Tee Time: Around 12 noon 11/8/2013 playing with GK members JohnnyGK, RGM2525 and Sixpez. POP around 4 hours 40 minutes

Weather: Perfect 74 degrees hardly any wind...man what great weather

Tees: Gold

Fairways 8/10 Nice lush green grass fairways. Very little problems here ball sitting up nicely . Fairways have some slope to them here and are all carved into a mountain between homes. You get some stances that are sidehill and downhill even with well placed tee shots.

Tees: 7.5/10 Mostly all level, some divot damage on the par 3's. Mostly lush tees good shape.

Bunkers: Can't rate was not in any for the day, looked semi-firm.

Greens 7/10 Greens were OK. I would rate them a 7 rolling medium paced speed. The putting green was slower than the course so know that going in.

Rough 8/10 Lush and a club grabber depending on where you land. Some places it was 2-3 inches and ball would nestle down. Other places could produce a flier lie.

Layout: Very interesting course...I played it once about 7 years ago. Lets just say lucky I was having a very good ball striking day off the tee---if you are not in play here with your driver your dead meat. They had a couple quirky holes like #10 where I hit about a 320 yd draw down the hill landing in a ditch 20 yds in front of the green that was hidden. They also have a couple holes where there are hazards right in the middle of the fairway in say a 260-280yd landing zone. If you like to bomb the ball this is a place where maybe a 3 wood or long iron is the play on say 4 holes out here. Really enjoyed the 605 yd par 5 hole on the back nine that I almost reached in two. I enjoyed the variety that this course brought for a change of pace but probably would not choose it as a first choice on my list of Vegas courses as the layout is fun but could be called funky. As my playing partner who is a scratch golfer also commented we had a lot of say 125 yd approach shots in the middle of the fairway where you might not be able to see the pin. For sure a golf course if you were a member you could enjoy with course knowledge. I really enjoyed bombing tee shots off all of the elevated tees on this course--seems like they were all elevated. My favorite hole was #2. Good times.

Tee Time: 2:04pm- let out early at 1:40pm POP 4 hours 20 minutes Price $24.00 bucks to walk

Tees: Black

Weather: 75 degree tee off winds light at 5-8mph on some holes

Greens: 7/10 Bumpy poa annua greens that looked green on the surface and held shots nicely. Their were many bumps on putts but for the most part our group did not mind them that much. I think if they rolled them and cut them some they would be in great shape.

Fairways 6.5/10 Some areas of hardpan but mostly enough grass in all the fairways. Parts of lush grass here and brown grass here and there. Not to bad

Tees: 6.5/10 For the most part all level, some divot damage on the par 3's. Semi-lush green in color

Bunkers 6/10 Probably the worst part of the course, sand was not raked and was thick beach sand in parts and hardpan sand maybe right next to it.

Layout and Overall: At just over 6600yds the course is a nice course to play. It is tree lined and some trees come into play on some tee shots but by no means is it target golf. Both long par 3's over 200yds are a nice challenge. The staff was friendly in the pro-shop. The driving range is really bad with hardly any tees, beat up range balls and a dirt field to hit into. Overall I liked the change from my usual rotation but there are probably better courses out there to play

Played again this Monday 10/28 with my buddy Pedro---just to add from my previous review last Monday. The tees have come in beautiful and lush..they are in great shape. The greens were rolling even better this Monday and were firm and in beautiful shape. fairways in very nice shape for this time of year--only thing that might be inconsistent as stated from a previous review is that some aprons(fringes) are firmer than others creating sort of a guessing game on how firm the bounce up to the green is going to be. Fringes were cut nice and low though---course in very good shape...real impressed

Played 1st group off twilight today 10/21 with buddies. Weather was perfect, POP was great at 3 hours 35 minutes walking the blue tees..Just had a great time this afternoon. They are re-sodding the tees and you can see the lush grass going in. Looks like in a couple weeks or so the tees will be off the hook nice. The greens were sanded and punched on 10/7/2013 and are almost completely healed. Minimal bounces today on the greens. Pretty true roll and the greens were receptive-for sure a day to score on them. The fairways for being the middle October were semi-lush and I thought in pretty good shape. Seems like they are trying to perk up which is nice. Sand here even though I was not in any today is always looking compact and firm. Staff friendly-great layout- Would recommend this course to anyone--good job rustic.

