The fairways are just a little long, not bad. Greens are really coming back now. Best I have seen in quite a while. There is a lot of grass on them now. They played at a medium pace today. The conditions are improving every month. The rough is back on most of the holes. It’s thick in many places and you must keep a real good eye on your errant shot or you could lose it in a heartbeat. Worth the green fee with the city resident rate now, but the visitor rate so so.

In very good shape considering the amount of play. Played under 4 hours, very unusual. The course was almost empty. Teed off at 3:40 played 17 before dark.

Walked on Sunday morning at 9:30. Had to play as a single. The course was wide open. Eventually caught a 3-some on #9. Greens are in good shape as are the fairways. Some tees could use a little rest. The course itself has some pretty decent holes but a few seem a little tucked inside the property. Looks like they are adding a few new longer tee boxes. Someone’s really trying to improve this course and they are gaining on it. It’s good enough now to recommend playing it.

Big turn around from 60 days ago. It's is playable now. Greens getting much better. The rough was cut down. Still some thin spots on a few greens, and a few places on the fairways. Worth the local rates, but not the visitor rate, but the improvement was remarkable. Good Job to the Super & greenskeeper.

Played Friars/Mission- I have said before not my favorite course to play, but overall it is in pretty darned good condition. The track itself is not spectacular and without the good greens, and green complexes it wouldn’t be nearly as pleasant to play. If played in the afternoon and the coastal winds are blowing it can play like a whole different course. Under calm conditions it plays fairly undemanding. It’s the type of course that has a few holes you shouldn’t pound out the driver on. The par 3’s are not cheap. It has a few weak par 4’s, and a couple of reachable par fives. But it has a central urban location. The staff was friendly. The course played just under 4 hours, very nice nowadays. Ball marks, I talked to a staff member who acknowledged the situation and express his regret (for something the course isn’t really at fault for). It wasn’t the end of the world or anything, the greens did putt pretty true, the old marks were mostly smoothed out, the new fresh ones well I guess you just have to fix them in your line (and as many others as you can without holding up play). It’s just sad to see greens that are well maintained left that way at the end of the day. The greens here I have found to be either good or very good, and on a few occasions excellent. Paid about $20 more than I’d like to have paid, but due to the course’s overall good conditions, location (near the coast in the 70’s), pace of play maybe it was almost worth it.

Played yesterday. Overall very good condition. They were cutting the back nine's rough. Now you can find them (maybe) but you still can't advance them far without a fortunate leave. Fairways are nice, the rough is well, rough.

Played it in May 2005. I did not like the course; however I played horrible that day, so please take my criticism with that in mind. The course conditions were fine, especially for such a new course. Good decent greens & fairways. My problem was the number of blind shots. Longer hitters especially can be severely hurt hitting too long on what should have been a mid-iron Vs. Driver type of thing. There are courses that need yardage books, this is one. Unfortunately the course was too new and did not have them available yet. Severe elevation changes on many holes. Staff was courteous. Only warm-up nets were available at the time we played.

Played with a group of 12. We go every year to Mesquite and scheduled this course for the 1st time this year. Played a few months ago and added this to the 4 course rotation. Of all the courses played, every player liked this course best. It beat out Falcon, Wolf & others we usually play. Not to diminish Wolf Creek, (it's a must play) however Coral Canyon is a much more traditional track without all the severe elevation changes. Well kept, interesting holes, good greens & fairways, fun to play. Our entire group wants this in the rotation next year. The day we played it was raining and 40 degrees, really miserable weather. Even so, to the man all agreed this was the best venue and all wanted another crack at it next year hopefully with better weather.

Played it a few months ago for the third year in a row. The course lives up to all the hype. Expensive to play but research the available golf packages and you can lower the green fees. If you are in the area and don’t play it you will be missing out on a unique golfing experience. Play the proper tees for your game or you will have a very long day.

Course is in very good condition. Greens just slightly slower than usual. Pace of play is slow. 5hr 20min. Sunday afternoon. It wasn't crowded, just played soooo slooooow.

A word of caution. The cold grass herbicide sprayed a couple of weeks ago is really working now, and on some holes the herbicide has affected the fairways as well. Some fairways have been sanded again. The greens are getting better but still need improvement. First time players seeking a great venue will be disappointed. The good news is the course is finally being worked on. Play the North for a while.

It's just the greens. Played with a 1 handicaper today and his remarks were "tee to greeen just fine but greens way too slow." I'm sure he would rate them as very slow, I would rate them at medium slow. I thought the fairways were just a shade to long. Bunkers are improving. Better maintained and the sand in them I think has been moved around to make them more uniform over last week. Saw a huge pile of sand in the maintenance area. Maybe destined for the bunkers? There is a notice at the starters booth cautioning the rough has been sprayed with a cold grass herbicide? They are trying to kill off one type of grass to make the rough more uniform. Couldn't see any effect today, but it might be something to watch down the road.
