First time back in a long time on 6/11/10 after reading a few positive reviews but I have to say I was disappointed in the overall conditions of the golf course. For those of you who don't know, this course is now bank owned it quite apparent that cost cutting measures have been implemented with regards to maintaining the course. Many tee boxes and the hitting area on the driving range appeared to have not been cut for days. I did not see a single maintenance worker the entire day. I almost felt like some of the tee boxes could have passed for rough. The greens rolled well but were a tad on the slow side. Many bare spots in fairways. The rack rate today was $65 but we paid $45 on golfnow. Even with the lower rate I still came away disappointed.
Returned 3/26 and played east/south. East was in good shape again excluding the tee boxes which were like rocks and unlevel in some spots. Every trap I was in was perfect except for guys not raking them. As for the south, it was the same below average condition nine that I remembered. It just seems like they ignore the condition of this side of the golf course and I dont know why. Played east first in 1.5 hours. South took almost 3 hours. Play the east and north and you will not be disappointed.
After much prodding from Xavier92264, I decided to give this place another shot for the first time since 2003. I did not have much in the way of expectations prior to my arrival. Let me just say this, the course has done a complete 180 since my last visit. Greens that were perfectly manicured, grass in the fairways and traps that were almost perfect. Even the tee boxes were in very good condition though the rough could have used a little attention. The best part is that it only cost us $25 to play the north/south 18 with the coupon from SoCal golfer magazine. We breezed through our round in just under 4 hours. I always believed that this course had great potential and was only in need of a litle TLC and my round proved it was true. My hat is off to whoever is running this place right now.
Played here 2/15/10 with Xavier92264. Got a good rate on golfnow for $32 at 0640 and were the 2nd group out. I have always been partial to the LA County courses and today did not disappoint. The greens rolled great and had tons of break making it a must to keep the ball below the pin. The weather has given this course a beating over the past month or so as there are many downed trees on the property but it has held up reasonably well. Traps and fairways were in decent shape but many tee boxes need some TLC. I regret not playing here much more often over the past couple of years.
played here 2/4/10 with Xavier???. Went out early at 0700 and hooked up with another twosome. Breezed thru 18 in just under 4 hours. Some of the fairways have taken a beating from the recent rains with a whole bunch of ground under repair areas but overall they were decent. Greens rolled smooth and true. Traps were in excellent shape. Some of the rough was a little tough and had not been cut. Still an excellent value for $25 to walk.
Played here 10/22/09. Greens aerated 10/19 but rolled surprisingly well. Fairways and traps in decent shape but several tee boxes were some of the worst I have ever seen. Played here for $32 with cart and range balls so I find it hard to complain but the tee box situation must be addressed.
First time playing here on 9/28. Paid $49 at golfnow.com for an early tee time. The greens were being punched that day so I cannot fairly rate but let me say I was underwhelmed by the rest of the course. Fairways were brown and dry with many pathces around greens. Tee boxes were not level. Most of the LA county courses are in better condition and they charge 1/3 the price that Coyote Hills does. At $49 (even if greens were fine) I would still be disappointed but if I paid over $100 I would be furious. Needless to say, I will not be back.
First time playing here on 7/17/09 with Xavier????. Tried to hit Eagle Glen first to hit a couple of balls but the range was closed. Can someone please explain to me how this course was built with no range. Teed off at 0700 and were done by 1100. A fun course with excellent customer service. Fairways and greens were good though greens are a tad slow. Great value for $39. On a side note, I lost a little bit of respect for Xavier at the turn after watching him easily handle the 1/2 pound Dos Lagos Dog. It was obvious that he has had some prior experience with things of similar size.
Decided to play a second 18 on 7/10/09 after playing Marshall Canyon in the morning. Arrived at 1145 and went right out. Got to the second hole when I realized that the the four groups ahead of us were all twosomes. I knew we were in for a long day. The round ending up taking almost 6 hours which made for a HORRIBLE day. It sucks having to wait 10 minutes between shots. No Marshall in sight all day. As for the course, it was in decent condition but I will not be back unless I get out before 0700. It was a joke out there yesterday.
First time playing this course on 7/10/09. I cant believe I waited this so long especially since I live so close. This LA county course plays pretty short but many doglegs force you to keep driver in the bag on some holes. Greens were a little slow today but are very sloped. I would love to play this place when they are rolling quick. Fairways had a few brown spots but overall they were fine. Tee boxes and traps were great. Excellent value for the price and I will be back for sure.
First time playing here 6/22. Great looking clubhouse but I must say that I was unimpressed with the overall course conditions. Many bare spots on the greens and quite a few fairways. Sand traps and tee boxes were in good condition. Dont believe this place is worth the $87 weekday rate. It didn't help that I probably had my worst day of the year hitting my irons. Course design took driver out of my hands too many times during my round for my taste. It just was not a pleasant experience out there for me. Excellent customer service but avoid the snack bar. My egg sandwich was terrible.
Played here 6/1/09 and I really cannot remember this course being in any better condition. Greens were a little on the slow side but the rolled true. Tee boxes and fairways were in exellent shape. Only complaint my group had was with a couple of the traps being a little thin. Taught Xavier92264 a good lesson after he ran his mouth after his "once a year" defeat of myself our last time out. I cannot think of a better value than this place right now.