Played today 10/14/13 with TonyBarrett and my buddies Mack and Pedro as part of the GK match play event. It was windy today and the greens were firm. I am going to say they were rolling around an 11 on flat putts on the stimp and you barely had to get the ball started on downhill putts--those were downright scary. The greens held irons with spin. They showed just very minor signs of maintenance done several weeks ago. For the most part they were in good shape--rated a 8/10. The fairways were a mixture of lush bermuda doormant grass with some signs of hardpan in certain areas. The hardpan parts were more like punch holes in certain areas. I would rate the fairways a 7/10 today. Tees were a 7/10 with enough coverage but showed some signs of wear and tear as the last reviewer mentioned. I was in one bunker on #3 fairway and it contained beach sand that was raked and soft. The rough was semi-thick in spots around 2-3 inches. Wind was a factor today like it is most afternoons at River Ridge. I love the layout of this course. If you can get past the 1st two holes and holes #6 and #8 you can score some on the back nine. Great layout and great variety of say 5 tough holes and a handful of score able holes. For 25 bucks walking twilight during the week this is highly recommended. You will get a workout if you walk it.

Tee Time: Sat 10/5/2013 at 8:40am playing with Bmanmp as part of GK Match Play. Played with another twosome. $39.00 to walk

Tees: Orange

Weather: 65 degree tee off-finished at 90 degrees- no wind to start, 5-7 mph breeze on start of back nine--perfect weather.

POP: Walking 4 hours 30 minutes

Greens: 8/10 Rolling real nice. Semi firm hardly any ballmarks, Severe sloped and undulating greens that kept you on your toes. Stay below the hole. Held iron shots with spin.

Fairways 8.5/10 Lush, green and almost perfect lies, very few minor dry and hard pan spots. Great job keeping them up guys with the summer heat they have had this year.

Tees: 8/10 I think they just did maintenance on them. They were all fairly level and green and in nice shape.

Aprons/Fringes 8/10 I am going to rate them an 8 but interesting thing here is they are so big and it is very important on chip shots and approaches if you are coming in low to know if they are going to be firm or watered and wet. The only knock I would give on them is some were watered and some were not. They were in good shape.

Bunkers 8/10 Light fluffy beach sand that was raked nicely for the most part.

Rough 8.5/10 Green, lush and a club grabber.

Overall 8/10 Gil Hanse(course developer for upcoming Olympics) has created a fun course here with around 4 challenging holes and for sure some birdie holes. I like courses that offer you both types. The staff is always friendly here, the rates are very good and the course is usually always in good shape with a peaceful backdrop.

Played this afternoon 9/23 walking first twilight out with my buddy Pedro and another nice twosome we joined. The fairways were lusher and greener today than last Monday. I am bumping my rating up to a 8/10. The rest of the course tees, greens, rough are all rated an 8/10. The course is really green I think for late summer, early fall and is playing really nice. We had some tough pin placements today, back right 2, back left 4, front on 6, back left on 11, front right on 14, back left on 15...you get the idea---it was a great challenge today. Rustic was so fun today. Having the sun go down on the back nine and looking back from the 18th tee on an empty peaceful back nine was breathtaking.

Played Olivas Links with my buddy and GK member Barkydog1. Mostly all aspects of the course are in very good condition right now.

Bunkers: 8.5/10 Soft white beach sand that you really need to thump to make a good shot

Greens 8/10 Firmer than I expected, rolling pretty nice, some old ballmarks present but in pretty good shape.

Tees: 8.5/10 Green, semi lush cut low

Fairways 8/10 They are green cut low and thin and produced some tight lies. For me I like a little more cushion under the ball but overall great presentation.

Rough: 8/10 Semi lush, green couple inches thick.

Always windy in the afternoon which presents a good challenge.

We had a great time---good job Olivas.

Tee Time: 2pm Monday 9/16/2013 Free Round with gift card

Tees: Blue--- POP 3 hrs 55 min walking

Weather: HOT 92 degrees tee off

Fairways 7/10 They don't look that green and lush driving in but they play nicely with irons from the fairway and still get a lot of roll on drives that are hit well. Ample grass coverage. Water is expensive and scarce out this way and I think the staff has done a good job with what they have.

Greens 7.5/10 I have seen the greens firmer. Today I would call them close to a 10 on the stimp. If you were above the hole you have to be careful but I personally thought that they were softer than usual. Some ballmarks on the shorter par 3's and short par 4's. #17 green looked like it a ton of old ballmarks. I thought you got a good roll out here.

