Found a teeoff.com deal for the 31st so my cousin and I decided to head out. This course is 1 hour from the Las Vegas area and was a planned master community with up to 7 golf courses planned before the recession in 2008. Sadly only the Jack Nicklaus course was the only thing to be built before then. However this course is fantastic and a great pleasure to play. Check in was easy and the staff was super friendly. When in the pro shop there is a model of the first two courses that were going to be opened the 2nd one being a Nicklaus/Dye coo-design which you can see some of the moved dirt when making the trek to the practice area before they scrapped the plans. The Practice area and 1st tees are a little far from the Club house as they were going to build a massive duel clubhouse near the practice area serving both courses. This practice area is very large and has any type of warm up area you can think of to prep for your round.

Course conditions are in great shape for how cold and wet it has been over the last three week. Tee boxes are all level and lush, I did notice one par three was a little chewed up but not a big issue. Fairways were lush and cut relatively low providing ample roll on most shots, this however made accuracy key as there are bunkers and lakes everywhere that can mess with your sanity during the round. Sand traps were hit or miss, I was in two green side traps that had soft sand but the carpet liner was coming up all around it and caused some issues. Fairways bunkers are on the firmer side but were nice to play from. Rough was cut short around all hazards and would not stop your ball from falling/rolling into the lakes and traps. Greens were the highlight of the round. They were as lush as can be, soft yet quick on speed and just a pleasure to putt on.

This Layout is a lot of fun to play with each hole being different from the last you never get bored. If you get car sick you wont have fun driving down the fairways as every hole has rolling mounds throughout the fairways leaving fun lies and just an overall entertaining day. There is a solid mix of holes with water, desert scape, sand traps, and native bushes. They have very nice gas carts but no GPS on them. We saw the cart girl often and she had warm hot dogs that were fantastic during our 5 minuet rain delay. Over all I highly recommend playing here if you get the chance.

Played in the Gk event yesterday. this year we booked an AIRBNB on the course which made the round much more enjoyable as we didn't have the 3hour drive before the round. Upon arrival the staff was very friendly and helped get everything loaded on the carts. We hit the bar first and they made us d%mn good John Daly's.

As expected the course was in great shape overall. Tee's level and had full coverage. Fairways were lush but there were a few spots with new sod layed out and marked as GUR. I didn't encounter any of these issues but I would say at least 8 holes had some GUR. Rough was lush but not overly penal to hit from. Sand traps were great and had ample sand in the green side bunkers. Greens were in really good condition with the exception of one on the back nine where there was basically a hole in the front of the green. Not sure what caused it but it was in the way with any shots on the front of the green.

We saw the cart girl on 5 and 9 and then at the Ram Shack on 14 they were giving away FREE TACOS!! They were quite tasty as well. After the round they gave us their Awesome Carmel apple cookies and brisket sandwiches. If you have not played Rams Hill I suggest getting out there this year. Rates go up January first so make sure to get out there soon. especially because they have been ranked in the Golf Digest Top 100 this year.

Joined up with some GK'ers yesterday out at San Vicente Resort. We were looking for a place to play before heading to Rams hill the next day and this was a great choice. We had 7:40 and 7:50 tee times but it was a very cold morning and we ended up having a 2 hour frost delay. The staff was very friendly and handled the situation very well. Instead of doing a shotgun start they just pushed everyone back 2 hours so we assumed the course was going to be slow but that was not the case. We zipped around the course in under 4 hours which was great.

Course is still in good shape overall. The Greens were the highlight of the day lush, firm and fast all day. I bid you good luck if you leave the ball above the hole. Just look at my 4 putt double bogey on hole 2! Well hit approaches will stick to the green but anything coming in low would mostly roll off the greens. The fairways had full coverage but were mostly dormant and cut low. The tight lies caused some havoc in our group but it was still very playable. Rough was cut to the same length as the fairway with the exception of a few areas around the hazards. This also caused issues as balls that rolled off the green usually kept rolling to the low spots. The 3 bunkers I had had very soft sand and was just a pleasure to play from. The Tee boxes were probably the lowest point of the round and could use a little TLC all of them were level but not a ton of grass. I Noticed a few boxes had some new Sod so maybe they are already working on it.

