What a great course, what it gives with wide fairways it taketh on the greens. I will say that there a couple of holes that if the pin is in the wrong place your in trouble. I agree with comment below that everyone should replace their ballmark and someone else's. Approach shot on #14 and on #18 are really unfair. I have had wedges to both of those greens and have not been able to hold the ball with a staight shot near the pin. Hole #7 green might be the toughest green in Ventura County. Rating of 73.3 from the tips is accurate. Back nine is a humbler.

Started on # 10 and that was ok. The course is worth every $$. And if you like big greens this is the palce for you. Big smooth and fast. I like every thing about this course, walkable, fun and tuff.

Play RC on average at least once a week for the last six months and thoroughly enjoy the layout, design, challenge and value (see previous post in August). However, the incredibly slow play and lack of any attempt at increasing the speed of play I have reduced my rounds to only when I know the course is empty. I get the sense that tournament play and RC's incredible value place a lot of slow golfers on the course. It's a shame because, despite the comments by RC staff, I have seen a marshall maybe once in about twenty rounds. I can not beleive a 5+ hour round should be routine, and given my experience and all the comments player comments it is the norm. Alas, I love the course so I will play but much less frequently.

Played in a foursome on 2/13 with a 10:50 am tee time. Took about 5 hours to complete. (There were a lot of groups in front of us). Greens were very firm and pretty quick. It seems like most of our approach shots to the green bounced on and then bounced right off. The pin placements on the green were very brutal. They were either on a slope or on the edge of the green. Greens look like they will need to be aerated soon. Fairways were also very firm and a bit dry. Seems like the winds coming through this area are drying out the course. But I liked the layout of the course. There was a notice on the door that the greens fees are going up a couple bucks for play on Friday thru Sunday beginning 2/17.

Played Saturday 2/10, teeing off at 8:00am and finishing a few minutes before 1:00pm, largely thanks to the group in front who fell nearly two holes behind pace. No doubt this is a great walking course despite the distance between some holes, but I think guys who are 85 years old should probably get a cart for free. On the bright side, I hope I'm still occasionally walking golf courses when I'm 85. Rant aside, Rustic is in great shape right now. Greens are really firm and pretty quick, fairways are perfect as we've all come to expect. The rough remains problematic and is clumpy and spotty in a lot of areas - I guess you'd better just try keeping the ball on the short grass to avoid the frustration of horrid lies. I think spring aeration is coming up soon, either in the last week of Feb. or first week or so of March, so get out sooner rather than later. And for pete's sake, keep up with the group in front of you, would you? Thanks!

This is the sweetest course ever! If you have not had the pleasure, do whatever you have to do to get out at Rustic. Taking all factors into account (price, layout, staff, etc...), this is the best course I have ever been to.

The staff here is money. The layout is like no other course in So Cal. The links style layout will blow your mind if you have never played it before.

I have played almost every public course in orange, riverside, san bernardino, and los angeles counties...Rustic Canyon is the best hands down!!! I live 80 miles from this course and have been there at least 5 times in the last 2 1/2 months, it is just a pleasure to play.