Tees: 7.5/10 Lush, semi-green and mostly all level. I wish the course offered some sand mix replacement on the tees to fill in the divots on the par 3's.

Bunkers 7/10 Raked firm sand

Rough 8/10 Healthy in many spots a few dry areas here and there but not to bad.

Overall/Layout---I am hoping today is the last hot day in September---really looking forward to some cooler afternoons in the fall here. Overall I thought the course was in pretty good shape. Last 5 holes will challenge you as well as #6.

Round 3 of 4 on the Bday specials. I must admit I have never seen Soule Park in such good shape! My buddies Pedro, Mack and I played the Orange Tees 6541yds this morning 9/9/2013 as a threesome teeing off at 6:50am. Weather was perfect. POP 3 hours 45 minutes.

Greens 8.5/10 Rolling beautiful, cut thin, very little old ballmarks present, they were in great shape. Probably rolling close to a 10 on the stimp. Many different pin locations here on undulating greens. You will earn your pars here on some of these complexes. I was very impressed with the greens this morning.

Fairways 8.5/10 Probably the best I have ever seen these fairways---and I have been playing here for 10-12 years. They were semi-lush, green and there were no hard pan areas at all. Some areas had some minor wet spots and mud but nothing to severe. They were a treat to hit off of. I experienced every fairway on the front 7/7 and only one fairway on the back nine 1/7...keep up the good work on these fairways and greens Soule.

Tees 8/10 Lush, green and mostly all of them were level. Very little pitch marks on the par 3 tee boxes.

Sand Bunkers: 7/10... I was in two bunkers today greenside#4 and fairway #12 and both contained quality raked clay like dark brown sand that was damp. Overall good shape.

Rough 8/10..In places like left rough on #18 fairway it was thick and lush. Other areas had some hardpan moments but for the most part it was good quality.

Layout and Overall: I only paid a cart fee this morning with a bday special but I don't know how this course is only charging $24.00 to walk in the morning during the week. With the current conditions so great I think if you live semi-close this is the best deal around. In the summer though you want to try and play it close to first out due to the heat. The layout is strong with at least 3 par 4's that will test the best of players and the long 240yd par 3 6th hole. Staff is always friendly here and you can't beat the views and peace and quiet. I will return for some fall rounds here.

Today was the start of 4 free bday rounds for me. Played Vineyard this morning 9/3/2013 at 10am with my buddy Mack and two of his buddies from the tips. Weather was a bit hot for even Oxnard but basically beautiful golf weather. Don't know what it is about this course but it always kills me! The Lakes course was closed starting today so we decided to play Vineyard. The course was in beautiful shape---expect Kikuyu tees and fairways that are lush and in great shape. The rough is also Kikuyu and in great shape and thick in spots. I would rate all of the aspects of the course a solid 8 to 8.5. The greens here are tricky and they were listed this morning at a 10.5 stimp. They are poa annua surfaces that were rolling pretty well. They held shots with spin. I would rate them an 8. The bunkers that I was in were very nicely raked and had nice soft sand, rated also an 8. Well done Vineyard course you are in good shape!

Tee Time: 3pm Friday Aug 23rd super twilight rate of 15 bucks walking. Played with buddy and GK member Barkydog1.

POP: 4 hours 35 minutes

Tees: Blue

Weather: 85 degrees warm with 10mph wind

Greens: 5/10...Man I hated the greens today...poa afternoon greens that were bouncy and could not hold a putt online. You might have a 5 footer that you miss the line it hits a bump and goes in for you. They were a crapshoot. They held like darts and were soft and spongy on the spikes.

Fairways 7/10 I was impressed to see the grass this lush with the heat Thousand Oaks can have. Not to many bare spots. The fairways are Kikuyu so you don't get much roll out here so the course plays longer than the yardage states.

Tees 6.5/10 Most of the tees were level and some of the 3 par's had divot damage but overall they were better than average.

Bunkers 6.5/10 Was in the greenside bunker left on #12 and it contained firmer sand that was raked. Most bunkers looked on the firmer side however my buddy had a fried egg on hole 1 right greenside bunker

Rough 6/10 Dry in spots, thick in others, inconsistent from hole to hole

Layout: Don't even know how to rate it---the front nine and back nine are two different courses The front nine is a whopping 700 yds shorter than the back nine!! Scoring is done on the front nine here and hanging on is done on the back nine.

Overall: Probably a two times a year course for me if I am invited out by friends. Can't recommend this course due to the bumpiness of the greens.
