Last round of the trip. Not really an exciting way to end things, but I wanted to get home early today and this was a convenient time to check this course off my SoCal list. I knew from calling ahead that they don't bother with frost delays here, so I knew I could get out early and quickly. It was actually fairly busy when I showed up at dawn, but I got off by myself a few minutes before 7:00. $38.50 with a cart. Played through a couple groups and then stayed behind a twosome most of the back nine for a great 2.5-hour pace on the frozen tundra.

This course looked pretty ugly with dormant winter conditions in full effect. There pretty much wasn't anything green on the course other than some trees and a light green/brown on the greens themselves. That said, the playability was surprisingly decent. There was no distinction between fairways and rough, just one tight sprawling cut throughout the entire course. There were plenty of thin spots, but most lies were pretty decent and consistent. The greens were fine. A little beat-up looking with footprints and ball marks, but not terrible. There aren't many bunkers on the course, but I managed to find two. They each had different types of sand, but both were fine.

The course isn't anything too exciting, but the layout was more interesting than I expected. Some slight elevation changes to mix things up and otherwise a pretty traditional layout with palm trees and other trees lining the fairways. It's a course that could have a lot of potential with a major renovation, but as it is it's not bad. Just looks quite ugly right now with everything browned out and dormant. Not sure if that's a winter thing or they've just let it go with the economy, but the fact it seems consistently mowed and there is a decent base of grass to work with would make me think it's just winter conditions in the frigid valley.
