Pace was so good at the Kings CC outing (4:30, full field and us lollygagging and BSing) I stopped here as it was on the way home. I think I was charged $37 at 3:00 and that might have been the 9hole rate. With 2 hrs. of light, I mumbled grumbled as was on my way only to find many singles and twosomes scattered around the front nine. I had to get creative.

Course is a tale of two nines most likely built at different times. Front nine is tree lined and medium length. Back nine is more links style much longer and much tougher. Although routed through a housing development across the street the back is the much better nine. I really liked the finishing hole. Course was in very good shape all around. It's flat and walkable, except for a few long transfers, so if you get there earlier than I did and can walk it I'm sure it's cheaper. Solid $30 course

Finally got to meet and play with Johnny GK. Had a great time at a great course. My first So-Cal Golf Moose outing. Johnny did a fantastic job, and it was smooth sailing the whole way. The staff were all welcoming and seemed to be happy to have us there. The course is an outstanding old school parkland style, and you would never know you were surrounded by flat farmland.

Immaculate conditioning throughout with a good mix of par three's (4 holes, 4 different clubs, my favorite). Layout calls for all kinds of shots and all your clubs, especially your punch-out shot. Weather, pace and company were absolutely perfect. I highly recommend to anyone who can, check it out the next time an outing is planned it was well worth it.

Had about 2 1/2hrs. of daylight and this was less than 10 min. from Kern River. Course in very good dormant shape. Tee boxes, fairways, and bunkers all very playable. Greens were smooth but I couldn't tell how fast they were, after just playing Kern, I left every putt 5 ft short. Solid layout well worth playing, I had heard it wasn't in good shape, but I would have no problem playing it again or recommending it. Golf Now has some tee times in the $40-50 range, well worth it.

Scruffy local muni in a scenic setting that plays tough. Overall conditions were OK, greens were absolute lightning. Had at least 5 three putts and never got close with easy chips. White tees 6245 par 70. Lots of elevation change and several monster holes. Back-to-back par fours on the front 458,436, par 3's on the back 223, 219 both uphill, the second one significantly. $32 hot deal for a Sunday 10:40 tee time was a fair price, and I enjoyed the course. If I were a sandbagging golf hustler this is where I'd like to have my handicap. LOL

A parklandish flat local's course: 5,300 yards par 69. A list crosseroffer for sure, however course was in decent Muni shape. Greens rolled nice at medium speed and the traps had some of the best sand I've played in all year. (go figure) Saturday 1:00 tee time $14 to walk and a
3 1/2 pace of play made it worth a stop for me.

Outstanding mountain golf course with half of it in perfect shape. They had small tine punched the front nine on Monday and closed it until Friday. I wanted to play the whole course and waited till Friday, unfortunately they dumped a Sahara of sand on the greens in the morning. Wasn't too bad (I even made a 15ft birdie putt) but short putts were tough. Rest of the front nine and all of the back nine were immaculate. Tee boxes, fairways, traps, rough and greens all 10's. Back nine greens were like glass and almost impossible after playing the sanded front ones. $49 web special was fantastic for this caliber of a golf course. Wish I lived closer. It is out of the way but well worth planning a trip around.

Great setting for this 9-hole scenic golf course. Some Mt. Lassen views and some lake views thru the houses. $37 to walk nine holes (ouch). 3,000 yards, good mix of moderate length holes, last par 4 378 straight up the hill is a beast. Course finished their maintenance two weeks ago and was in good shape, greens rolled good at medium speed.

It is a tree lined layout but not super tight. It goes up and down the property and is a moderate walk, (I was sweating by the end) but nothing crazy. The last hole was a steep as the green fee. If you don't want to walk, I think the cart was another $13. Glad I played it. I would say it was even worth the green fee If you're not a cheapskate like me.

Nine-hole course thru a housing community on the west side of the lake. Par 36, 3173 from the tips. Course was going thru their yearly maintenance, and I forget what they were charging. Got there at 4:30 and had the place to myself. $10 for the honor box and I was on my way. I think the greens were done a few weeks ago and were still bumpy and medium speed. Fairways were not punched but slashed (not sure what that's called) but played fine with a bump or two. It's a fun tree lined course with some Mt Lassen views and a peek at the lake. Worth playing I'm sure it was in fine shape a month ago.

Only course in the area. Got there at 4:00 $15 green fee $15 cart fee. Course is walkable and had I gotten there earlier I would have. I think $15 is an absolute steal. Another nice valley setting in full fall splendor surrounded by mountains. Same conditions as Mt. Huff, super lush throughout. If greens were cut and rolled it too would have been in fantastic shape, still worth playing. Front nine is open and plays around a man-made lake surrounded by non-native trees in full yellow color, a nice contrast with the green course. Back nine more Sierra like with tall pines and fairways boarded by high yellow wispy grasses. Not a difficult course but I loved it, could be it was an add on and I had low expectations but I'm glad I ended up there.

Fun nine-hole course in the middle of nowhere. $15 to walk. Got there at 2:00 after a long drive and had the place to myself. Good mix of holes in a fantastic valley setting. Perfect fall weather accompanied by fall colors. Wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Four par 3's four par 4's (mostly on the short side) and one par 5. 2264-yard par 33. Course was pretty lush, in fact too lush. Fairways and greens could use a solid mowing and it would be in very good shape. Don't know if they close for the winter so it might be a maintenance thing. Worth checking out if you find yourself in the area for some reason.

They say back in the day this was a difficult course that hosted senior PGA tournaments. Fast forward to today and they have built a giant high school on two thirds of the course. Now there is a six-hole layout that consists of a par three, par five and four short par fours. It also has a 9-hole par three course. It was $32 with cart for the whole thing at 3:30ish. The six-hole course is unlimited play in the afternoon. It is a decent layout in fair shape. Didn't see any water but tons of geese and their droppings. Pretty scenic in the fall and a fun place to practice probably not worth the money unless you are knocking courses off the list. It is very walkable I don't know if that makes it cheaper.

Rollicking round of golf thru the hills above Reno/Sparks. Course in excellent shape, Greens still had small tine marks from recent aeration but had no noticeable effect on putting. The greens were lighting fast and smooth as glass. This layout is like a Scottish links thru the hills, very unique. Many deep bunkers and the greens fell off on a lot of sides leaving difficult recovery shots. The wind howled at a solid 20mph the whole round, I think that's pretty typical out here and just adds to the challenge. It is not private, and some discounts to be found on GolfNow. Well worth checking out if in the area.
