3/7 842 tee off right on time 420 POP with some waiting on the front 9 and not so much after that. Breezy but nice overall. Easy friendly check in, large putting green with comparable speed to course conditions but not the slopes that are likely encountered. DR from soft mats. Chipping area being punched and sanded with the rest of the course about 2 weeks out.
Fairways are on the thin side but with the softer turf still good for irons and hybrids but often tight for fairway metals. Quite a few divots many un attended especially inside the cart limits. Rough is cut down with some longer areas next to the greens. Bunkers have ample sand and were recently groomed. Some had 1 rake others 3-4.
Tees are level with some being thin to the point of patchy.
Greens are in pretty good shape medium fast and mostly smooth. Quite receptive for well struck approach shots but firm enough to leave some speedy chips. Putting is a chalenge made more so by what appears to be a "volcano" effect at the cup as putts seem to brak both ways at the cup. Reaaly like the use of 6 zones and the varied locations even within those zones providing some tucked pins.
Palm card provides a weekday rate of $50 which is very fair for the quality experience.

3/2 1200 tee time looked busy but moved along for a 4 hr POP. Course is a very basic layout and very flat. Fairways were apparently over seeded and green in color but mostly thin tight lies. Rough is dormant and brown so visually there is a nice contrast. No carts allowed on the fairway. Tees were thin and varied from firm to hard. Bunkers had adequate sand. Greens were mostly small grainy and bumpy but rolling about medium. The course was originally 9 holes so the newer 9 has larger greens but still marginal conditions. The layout is different as there is the first 6 holes then a mile drive to the midille cluster and then a mile back for the 4 finishing holes. Some water but not really in play. The proshop attendent/starter/cart person was a gem and kept every thing moving even as she did check in, took money got carts and lined up the groups. Very friendly and welcoming. Rack rate of 50 was a bit much considering the conditions and design.

2/20 GK play with Steve and Kevin very enjoyable round. Do not pass up any opportunity to play here. Prior reviews sum it up. Challenging but fair. Great mix of holes and excellant conditions. Setting comes as quite a suprise as it is carved into the landscape above the river valley. Highly reccomend.

2/19 GK plays out with Matt0(cup match oponent Kevin and Joe entertaining to say the least and enjoyable to watch the bombs fly on a warm enough sometimes breezy morning with a 420 POP. Course is in pretty good shape, layuout is forgiving for the most part with ample fairways and areas to aim for to avoid trouble. Fairways fairly tight but nice lies and roll out. Rough did not seem to be that penal. bunkers filled with fine but nicely compacted sand that still required attention and good form. Tees level and ok with some 3s a little worn.
Greens provided another level of defense with tiers and rolling contours and some down right wicked pins.
Mostly level layout with some greens slightly raised. Water in play particularilly on 16 and 18.

2/14 beautiful SC morning 75 or so with an occassional breeze for an ideal nid winter day with 420 POP which seemed slower due to our 3some following a string pf 4somes--besides I for 1 have learned to play bad golf quickly. Conditions overall reflect winter influence along with heavy play. Fairways are thin with areas of marginal coverage giving tight lies good roll and soft enough soil to allow for good strikes with proper execution. That being said there are divots galore with 90 % filled but with recent weather they have not yet healed.
Rough recently mowed to about 1-2 inches through out so really not as penal as sometimes.
Tees level mostly thin with lot of filled divots on the 3s. Bunkers well filled with mostly deep heavy sand which for meposes a challenge--its me not the bunkers.
Greens are tough as pin locations in 1 of 6 zones were often placed in areas of the zone that left little margin for error. Greens were quick but receptive for well struck shots.
Staff members are friendly and welcoming.

2/9 guru outing playing with Wendy Steve and Marvin very enjoyable and compatible partners. Warm sunny breezy afternoon with 420 POP. Fairways are currently dormant and thin but are expected to grow with the onset of warm weather. Rough mostly dry and whispy. Tees level and playable. Bunkers have really white sand mostly fine and somewhat varied in consistency as some groomed areas seemed heavier and less forgiving. Bunkers are large and often require a significant carry to reach the green. I found 7-8 of them and struggled.
Greens are firm and fast seemingly from all directions with plenty of slope humps and tiers. I had 8 1 putts of 4-5 feet and one in from the rough by the fringe. Unfortunetly or fortunetly they were mostly for bogey or on occasion double--shot 100 even with those heroics which also included a couple of 3 putts.
Staff very friendly. Large putting green small driving rancge and an additional practice area including a bunker.

2/3 using black Friday special $110 2some with 2 small buckets for play after 10. Check in very smooth and got to tee off right on time with some quality time spent with Tom the starter who is efficient and quite entertaining. We were to be paired with another 2some that was a no show so we followed a series of 4somes for a 430 POP which seemed slower as we waited on every shot. Group ahead seemed unusually slow as some of their actions were not well organized but they were essentially in position but hard to watch.
Fairways are healthy with thick tight turf with only a few thin lies. Quite a few divots mostly filled . Lies were good and there was ample cushion while being firm enough for extra roll. Rough tended to be lighter and only marginally penal along the fairways while being thicker and often clumpy near the greens leaving some very challenging shots depending on the lie.
Tees mostly level more on the thin side and often firm. Par 3s a liitle worn and the drop areas on 7 and 9 were well used and chewed up. Bunkers looked good but were often thin over a firm base unless the lie was on an up slope where the sand was deeper.
Greens are really good with healthy thick growth and well maintained. Receptive for full shots while quick for chips and pitches. Speed medium fast and smooth with more pace down hill. Greens are on the larger side and today pins were often tucked toward the perimeters. Some tricky breaks as topography is definitely an influence and not always easy to percieve.
Fum varied layout on an almost perfect SC winter day.

