Tee Time: Sat August 17th 2:27pm 33 bucks to walk playing with USCDodger, BarkyDog1 and Pedro7170

Tees and POP: Blue and 4:45 min

Weather- 15 mph wind to start, died down some on back nine---mid 60's

Greens 7.5/10---The greens were firmer here today than some of my last several rounds here. They held on line more today than several rounds ago. There are still an ample amount of ballmarks on some of the par 3's and some greens that get plastered with some short irons in but overall I thought they were an improvement from last couple times out.

Fairways: 8/10... Green, semi firm and semi lush and in very nice shape.

Tees: 8.5/10 Cut low, perfect level tees with great lush grass...only tee #17 placement was sloped

Bunkers: 8.5/10 White beach sand, raked and in great condition

Layout and Overall: Some holes to score on the front nine and some really great challenges on the back nine in the afternoon, always a fun round here begging you to come back. For sure a summer course, they raised their rates a little. Course is becoming very popular especially with the current conditions and summer climate.

Tee Time: Monday 8/12/2013 at 2:00pm with buddies Pedro and Mack walking for 27 bucks

Tees: Blue

Weather: 85 degrees, 10-12 mph swirling for most of the day

Greens: 7/10...Looks like they put some topdressing or did some kind of minor maintenance with verticut maybe a little while ago. Some putts bounced and the greens were generally slower than usual today. They are by no means in bad shape just not the normal smooth perfect roll you can get out here. They held shots nicely.

Fairways: 7/10... They were in good condition but looked and played a little dry, I know water is scarce in this area. Good news is you will get a lot more roll currently.

Tees: 7.5/10...Some divot damage on the par 3's, otherwise flat and nice looking tees with enough coverage

Rough 8/10 I rate the rough lining several fairways and green an 8 in that it is lush, green and is very tricky(sometimes 3-4 inches). My friend had a deep tough lie behind #2 green and my other buddy had problems just left of #18 fairway finding his ball. Its juicy and is a challenge and adds some character to the course.

Fringes 8/10 Good and beautiful shape

Bunkers 7/10 Hard packed firm sand, if you can play out of these bunkers you got game.

Layout: 9/10 When the wind picks up this place will challenge you. Rustic is a must play if you have not played it.

Played out this morning 8/5/13 at 9:00am with a coupon for 20 bucks with two buddies Pedro and Mack. POP was 3 hours 55 minutes walking. Tees, Fairways, Fringes, Rough and bunkers were all good and the quality was the same as my last review here 3 days ago on Friday 8/2/13. Did want to mention that about half of the greens on the Lakes course this morning had slits in them that effected putting.

Played out this morning Friday 8/2/2013 at 6:43am with GK members Rikeda, RGM2525 as part of GK North match play. We walked the blue tees in 3 hours 50 minutes. Course is in great shape. Greens true, pure with light sand topdressing rolling around a 10.5 to 11. Little slower than last week but in great shape and very true. Fairways were very nice lush green bermuda grass sitting up lies, very few wet spots from morning dew. One bunker I was in on #14 green side was very wet but contained nice sand underneath. Tees were all level and lush with some minor divot damage on the par 3's. Staff and pace of play was wonderful. Just an awesome layout and for the price we paid this morning thanks to a certificate it was a steal. Can recommend this course for sure to anyone.

Tee Time: 6:42am Thursday 7/25/2013

Tees: Blue

Weather: 60 degrees at tee off no wind

Price: $35.00 walking- they also have loyalty program for 30 bucks in the morning which is a steal for weekday morning times.

POP: 3 hours 35 minutes waiting on some shots behind 1st group out.

Greens: 9/10 Rarely do I rate greens a 9 or 10 but you need to come out and play here quick. They are PGA tour quality. Super quick listed as an 11.5 (1st three greens were probably quicker than that). They held shots and high irons with spin and were such a treat to putt on. I wish this course was right outside of my backyard so I could play these greens twice a week.

