12/13 looked for a convienient course with limited play to avoid a 5 hr round playing with friend visiting from Utah in PS for a pickleball tourney. Had not played here for over 20 years and did not remember the course as being so basic. POP was great at just under 3 hr with no one insight. Older coiurse with fairly wide fairways with some trees on the perimeters. A few gullies to carry and some water hazards that are only in play if you are really wide of your taRGET. Everything is green and well watered. Fairways had mostly good cover with some thin areas. Rough a little spotty but mostly about 2 inches and juicy. Tees were not always level anf it appeared that the markers on the par 3s had been left inthe same location for a week or more as there was considerable divot damage. Design has 6 par 3s and 5 par 5s. Bunkers had no rakes and contained moderately groomed heavy damp sand.
Greens were soft a little damp and somewhat bumpy to start.rolling medium speeds. Complexes are on the smaller side in keeping with the age of the course but were still tricky as most have considerable slope and with so me pins tucked near edges the holes were fairly well defended.
Used UP $99 2some after 10% cyber discount came with ranger balls. Grass rannge basic cart no GPS. Easy casual check in by friendly staff.

11/18 guru outing with right at 4hr POP with limited waiting on the last few holes. Course is in overall good shape benefitting from the 5 week closure for maintainence. Fairways have good cover and cushion being soft and somewhat damp so not much roll amd with the softness there were a lot of divots created but on the first few holes most had been filled. However as the round progressed the filled divots rose to about 50% and sometimes more inside the cart signs.
Rough was not that long but would definitelu stop forward roll and being very healthy and in places juicy and grabby making some recovery shots a challenge.
Tees are in good shape. Bu nkers are stunning in appearance being filled with a bright white mediium fine grained sand that contrasts well with the deep green fairways. All bunkers have the same sand so those in the fairway are a little soft and make for difficult shots. Green side ones are more playable for the typical sand shot. The fronthttp://blog.greenskeeper.org/ bunker on 13 looks to have some thin areas as the under lying dirt is somewhat visible and the divot left after the shot leace it exposed.
Green complexes are on the larger side and have areas for very challenging pin placements but today they were more accessible overall. Greens are healthy and consistent and even being somewhat softer and receptive they rolled out nicely on chips and pitches. Speed generally medium fast and rolling well. Greens have some subtle reaks and there is enough undulation to require atention and focus.
DR with mats but good cushion. Large putting green and separate green for chipping. Basic cart no GPS. Friendy staff easy check in.
Good layout with interesting variety.

11/15 nice fall morning with 415 POP. Greens are almost fully recovered a liitle soft and receptive. The rakes are back and even some were used. Tee boxes are mixed but all playable. Markers are being rotated daily. Fairways are a little tjhin but god cushion for irons, somewhat tight for metals. Some areas have numerous divots mostly inside the cart signs.
Very friendly staff.

11/9 guru outing playing with Johnny, Mark and Phil very entertaining and enjoyable. I played members, Johnny combo and the slammers blues. Fairways were lush while being closely cut and moist but not soggy, but on the soft side so not much roll. More unfilled divots than I expected some of which were quite large. Good lies for irons and hybrids a little tight for metals and tight also for chips and pitches especially with the softer soil a very crisp ball first was a must. Rough was generally lush but could be clumpy with different varieties of grass.
Members tees were level with some a bit thin but playable. The 4 bunkers I found had ample sand as my lie was on the up slope.
Greens were soft and receptive and vulnerable to pitch marks. Overall rolled well at medium fast speeds. Greens were more tricky than they looked as the breaks were subtle and grain could be a factor. Also most had a slight up slope fronting the complex so shots that hit short stayed short.
Layout looks very straight forward but trouble seemed too easy to find and did not provide much opportunity for heroic recoveries only more severe punishment.
Plentiful friendly and helpful staff.
Thanks to La Costa for having us and Johnny for setting up the outing.

11/8 806 tee off with just under 4 hr POP on a cool morning start with nice warning by 930. Fairways are mostly good with a few thin areas. Good lies and soft soil with some borderline wet areas. Rough is varied with some really juicy areas and challenging on the slopes around the greens. Way too many unfilled divots and with the moist conditions some are huge.
Tees are level vit many are thin. Bunkers without rakes--Why put them out when they were seldom used--lift and place rule in effect. Sand is quite good deep and well compacted and freshly groomed.
Greens are soft and very receptive for full shots. Front 9 about 85% recovered and thusly slower and at times bumpy. Back 9 95% recovered rolling much better and about medium fast. Lot of slowly healing pitch marks.
Staff is friendly and welcoming

11/3 using teeoff dealtime $30 with 3 1/2 POP on a coolish afternoon. Course is about 3 weeks post punching and is about 2 weeks from return to usual good quality as greens were not fully cut down and were rather slow as a result. Also had some occasional bumpiness but not too bad in that regard. Tees were mixed but playable. Bunkers have adequate sand but Fairways range from very good to needs help. About 70% have very good coverage with the remaining 30 being thin with some bare areas. Overall had good lies. Rough is mostly full with some thin patches and then some longer juicy areas that are a challenge.
Friendly staff easy check in and a welcoming attitude.
Carts are very basic and take a beating with all the construction and dirt paths to traverse. Construction project definitely affects the aesthetics. No range nor practice areas so come ready to play.

