Definitely a course for better players. We thought this to be a bit tricked up with virtually every green bulldozed into an elevated plateau. We had fun but we also decided it wasn't on our list of courses to return to. I suppose the PGA West title supports a certain player base that will pay the extremely high (grossly overpriced in our opinion) $230 green fees. We took advantage of the $85 twilight special and nearly finished. Two local courses we enjoyed more than this one were the Celebrity course at Indian Wells (see separate review) and the Mountain Course at LaQuinta (also $85 twilight rate and we will return!).

We had a group of 10 well traveled golfers play this course last week. We paid $130/each and everyone agreed it was worth it. In our opinion, it is the prettiest course we have ever played. Handicaps ranged from 10 to 30 and all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Perfectly manicured with varying challenges depending on the tees selected. The only drawback was the fact that the clubhouse was not finished so it currently is housed in a large tent. Like the rest of the course, this looks to be spectacular. Indian Wells spent on fortune on these upgrades - showcased in The Skins Game - and it shows. Especially recommended for couples.

This course must have been designed by someone on drugs. Really an unusual layout. I suppose you could say interesting, especially if you were a mountain goat. OK, I wasn't having a good day and this isn't the course for you when you're at your worst. Many hilly holes and uneven lies. More windows in play than I have ever seen. The combination of uneven lies, wind and windows put me ill at ease for the round. The course was in good shape and the seaside atmosphere was pretty cool. Fog was an issue from time to time. I would play again but we all preferred Stonetree and Eagle Vines on our 5 day golf trip.

The good news is the layout is quite interesting. I mean that in a good way. It's definitely worth a play for that reason. The problems are, 1) Pace of play - we teed off at 8:30AM on Labor Day. Given the relative early tee time it is not often we have a 5 hour round but we had one here. Never once did we see a marshall despite some rather large gaps between some groups. 2) Conditioning - Greens were in poor shape due to some fungus. Fairways, tee boxes, etc., in below average shape 3) Service - We never saw anyone on the front 9 nor did we see water or a snack shop. At the turn since we were hungry, thirsty and waiting on every hole anyway, we went across the street and back to the clubhouse to grab some food & drink. We saw the cart girl twice on the back but it was too late. Everyone was nice but either people didn't show for work on the holiday or they are skimping too much on staff.

We enjoyed Eagle Vines. I would probably rate the course a four on a scale of 1-5. For the most part the holes are interesting, the course is well maintained, and the service is good. One hole that we did not enjoy was approx. #13 - a 420+ par 4 from the whites. Given the length, a driver off the tee is necessary to have a chance at par but the fairway is very narrow with white stakes virtually on the edge of the fairway.

We really enjoyed this course. Roughly half the holes are flat and reasonably interesting but not very memorable. The other half in the hills are remarkable. The course is in beautiful shape.

This is a very carefully tended resort course. We played the Oasis 9 to start which was pretty average by resort standards. The back 9 was Desert and it was a treat. Major elevation drops on a couple par 3's and some interesting holes circling Camelback mountain. Service was surprisingly mediocre for a Troon managed course. It was a hot day but no water or ice was offered by the starters. When we finally asked, they said there was water in a cooler that we would never have known without them telling us. Disinterested and not at all helpful. Although a good course worth playing, the $199 green fee is excessive. It is worth playing if you can find a lower rate on EZ Links or one of the other discounters.

Very lush and well manicured. Lots of lakes to contend with. This course feels like a Florida golf course. We played the blue nine and the gold nine. Blue was quite good, gold was average. We heard the White nine is possibly the best of the three. Beautiful clubhouse and great service.

Rather scruffy appearance was unlike the other courses in the area we played. It felt like a muni but at $88 during shoulder season was not a bargain. Not a bad course but there are better options in the area. Some sand traps were hard as a rock.

Interesting and challenging golf course... particularly the back nine. The course was in good condition except the greens which were merely adequate. We look forward to playing again.

This is a special golf course. Well worth a splurge for the green fee. Great setting... outstanding conditioning. Even the clubhouse is first class.

This course is in beautiful condition except for some rocky sandtraps. Interesting but not too hard course that the ladies will enjoy too.