Fairways 8/10 Nice green fairways with perfect lies. Summer grass has come in nice. Early in the morning there were some wet spots. Very nice shape

Tees: 7.5/10 All tees were level, some of the 3 par's with some divot damage. Green and lush for the most part

Bunkers 7.5/10 Bunkers were raked and held beach sand this morning. They looked to be on the firm side but they had great quality to them. I sampled the greenside bunker on #7 and it was in great shape

Rough 8/10 Lush rough lining the fairways, some of it was mowed down between 1-3 inches.

Layout 9/10 From the blue (almost 6900) or black tees (7170) you will use every club in your bag. I have a soft spot for the back nine on this course with its 3 par 5's. I think the front is some tough sledding. Had a great round today thanks to no wind and no waiting. The course plays more difficult in the afternoon.

Recommended for sure!

Enjoyed an early morning round this morning 7/23 with buddies and GK members Nickesquire1 and Barkydog1. We walked the blue tees at 6:15am and finished at 10:30am..only a couple groups in front of us. Weather was perfect for golf--no wind and about 60-68 degrees from start to finish. The fairways are semi-lush to lush green grass. They are completing some minor maintenance on fairways #18, #1 and #2. I thought the fairways were in very good shape. Tees are always level here and are semi-lush in good shape. Some par 3's have some divot damage. Was not in any bunkers but they seemed more compact at this time in the morning according to my buddies. Greens are actually putting a little firmer than say last month. In the morning the greens and fringes were holding irons like darts. I would say they are putting anywhere between a 9 and 9.5. There are some ball marks present on the green but they still rolled fairly true. Staff was wonderful and got us out right when we showed up on the waiting list.

Played Rustic with BarkyDog1 walking the blue tees in just under 4 hours with a late twilight time. Nice day for golf with a 10 mph wind on the front and no wind on the back nine.

Fairways were just mowed and looked green and lush. I really commend the maintenance crew with the heat this course must have had in the last month or so. I would rate the fairways an 8/10 with hardly any divot damage, lush fairways with perfect lies.

The tees were beautiful and lush and mostly all level maybe besides #17 which they need to level on the blue stones, I would rate the tees an 8.5/10. They are in great shape

The fringes are in great shape and are cut tight.

The rough was in great shape and was lush in many spots maybe up to 3 inches.

The greens were the healthiest I have seen in a while. They are actually very soft and receptive for Rustic's usual standard. They had very little ballmarks. For my personal taste I thought they putted slow around a 9 on the stimp. I know they probably need to keep them longer right now due to the heat. I would still rate them close to an 8 out of 10.

Bunkers looked to be all raked and compact.

POP and staff were A+.

I really look forward to my end of summer and fall rounds here. If you have not been to Rustic in a while I think its in real good shape and is always a blast to play...have fun

Tee Time: Monday 7/1/2013 playing with my buddy Mack and his buddy

Tees: Blue

Weather: Reached as high as 85 hot sun in afternoon.

POP: Walked it in 4 hours 40 minutes behind many golfers on the course.

Greens: 7.5/10 Greens were healthy looking, little ballmarks and putting in pretty good shape. Our group noticed though that some greens were slow, some were more firm...this could be frustrating on chips and lag putts with not a consistent speed from green to green. Did not bother me much but just an interesting observation.

Fairways 7.5/10 I thought the fairways were in good shape for Sterling. I don't play here much but remember the fairways being dry last time I was out here so kudos for the staff and shape of the fairways. Our group found a few over watered spots but overall they were in decent shape.

Bunkers 7/10 I was in 3 greenside bunkers that had a crusty top surface but plenty of sand underneath. No issues with the sand and they were nicely raked traps.

Tees: 5/10 This course really needs to level the tees especially the 3 pars. Number 8 and number 15 come right to mind as horrible teeing grounds. Most other boxes contained good turf.

Rough: 7/10 Thick up to a couple to 3 inches in spots lining the fairways...good shape

Overall 6/10....ayy... not that big of fan of the layout..buddy wanted to play here today...much nicer courses out there for your money....

Tee Time: Friday 6/28/2013 2:04pm playing with buddies and GK members Pedro7170 and Barkydog1

Tees: Blue

Weather: 77 degrees light winds around 5-10... perfect golf conditions!!