10/26 guru outing on a balmy mid morning with a POP of 440 following a couple of slowish 4somes. Course is still in post maintenance mode with 4-5 fairways CPO. Fairways are mostly on the thin side but after the overnight rain provided adequate cushion for irons but often tight lies for metals. Rough was quite varied with some showing residual from over seeding with row like growth about an inch in width. Some areas were comprised of patchy grasses with a few clumps to make the lies a roll of the dice. There were also some areas around the greens in the swales that were thick longish and juicy.
White tees were mostly ok with a few somewhat unlevel. Bunkers need help bing thin and hard packed with excess moisture as well.
Greens still showed holes from punching and were mostly bumpy and medium speed and probably due to the rain did not look to have been mowed this morning.
Layout is varied and scenic. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

10/21 guru outing nice day variable breeze POP 415 with no waiting and no pressure. Traditional parkland setting and even with adjacent homes there was a sense of isolation. Nice varied layout with a good mix of holes with a few blind shots over crests with water lurking. There is a rolling quality with no severe elevation changes but more than 1/2 the time a not so level lie and stance making for additional challenges especially with a downhill lie out of the rough with water covering 1/2 the approach on the left.
Fairways quire good for the most part with nice lies and only a few thin areas and some tight lies fronting many greens. Rough did not seem very long but was still on the sticky side.
Played the white tees and found them to be lush and level with the exception of 1 box where the markers were at the very front giving a slight slope. Bunkers were well groomed and had good quality sand.
Greens rolled well medium fast with sneaky breaks and were receptive to well struck full shots while providing considerable roll out for chips.
Range will mats and and abundance of balls. Large putting green that previewed on course conditions. Small pitching area but with a practice bunker. Comfortable carts with no GPS.
Staff very friendly and welcoming.

played 10/11 and 13 with POP 315 each day 100 tee off using deal time $30. Course is showing some pre maintenance conditions with probably less water overall. Fairways have some areas that have exceptionally good cover with really nice lies typically down the center. However there are some areas that range from thin to almost bare and there are some areas in front of a few greens that are in bad shape like they cut too close and burned out the grass.
Rough is cut down along fairways but still quite thick and challenging. Tees need some attention. There are a couple of new boxes that are not yet in play. Bunkers have ample sand and were mostly groomed.
Greens on Monday were soft and damp and on Wednesday firm and dry. Some have some significant damage with bare/dried out spots mostly toward the edges. Punching and sanding starts 11/18.

10/6 comfortable 4hr POP as we settled into a rhythm about 1/2 a hole behind and never had to wait and were not being pushed. Course is in fairly good condition anticipating fall maintenance beginning next week. Some areas have been de-thatched and some tees roto punched. Fairways were firm but still have good cover and cushion. Rough mostly cut down except on slopes around greens. Bunkers freshly groomed but NO rakes.
Greens more on the softer side so quite receptive but somewhat bumpy in places. Rolling medium/medium fast. The use of the 6 zones provides for some creative pin placements taking advantage of the contours and slope and really punishing short side misses.
Looking forward to returning in about 3 weeks.

9/28 used the course site $60 2 some to play a round with my son Grant who came out from Riverside. was able to get out a little early sent out as a 2some and was asked to play thru on 5 so POP was about 330 as we caught a 4 some on 15 and finished the round waiting on our shots. The 745 start gave us a mostly comfortable morning. DR not open until 8, carts basic with no GPS. Staff friendly and welcoming. Conditions remain consistent with prior reviews.
Rough not much of and issue along fairway but some really deep gorse type further afield. Fairways mostly ok with some thin spots and unfilled divots. Tees ok bunkers were groomed with adequate sand.
Greens rolled about medium speed having quite a bit of grain and a few bumps. Layout is interesting with good variety and enough water in play to add to the adventure.

9/27 used groupon/GN $31 teeing off at 11 paired with James and Pierce 20-30 yr olds and enjoyable partners for the 4 1/2 POP which seemed slow for this time of year as we waited on most every shot. Course will be open for about 4 more weeks. Current conditions are fairly good. Fairways are mostly a green shade with some brown area and good cover with soft subsoil. Some unfilled divots but not too bad for a resort course. Rough cut down and playable. Tees ok and bunkers with ample sand fine and compacted.
Greens were more on the firm side rolling medium fast with some grain and slope to factor in.
Had been 20+ yrs since I played here. Layout is interesting and varied with water an threat on many holes. Fairways are beyond rolling as there are humps and bumps every where and it seemed that the only place I had a level stance was on the tee.
Basic cart no GPS, friendly starter but not much other attention having to carry clubs down from the parking. All in all a good choice and a fun round.
