Tee Time- 815 Sunday, October 29th
Green Fee- 65$... Might be worth this
Weather- Perfect, 80 degrees, sunny
Tees- Tips
Pros- Greens rolled ok, not to many pitch marks but slower than average. Some nice layout of holes and not a bad day to play. Pro shop is ok. Number 18 fountain and layout is a great hole. POP was fine, just about 4 hours
Cons- Course is overseeding boxes still, tees were in goofy spots. Sand was a bit crusty. Rough and fairways were not grown in fully and needed some more work.
Overall, its not a bad layout and I would come back and play, if it meant that there were not more desirable options out there.

Weather- 50's chilly... wet ground
Pros- Awesome layout, great overall conditions. Greens were fast and true.
Cons- Fairways had some fungus, some burned out spots, but not much to not like here
Overall;- Long trek, bad location, great golf course.

Tee Time- 808 10/7 Birthday Round
Green Fee- Free, worth that any day, friends paid 108, marginally worth that
Tees- Blacks
Weather- Perfect
Pros- Greens rolled perfect. Layout has some excitement but isn't too flashy. Fairways had some good grass and a handful of dry spots but overall not bad. Pace of play 4 hours on the nose, not bad.
Cons- This course is way too expensive normally. The course had a ton of GUR and the rough was spotchy. Way to much water on the fairways and some spots that were so wet that we could spin out the golf cart... Not recommended.
Overall, not a bad layout, conditions were average or slightly better, greens were nice, Never pay full price.

Tee Time- 6:50am Wednesday, 9/19
Green Fee- 183 plus 20 for cart... Not even close to worth it
Tees-Shhhhh. Tips, sneaky fellow I am
Weather- San Diego Perfect
Pros- Torrey Pines South from the tips is a beast of a course. The layout has history and the shots, sights, and sounds around the course feel amazing. Our tee time was perfect as we got our bags in the line early and received course knowledge from the locals waiting in the dark. The burger at the lodge was fantastic, as was the breakfast sandwich. Views are great. Layout is amazing
Cons-The conditions, were, borderline pathetic. This course had terribly burned out rough and horrible divots on every green. No pride by players here. I must have fixed 20 divots per green. The fairways were marginal and burned up in some places. I am glad that I played it to cross it off the list, but the price tag is laughable.
Overall, hard to ever justify a 2 hour drive to a course that is gonna cost 200 dollars to play in this shape. Glad it is crossed off my list, but really don't see a reason to go back and play.

Tee Time- 845 Monday, Labor Day, 9/3
Green Fee- $75, just about the right number here for the condition
Tees- Tips
Weather- 70's to start, 90's to finish
Pros- Love the layout and the overall atmosphere. Course always gives you a challenge but rewards good play. This course suits my eye very well and I love some of the layout options. Risk reward seems to favor reward for the player who is willing to stick their neck out. #2 is a great par 3 with some really tough shots if you don't hit the green. The stretch of holes from #2 thru #7 may be my favorite stretch of golf course around.(And I played them poorly this time... sigh)
Cons- Conditions are, by GC standards, down. That being said they are still nice. Some burnouts on the greens, some fairway heat marks. Sand is a bit shallow in a bunker or two, but the cons here are always nicer than most places. I compare late August/ early September conditions here to a mediocre meal at a 5 star restaurant. Better than McD always.
Overall, play here, by happy, no disappointments.

Green Fee- $16(+$5 pullcart)... I would pay 3 times this twilight
Weather- Breezy, 20 mph, great temperature
Pros- Greens were perfect. Fast and slick, no divot marks. Rough was penal but not deadly, great condition. Bunkers were immaculate, played out of 3 and actually enjoyed the sand. Staff is friendly. Marshals do a good job of pace of play. Played in 4 hours on the nose.
Cons- Very small con, punching the fairways in some places. No big deal really, just an inconvenience. Lift clean and place
Overall- SPEND THE MONEY AND PLAY HERE>>>> ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY

Weather- hot
Pros- greens were smooth. Great layout. Bunkers are surprisingly nice.
Cons- ton of bare spots. Fairway and rough are bare... And I mean bare. Grass sucks, kikuya is really inconsistent. Tee boxes are long and divot ridden everywhere. Black boxes are in poor shape.
Overall great layout. Conditions are terrible. Only play it once a year in a pinch.

