This was the other course I played Saturday that I thought deserved a little attention. It was a real pleasant surprise. I walked on in the afternoon and went right out to the first tee. I played through one group on the second hole and then caught other groups for the last few holes, so still a nice walking pace. $14 price maybe a tad steep for a 9-hole round, but this was definitely a step above some of the other basic pitch and putts I played that day. Par 29 with two short par-4s and then a good mix of par-3s. I liked this course because it has a nice look to it with big bunkers, greens with a lot of contour and well-defined rough/fairway/fringe cuts. The powerlines running through the course are a bit of detraction, though. Overall, it was in pretty good shape. I did noticed some burnt-out patches on a few fringes, but the greens, bunkers and fairways/rough were all pretty well maintained. They have mats set up for practice swings on each tee (so as not to tear up the grass), but then regular grass tee boxes to play from. That was an interesting concept and, of course, you can play from the mats if you prefer. Holes 8 and 9 are nice finishing par-3s with water in play and, in my opinion, this is one of the nicer short courses around. It's not worth going too far out of your way for, but for someone who lives nearby it's a great place for a fun practice round or to take beginners/kids. PS. They had signs up that they are aerating their greens starting 10/21.