1/24 and 1/26 both beautiful SC winter mornings with comfortable POPs of 410. Easy check ins with friendly staff. Fairways are winter dormant faded green and mostly tight lies with some thin areas. Course is getting ample water so underlying turf is soft so pretty good for ironms but more challenging for fw metals. Also due to softer conditions there are a lot of divots with more than 1/2 unfilled especially beyond the cart signs.
Rough is varied with some thicker pockets alonfg fairways generally on the slopes and some really gnarly areas around the greens.
Tees are mostly level with good cover with some divot damage on the par 3s. Bunkers have heavy sand recently groomed and partially raked by previous players. Now that rakes are back it shpould not be that hard to pick one up and take care of your tracks but I guess the same goes for filling divots.
Greens are soft and receptive for full shots and yet quick for most chips and pitches. Players seem to be doing a better job fixing pitch marks as there were very few to repair. Speed today was medium fast--noted as 10 heading to #1. Pins are placed in 6 zones and within these zones there is still ample room to provide additional variety..Putts rolled prety well mostly smooth with just a few slight bumps I think due to their softness. By observation putts seem to wander away from the hole if the pace is intended ti die in. We saw some putts break both ways on similar lines. These subtle breaks or lack there of caused a lot of head shaking.
Very enjoyable rounds on a good lauyout.

1/18 guru outing with Steve, David and Johnny on a coolish bmostly overcast day with hardly any waiting with 415 POP. Layout winds through the canyons and even with homes on the perimeter there is a remote feel. Course design is mostly quite playable with wider fairways and visible bunkers. I think is plays longer than the stated yardage as many holes have uphill approaches. However there are a couple of par 3s that have quite a dramatic descent.
Fairways have good cover with the front 9 seemingly with more lush conditions as the back 9 had some thin tight lies. We had CPO on 5-6 holes which appeared to have been in place for some time as there were sand bottles place in those fairways. Mosdivots were filled. Roiugh was not much of an issue.
Tees level with good cover. Bunkers have well compacted sand and were generally playable.
Greens here are large with tiers undulations and slope. Some have unusual characteristics with some hollows toward the back of the green so theren are some potential pin placements that could be downright nasty. Greens are healthy, receptive for well struck aproach shots while being quick for chips and pitches.
n Carts with interactive GPS, nice practice area and very friendly welcoming staff. I would play here again in a heart beat.

1/12 $28 using teeoff dealtime was able to join a 2some and get out about 30 min early but still puit in a 430 POP which was mostly on our group as we started slowly waiting for the 1st 4 holes then just continued to meander even as the groups ahead moved out, also there was no push from behind until the last 2 holes.
Conditions were mixed with the greens bing the highlight, very healthy and well maintained, receptive to full shots while being deceptively quick with some subtle breaks both from the slope and to an extent the grain. Tees thin and damaged on the 3s. Bunkers either had heavy sand or some really coarse river sand.
Fairways were marginal with varied grasses some thin sandy areas and a few patches of good grass. Recent rains/floods did not help. Rough also patchy.
Carts have good GPS. Large putting green. Range with soft mats. Friendly staff.

1/10 850 tee time off a bit early with POP about 410 with some waiting. Easy check in from friendly staff and in the process of commenting on the rate ($50) with the palm card being reasonable for the quality of the course the helpful staff member commented that GK had named Arrowood best value for 2021 and was very appreciative of the recogition.
Fairways were generally ok but more on the thin side and showing the effect of colder temps. Lies were mostly tight but still had good cushion as the underlying soil was damp and soft. Too many unfilled divots which is a shame as quality divot mix is provided. Rough is not very long but is a factor as it impedes forward roll and depending on the lie can cause further consternation. Areas around the greens are particularilly challenging.
Most tees are in good shape with the par 3s showing more wear. Bunkers have good sand and were freshly groomed and with rakes provided most were in good shape.
Greens are receptive medium fast and tricky with subtle reads as we had a lot of rim shots on what appeared to be well struck putts.
Good layout golfer oriented staff quality practice areas and carts with excellent GPS.

1/3 guru outing playing with Marvin and Andrew, very enjoyable company, on a nice warmish SC winter day. Due to lingering effects from the recent storm playing conditions were extra tough. CPO which led to much walking of the hilly terrain and more so as it seemed that most of my shots missed to the opposite side away from the path. Lot of wet areas and due to the winds lot of leaves on the perimeters. This is a challenging layout with fairly narrow tree lined fairways and hills galore.
The greens are on the smaller side with plenty of slope as many seemed to have been carverd into a hillside. Greens were in good condition mostly firm and fast rolling well but tough to read.
I played the Masters 9 and then surrendered as I was very much out of sync and worn down by the CPO and resulting multiple safaris. Hard decision to make but discretion was the better part of valor.
Definetly would recommend the course but as some one commented previously==bring your A game.
