I haven't played this course for probably 20 years, played it 7/1/2013 with a friend. Amenities were good, there is a small bunker near the 1st tee to practice from the sand and some chips which I liked. The range uses old rocks for balls however, and simulated asphalt? painted to appear like grass/sand traps etc.

Now for the course. The greens are extremely receptive/soft but actually roll very well. For how soft they are they are very smooth. The breaks are very hard to read. I did not have a putt all day that broke as much as it appeared. Whatever break you read, it plays about half that. The tee boxes are fair, soft spungie ground, not easy to find a level spot, however they were relatively divot free.
The course I suppose is a links course but it has 4-5 tree lined holes throughout, almost feels like two different tracks. There was abit of wind as the course plays right alongside the bay, made for some nice views and some beastly par4/5's on the back nine playing directly into the wind 15,16,17,18 play into the teeth at 430/598/213/410.

The course is mostly flat with no blind approach shots into the greens. The day we played we saw 7-8 red foxes walking throughout the course, completely oblivious to golfers ( would actually walk directly up to and past golfers) and also 4-5 red tail hawks who seem to own the course. I saw 1 fox chase a playing partners ball thinking it was a mouse or small rodent I supposed.

Green fee's on golfnow were reasonable at $32 in the afternoon. For the course itself I'd give it a 3/5 max. HOWEVER, due to the wait on 16 of 18 tee's I won't be returning myself. This course draws beginners and they pack em tight on the tee sheets. They put a man and wife in front of my foursome and a twosome behind us. We played in a little over 5 hours. Oh and the sand traps had about 1 inch of sand that I'd describe as wet gravel (although the trap on 17 had perfect sand in it go figure).

I'd recommend this course for 15+ capper, your not gonna get rushed while searching for your ball and it's wide open off the tee's ( you will have to try very hard to lose a ball here).

Played here MLK day so round was agonizing 5 hours. Since there was plenty rain lately, I was surprised at how brown the fairways were on some holes. Tee boxes and greens were fine but there was one hole on the back nine where the entire hole sans green was brown. Frost damage maybe? Dunno. I like the course layout with the natural surroundings and the bayfront. A beautiful environment reflective of Northern California nature. Double decker range with mats, small chipping area and putting greens available and conveniently situated near the 1st tee. Pro shop, greasy spoon and bar all neatly and compactly placed. Plenty of parking, carts are electric and in good shape. didn't see a refreshment cart but easy to get to snack bar and bathrooms at the turn. If you love to watch airplanes like I do, you can survey all the commercial crafts gliding in to Oakland airport nearby. You can even see in the distance the planes approaching SFO too. Plenty of wild fowl and tame squirrels to receive your food offerings.

played 7-23 early morning. nice parkland golf course with a bit of a links feel. tee boxes in good shape with level stances. fairways where in good shape a little soft so not much roll. first cut of rough about 2 inches and easy to hit from get outside that and you could find some real tall thick rough. sand traps where firm with good sand. greens where in very nice shape rolled good and held shoots real nice.

If you are in the area PLAY this course! I walked on (Sunday 7/1/12) at 5:50 and was out by 6:00am and in the car by 10:00, the way golf should be played. Very walk able course with fast greens and great fairways. Some of the best views of San Francisco you will see!

Course is in decent shape.
Greens are smooth and medium speed. 7/10
Fairways are ok 5/10
Bunkers very good 8/10

On Monday 13 Dec, a promo email for half price fees, allowed us to tee off at 10:45. Easy check in with friendly, helpful staff and cart access to parking. Good prac/fac (mats only), large chipping/sand area and large putting green. A very active club made for our 4 ball late on tee off and a 5 hour round. Are you a fan of grass types? You name one, they have it!! I have never seen such a mixed salad from tee to green. Greens thankfully, are only one type: poa annua. Wet conditions with several holes 'carts on path' and a few plugged lies in the fairways; some casual water along the way as well. Tees inconsistent with several not level. No run at all today on the fairways (wet), rough long enough and damp but lush. Sand poor to fair - lots of pebbles in many traps. Greens were good; smooth, at times bumpy, and medium speed, sometimes fast. All held approach shots very well. Layout 'confused' with some interesting mature holes, and others forgettable. It is very exposed so pick your day for wind. No drinks cart today, sufficient water stations and rest stops. I must agree with hodgepodge below; other choices exist with value for a game. Our day: $25 riding on golfzing.com

Pace of play slow as usual. 4 and a half hours - seemed like 6. Like this place but will avoid as long as options are available.