I really enjoy they layout of this course as no two holes are the same. the par 3's are all different lengths which is a big plus in my book. The greens are the highlight of the course architecture they were completely redone prior to them reopening last year. Massive undulations and a lot of places to put the pins make for a different experience every time you play. Carts are basic but do have a GPS that gives you Front, Center, and Back yardages. Lastly the Staff here is by far the friendliest group of people I have encountered on a golf course, They go over the top to help you with anything you can think of. With the exception of no cart girl this day :)

I highly recommend playing here if you get the chance.

First Time playing Quail after a few years of hearing about it through Gk. My first impression while driving in was "WOW it is so green!" I knew going in that the course was going to be in great shape especially for the time of year we were playing and I was not let down. Tee to green the course was lush and just a joy to play. Greens were smooth and ran quick. It took two holes to get used to the speed but everything was fair. Fairways were like carpet and provided ample roll out on most shots. Sand was fine as well as the rough. the course it self has a nice blend of holes except the par 3's. where 4 out of five were over 200 yards from the black tee's that we played. I am not a fan of having really long par 3's especially as they seemed to all be raised greens. Even the 5th par 3 was over 175 yards so it made scoring tough on them all day. Overall the course is short topping out at 6450 yards from the black but it makes up for it with dog legs, bunkers, raised greens, and so on.

I had a blast playing here and cant wait to come back.

Want to Destroy any short game confidence? They come play Tiger Woods' new course at pebble beach! This 9 hole short course is a beautiful half size replica of 9 famous par 3's ranging from 50-100 yards. It may look and feel easy but wait until you get on the green and you will be met with some of the most difficult putting surfaces in the game.

Conditions are A+ as expected with a pebble beach resort course. Tees were good with only a few areas chewed up from play. They do have mats if the weather is bad. Fairways and rough 10/10 lush and green. Bunkers were soft and had plenty of sand in them. Greens were smooth quick and very fun to play on. Just accept that you will have a few 3 putts on the day.

Although pricy at $65 its worth it to try once.

Found a hot deal for $54 on 11/7 at 11:40pm. Decided to set up a gk match with Mark and could not have picked a better day. Clear 72° with a light breeze made for an epic day. I have played this course quite a bit over the years and will continue to make the trek down from OC as the conditions are still great year round.

When arriving Mark mentioned the putting green has been removed and there is now just a very small 5'x10' putting surface to practice on but they have a practice area on the other side of the parking lot that we didn't know about. Its ok because I knew coming in that there is nets to warm up and that's usually all I need. Conditions were better than expected yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised with how green the fairways were. They were cut short and were a touch firm allowing for maximum roll out on tee shots. There is a debate if they are painted or not. I could not tell even after examining my divots, they just looked so good and played very well. If they were painted then I want to hire their staff to paint my house! Greens were medium speed, lush, and super soft. Even greenside pitch marks were leaving marks but it looks like players were doing their part by fixing the divots. As noted in the previous review there were some footprints by the end of the day which made for some adventurous putting but nothing to really complain about. I was in three sand traps and the two greenside traps were fine but the fairway trap needed more sand. Rough is a mixed bag ranging from thick grass to bare dirt if you got too far offline. Tee boxes were fine except #9 that was almost completely bare, I hope they address that soon.

This track has a few target golf tee shots required but eases up as you near the green. At a total yardage of 5900 yards it can still eat your lunch and you can easily rack up a high score if you attempt to overpower it. Weaving in and above an old oak tree forest the views are arguably some of the best in San Diego. The staff here is fantastic especially the lady working at Stoney Mountain Bar and Grill. The vibe at the course is very laidback, for those who have played before they use to have an Alligator warning sign after hole 1 sadly that is gone but they now have a sign before the famous bridge saying smile for the camera as a nod to amusement parks, I just love the humor! Do yourself a favor and get out and play Mt. Woodson and smile for the camera!

Was fortunate enough to receive a last minuet invite to play this exclusive private course. Guest rate is a whopping $200 but its very rare to get invites to play here so I had to jump on it. Getting into the community was a little slow as there was about 15 cars in line to get in but once in everything was smooth. We pulled up to the bag drop and the younger kids who worked at the course were very nice and directed us where to park and where to go once we checked in. The driving range is very large and has a nice chipping area. There where two staff members running around the range cleaning your clubs and helping you with anything you can think of. They even had a a few fitness machines to help you stretch out. There is a large putting green right next to the first tee and boy was it fast! The member we played with warned us that the course will be identical so that got us worried.