Fairways 8.5/10....Prob the best I have seen the fairways here. Lush, perfectly cut, nice presentation, no bad lies, decent amount of roll

Bunkers 8.5/10...Raked beach sand in almost perfect condition, ample amount of sand, one buddy was in one bunker that looked a little wet

Tees: 8.5/10..Would be rated a 9 for me if it wasn't for just minor divot damage on the par 3's. All tees are level, lush and perfectly cut

Greens 7/10...They still need to be cut in my opinion but they were green and in pretty decent shape, rolling probably close to a 9 on the stimp, still a little slow and you have to be aggressive to make putts here.

Rough 8/10...Little bit of a change I saw here the rough was green. lush and 3 inches just off the fairways..prob grown out for the City tournament. Past the cartpaths they have really let it grow like when they first opened the course. My one buddy was in the knee deep high stuff twice and both times we almost had to step on it to find it after watching it go in.

POP: We had a slow group in front of us so it took 4 hours 45 minutes walking.

Recommended especially this time of year.

Played a couple of days ago with GK member and buddy Barkydog1 from the blue tees at their sunset rate of $16.00 bucks walking. We finished in 4 hours. With it getting dark at 8:30pm you can tee off late here(4:00pm ish) and still finish. This is one of the better deals around. The conditions were very good. The greens were smooth, fast and listed at an 11.5 on the starter shack. I think they were rolling close to a 10.5 stimp. No ball marks and held irons nicely. They are poa greens. The fairways were lush with not that much roll. Hardly any fairway divots and in good shape. I was in 2 bunkers that seemed firm on the top surface but held enough sand underneath. The tees were lush and level. The rough is between 2-3 inches lining the fairways and is lush and in great shape. I believe they just had the City Championships and this is the time of the year to play this course. They have 3 strong par 4's here and the island finishing hole is a demanding par 3 191 yds into the wind to an island green. I prefer the lakes layout but would for sure recommend this course to anyone especially their twilight and sunset rates. Well done River Ridge!

Played Soule Park this morning(6/17) at 10:50am with Pedro7170 and his buddies. The course is in great shape set to host the US Open Senior qualifier this Wed 6/19. The greens were running around a 10.5 on the stimp and were in great shape. It seemed like the first 3 greens were faster than the others? I would rate the greens a 8.5 with very little ballmarks. The greens here are one the of the courses defenses and several are very undulating. I think the pin sheet has 7 or 8 different hole locations they can use. They held shots very nicely today. The fairways were in very good shape. Lush, green with moderate amount of roll. Did not encounter one hard pan lie today. I would rate them an 8. I was in one bunker left greenside on #3 and is contained some nice sand to it. I would rate that specific bunker a 7. The tees were almost all level and lush. the rough was rated a 7 and was anywhere from 2-3 inches. Some of it was lush. It was hot today in Ojai around 88 degrees. So if you are walking this course like we were during the middle of the day bring some water. We paid $24 to walk in the morning which is a great deal!. Staff very friendly in the pro-shop. Will return for sure.

Played Riveridge Lakes earlier in the week with RGM2525 and my buddy Mack. The course is in great shape. The greens for me were rated a 9 as they are pure fast and probably rolling close to a 12 on the stimp. Do not be above the hole. What a treat to putt these greens. They also held approaches. Prob the best greens I have seen this calender year. The fairways were in good shape. I would rate them a 7.5-8, ample turf, green very few divots. I was in 3 greenside bunkers and they were all in good shape would rate them a 7.5. The rough was green lush and in good shape rated an 8. Tees were level some divot damage rated a 7 for me.

It did not effect me as much as my playing partners but I do think that I have to mention it and it was the pace of play. From what I understand they have soccer golf on the course right next door which is the Vineyard course. This is I guess a cool concept if you like to play soccer and something different. But for us golfers its not to cool. What happens is all the Vineyard tee times get sent to the Lakes course and you have a jammed course. It took us a little over 5 hours to play on a weekday and that is no fun for anyone. I have some hardcore golfer friends that want to continue to give their business to this course. The Lakes course is one of the best courses in the county and the conditions are great right now. I am concerned though if soccer golf continues the course will just be to crowded for weekday/weekend golf. I am going to call the pro-shop to inquire about further details.

Keep up the good work on the conditions River Ridge---highly recommended.
