We played early Sun Aug. 8th. Only played this course one other time about 3 years ago & I only remembered a few holes. This is a MUST play course & right now, in the middle of the summer the course is in EXCELLENT Condition! NO RESTRICTIONS, just 90* rule needed to be used, most players did not...

The day we played there was a Shotgun Senior event. The starter was very accommodating, did not want to see us play or get behind groups on hole #1 PLUS heavy rainstorm was forecasted. The plan was to start our threesome on the back nine Hole#10, I was ok with doing so! My only gripe was to THEN move our group from the 10th tee to hole #6! So starting out on a PAR 5, no knowing where to hit our 2nd shot (DOG LEG HARD RIGHT), I thought I hit a perfect 5 wood into the fairway, ball lost. Still a little ticked off we started our round on the 6th HOLE especially since we had a starting tee time. The Senior group was already behind us in the fairway plus we had to wait on the Senior group in front of us on the next hole.

On the horizon was a major storm brewing & coming fast! We made it to hole #11 before EVERYONE was pulled off the course Lightning &Thunderstorm followed by heavy down pour. The entire Sky Mountain Staff got everyone off the course, carts in the cart barn, players into the Golf Shop/Rest shelter area. Rain checks were offered, we declined since the storm was expected to pass in 30 minutes.

We re-started on Hole #12 PAR 3, finally settled into our round. Pace of play was actually faster than expected since it was a large Shotgun event. The scenery is spectacular! On the 18th BLACK tee box, looking back towards the 17th green, there is a deep wide trench,a natural waterfall appeared from the rainstorm that just past through.

This course definitely needs to be played a few times to learn how to play certain holes. The greens are soft so spike & ball marks need to be repaired properly. The majority speed of the greens are slow. I believe the Superintendent doesn't want to cut the greens too low for fear of losing them in the summer heat.