This Fazio design was built with one thing in mind....We dont care how much it cost just make it a course that nobody will forget. Well they succeeded in that, By far the most entertaining golf course I have played in a long time. The course reminds me of a tricked out Madera's with no homes on the course and beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Accuracy is key on this course because anything offline will find the brush and be gone. The greens are surrounded by sand traps and have multiple false edges to be aware of.

Course conditions were top notch all around yesterday. There are 5 sets of tee's to choose from and we ended up playing the blue tees. The boxes had good coverage and low cut grass no issues to bring up. Fairways were lush, fast, and like hitting off premium carpet. Full coverage and no brown or bare spots to be found. Rough was not very long and mostly lush unless you get too far offline. Sand traps were bright white and soft enough to hit any type of shot you want. I did find a handful of the 90 bunkers and 2 of them seemed to be a touch firm about 3/4 inch's below the surface but that was probably from the rain two days ago. Greens were absolutely diabolical! These large greens would hold high hit approaches but once on the surface they were the fastest greens I have every putted on. They are even faster than Barona! If you were above the hole it was nearly impossible to keep the ball close. I had a 4 putt from 10 feet because the first putt rolled out 30 feet! I gave it a perfect 10/10 on my ratings and I would dare anyone to to find something wrong with them.

As for the amenities they go above and beyond on every aspect. Carts are new lush EZ carts with the latest Visage Bluetooth GPS units. They had ball and club washers, coolers and even a trash receptacle. There was no cart girl but at the rest stations they had refrigerators with ice cold water, fruit, candy, and uncrustable PB&J's for free! If you have a chance to play this course I highly suggest you cancel any plans you have to play. You will not be disappointed.

Fun Fact- Its only a 150K initiation fee but you need a sponsor from the club to join!

Found a 12:50 teeoff.com deal for $70 on Sat. I had never played Ojai Valley in so I decided to pull the trigger. I arrived around 12:15 and parking is a little bit of an issue at the resort. I found a spot near the valet but had to walk quite a bit to the golf shop. There were shuttles around but I missed them. When I arrived at the starter he said that he wanted to send me out right away and I obliged. The range was open but off mats so I didn't mind not warming up. We started on hole 10 becauase of a tournament and I was not impressed for the first 4 holes. I thought it was just a basic course and nothing special. Then the rest of the course got into the trees, valleys, and canyons. Man were those holes spectacular.

Course was in good shape I would say its a 7/10. Greens were very nice and ran quick, there was a lot of unrepaired ball marks which is typical on a resort course. Dang rich people too lazy to fix their marks. Fairways were lush and cut short, mostly green with just a few browning patches here and there. Tee boxes were adequate but I noticed the blue and white tees were in the same area almost every hole. Sand was a dark brown color but very good. I had 3 plugged shots that really make you think when planning your approach to the greens. Fairways bunkers were a little firmer so no issues there. The there is the Rough and I can only think of one work for it Kikuyu!! Looks like they gave up fighting the kikuyu grass in the rough as a majority of the rough is nasty kikuyu. However it was all cut to normal length so as long as you knew what you were doing its a non issue.

Overall this is a wonderful resort and I would play here again if 1. I was in the area and 2. There was a deal. POP was around 4:45 waiting on almost every tee shot including 2 groups on each par 3. Carts are new with shar experience gps although both battery lights in our group started flashing on hole 16 so they barely make two rounds in a day. I recommend playing here if you have the chance but remember its a 3 hour drive back to OC.

Joined the Gk'ers for a fun filled day on Sunday 10/17. It had been a while since I had been able to play out at the Quarry and the course was just as fun as I remembered. The course was carved out of an abandoned quarry and the designers had quite the imagination when creating the layout. The course has a great selection of holes and it never gets boring. Rolling elevations with well protected greens make for a tough track where accuracy is key.