Pros: GK Match Play Semifinals and I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions. We continued as a group to comment on the quality of the course, the greens, and the maintenance. For the dollar value, tee to green, this course did a fairly good job of maintenance.
Cons- Tee boxes were a little chewed up... and I don't much care for kikuyu grass.
Overall, will go back.

Weather- 119 degrees... Wow
Tees- tips 7400 yes
Green fee- $40... Always worth this... Basically stealing.
Pros- layout is wide open but a challenge. Great track. Opening hole to closer is great. Holes 5&6 are awesome. Great use of water and hilly designs. Conditions for the time of year are amazing. Ball rolled alright on the greens but remember its 120 degrees. Plenty of water stations.
Cons- condition was not as it is in the season... Like fall and spring. This is a 9 or 10 out of season for me in past experience and is only diminished because the heat won't allow it to stay that way in summer.
Overall, unless directly after a punch... I will play this place for the challenge and the experience. Top notch

Tee time- sat 145 8/11
Weather- 115 degrees... Deadly hot. Survived it
Tees- tips
Green fee- $29... Worth it for sure... But we paid cheap
Pros- mediocre layout. Rough was in decent shape. Pete dye older design showed sickness of railroad ties, grass bunkers, and tough visual. Layout had some great holes... Example. I believe #6 is one of the most interesting par 3 I have ever played, even in the heat and course condition.
Cons- fairways, greens, tee boxes, sand... All thrashed. It's just so hot they can't do anything. Thick grass is unplayable off the fairway is nutsy. Service was ok...
Overall, not too much here. I would never play this place for anything over 50$ regardless of conditions... The desert just has too many courses to play here. A couple nice holes doesn't make the track overall that great.

Tee Time- Saturday, August 4th 2pm
Green Fee- $65 twilight member for a day card, worth the layout and but this day not worth the conditions
Tees- Tips
Weather 85 sunny
Pros- Wonderful layout and always great staff. The Kia Classic for the ladies was here before and the qualifier for the Northern Trust and a number of quals for US Open are here. Layout is awesome. Hilly championship design challenges everyone. Challenging course that is a hidden gem to many in the Ventura/Westside area. 30 min from downtown. Both front and back force a difficult stretch on you. Holes 4-7 are d%mn near impossible to break par on as a group, as is the 12-16 stretch. Course really tests accurate driving and consistant play. Greens right now are fabulous
Cons- Tough for me to even really fill in this box because I normally love this course, one of my top 2 or 3 around, but the conditions were terrible. The heat must be munching this course up because except for perfect greens, this course is chewed up. This time of year is tough in the IE but these guys always have great conditions except for about 1 month out of the year. Played in May and it was perfect, now it is not good. Fairways are bare, rough is splotchy. Give it a couple weeks, let the weather cool down some, and get out and play this place. I think they are making a grass switch with season and it is causing some tough conditions.
Overall, disappointed with conditions but a good experience is a couple cooler weeks away, will be back early Sept.
If you like the challenge, which most that read my posts know I do, play here.

Tee Time- Monday, July 30th, 130
Green Fee- 48$, worth it 100 times over
Tees- Tips
Weather- 85 sunny, little breeze
Pros- This course is in great shape right now. For those who don't know, the rustic nature of this golf course means that the rough isn't going to be uniform, the bunkers and waste areas are going to be remote, and the dry creek beds are going to be fully of scraggly brush, but this is the design. The only perfect lie is going to be smack in the middle of the fairway. The rough is penal because it is blotchy, ball sits down in little rifts between grass clumps and forces interesting swings and attack angles. The course is super green. Fairways and greens are full and rolling hard(summer conditions) but are not crazy like sometimes in the past. Tee boxes are wonderful and I must say I am really excited to see the course is maturing around the bunkers in the long fescue. Not much more to say about pros, this course is reviewed alot.
Cons- Typical Rustic complaints. The few par three's that are easy to fire at, IE #8, are pot marked with repaired marks. Its a shame because there really isn't much that can be done about that green. I would say that the downside to this course is simple. The ball marks make all putts tough. It isn't that they don't get repaired, its that the course gets so much play its tough to avoid them and the nature of the putting surfaces, firm and linksy, make putting a challenge already.
Overall, course is in top 10% of times played conditions wise. Get out there and enjoy a good course, for a great price and fairly straightfoward, but difficult test of links golf.