The conditions were better than expected seeing's how they were ready to punch the greens as soon as we were done with the hole. We were told a head of time that they had stopped watering the course 5 days prior to us arriving but it was still in great shape. The fairways had good coverage and were firm and fast. I had great lies all day when I was in the fairway. Rough was also dry and quick which made it more important to keep it in the fairway because balls would roll through the rough and into the bushes. Sand traps were 50/50 depending on which one you hit. I was in one trap on 16 (originally 14) that had a ton of soft sand which was like walking on a beach. The other trap I was in didn't have a lot of sand and could use some TLC. Looks like they are selectively picking sand traps to renovate one at a time. Greens were actually in much better shape than expected they were soft yet fast. The amount of play in the morning definitely showed as it was starting to get bumpy by the time we came around. If I could pick any down side it would've been the tee boxes, they were scrappy and didn't have a ton of grass. however they are reseeding those during the maintenance period so it wont be an issue.

The staff was super nice even though there were about 30 minuets behind due to a few large groups going off. POP was very slow at 5.5hrs but we still had fun. Not sure why the driving range was closed but that was a bummer especially because it was the GK cup final and the competitors couldn't warm up. Carts are very nice and had the shark experience gps system which is a nice touch. This is definitely a course you need to play just to experience the layout out and test your luck on the signature par 3 16th.

Booked a group for last Friday for a bachelor party. Most of the golfers in the group have never played anywhere nice so desert willow was a logical choice. $55 on a Friday is totally worth it right now even though it was still over 100° this day. Check in was smooth and the cart guys prepped our carts and ice chests for the round. Course was fully sold out this day for both courses so the range was a little busy and POP was around 4:45 but never felt too slow.

Course is in good summer shape right now as previously reviewed a few weeks back. Tee boxes flat and many to choose from. Grass was lush and minimal divot damage. Fairways mostly lush with a few browning areas as they get ready for over seed in a few weeks. I never had a bad lie so no issues there. Sand was good and consistent in the 14 sand traps that I played from this day, fairways traps were a little more firm as expected and green side soft and easy to hit from. I did notice 2 traps where the liner is exposed on the lips so that will need a little TLC to fix. Greens were medium fast and a tad on the firmer side. They rolled smooth and held shots just fine. Rough was lush but had some bare spots here and there the farther offline you got.

Carts were nice with GPS, USB plug, ball/club washer and an cooler. Cart girl was around at least 5 times on the round and the on course restrooms had ice and water machines to keep you hydrated. Overall this is a must play course if in the desert area.

Played 9/18 with 3 tee times starting at 9am. Check in was smooth cart guy must've had a long night as he wasn't very helpful but the pro shop guys were nice as well as the snack bar ladies. This course is on the Fantasy Springs Casino land and is kind of hard to find if you are not paying attention. The pro shop is just an old trailer but it does the trick. Carts are basic with usb plug and old visage GPS systems. Driving range is medium sized with a chipping and putting area for a proper warm up.

Course was in good shape for it being late summer. mostly green with some browning grass here and there. All of my shots from the fairway had nice cushion and plenty of roll. Fairway sand traps were a little on the firm side but that is what you want when trying to hit longer shots out of the traps. Rough was also lush but not very penal with most balls sitting up just fine. Greens were in good shape medium fast and only a few ball marks from uncourteous golfers ahead of us. When on the range I noticed 3 groups ahead of us that looked like they had never swung a club :( . Green side sand was soft and very nice to hit from. Lots of water features which make for a beautiful day on the course.

This is a fun layout and not overly long but worth playing especially for the rates which are better than most of the courses in the valley.

Played 9/6/21 at noon- Pace of play was 5HR 45MIN!!!!!!!

We tee'd off on time but had to wait on almost every tee box with multiple groups on a few of the boxes. We had 4 groups waiting on hole 15. Marshall was around but as mark had mentioned in the prior review he didnt seem to care.

Course was just as Mark had said in the prior review. Fairways had good coverage and a mix of green and brown grasses but nice to play from. They offered ample roll out on shots as well which I enjoyed. Rough was a mix of grasses turning bare patches the farther offline you get and under the trees. Sand was horrible for the few that I encountered but playing partners didnt seem to find a bad one also none of them were raked. Greens were bumpy but in good shape, soft and receptive just need golfers to fix their marks.

This was my first trip to Industry hills and I thoroughly enjoyed the course but if 5hr 45min rounds are what they offer on the weekends I wont be back.
