I haven’t played here in a number of years and wanted to give Legacy a chance. Played around 1036 on 6/23 and was paired with a twosome.
They have a great driving range and practice area. Range balls are included which isn’t noted on their booking engine. The golf carts here are newer and very comfortable with the Shark experience and GPS.
Course conditions were mostly poor especially the greens, tee boxes and bunkers. The greens were bare and very bumpy. Bunkers were either muddy messes or hard packed and crusty. Lots of bare spots on the fairways and tee boxes.
I don’t think it’s a good choice gives conditions and pace of play.
Pace of play was an issue all round. We waited on every tee box and every second and third shot. Nearly a 5 hour round on a course that isn’t very difficult.

Located 10 minutes from SkyHarbor airport. Played on 7/27/21. Driving range is huge. Short game practice area is very spacious. Large putting green. There is a practice bunker available (a rarity these days as many courses have eliminated them). Golf course is in immaculate condition. Fairways lush, greens roll true. Such a pleasure to play, especially considering the summer temps in Phoenix. The course offers choice of 4 tees and provides opportunities to score well. Highly recommend!

Overview: The Legacy Golf Resort is located on a 280 acre parcel of land that was originally purchased by Dwight B Heard. Mr Heard originally purchased this area when he bought 6,070 acres of land in South Phoenix back in 1901. Gary Panks designed the course in 1999 and as well has developed the Raven - Phoenix, Grayhawk Golf Club and Trilogy at Vistancia. The LPGA hosted the 2000 Ping Register Tournament at the Legacy Golf Resort.

Clubhouse/Pro-Shop: As you turn off of 32nd Street into the resort you see the par 3 17th hole on your right and side and past that as you drive straight into the resort you see the large clubhouse in the distance. The clubhouse/pro shop and grill are all located in one building and while a very nice structure, it's starting to get a little dated. Not much has changed since the opening in 1999 and the building is ready for a little bit of a re-model.

Practice Area: A nice practice area that allows you to aim your warm up shots straight up towards South Mountain ... a beautiful view of South Mountain as the sun starts to reflect off the mountain in the early am. The practice area has nice grass coverage and the putting and chipping areas are nicely taken care of and maintained.

Course: The Legacy Golf Resort is a links style course with deep fairway and green side bunkers. Most of the greens are raised and they do have an area where you can run the ball up, but these areas are not very large. The course is right there in front of you, but the biggest defense for the course is the greens and if the wind blows.
You have to take into account the slope of South Mountain on those holes that play North and South to the mountain and it also to a certain extent those holes that play parallel to South Mountain. The course was in decent summer condition, but was wet in spots. The tee boxes were in good shape, the fairways were getting some brown patches and the areas around the greens were getting thin. The bermuda grass on the greens was consistent, smooth and rolled about a 9.5.

Final Thoughts: While not at the same level as Troon North, Grayhawk, We-Ko-Pa and other high end courses in Phoenix. Legacy Golf Resort is good course to start/finish your golf trip in the Valley of the Sun ... what is important to note is that the course is about 15 minutes from the airport. Golf rates are fair and they do have some good prices ... even in the high season.

Played an early summer round for a great rate. Course conditions were good to really good. Greens were very good, fairways were good with some spots that were bare or burnt. Bunkers had some standing water and unplayable areas. They had watered heavily to keep up with the heat so some spots were moist. Play was average to good. Should have been better for early morning and played in 4 hours, waited on a number of holes. Practice facility was really good and greens and chipping areas are a plus for this course. Overall condition of the course for time of year was very good and staff was friendly and helpful.

Played this course in late December 2017. Chose to play here due to the proximity to the airport-- 6 miles.

-Course was in great shape; smooth greens, overseeded fairways, no bare spots
-Pace of play was excellent, on course staff did a nice job of keeping everyone moving

Negatives--
-Not many memorable holes.

Overall, this is a course I'd keep in my rotation when I visit Phoenix. Cost of green fee was $99. The course feels like a $70-80 course, but overall, still had a good time.

I played the Legacy on the last day of 2016. Great course to end the year on. The greens were awesome! The fairways and tee boxes were great . Some of the bunkers were a little thin on sand . We saw the beverage cart five or six times and there's a great little grill at the turn . This course is pretty challenging and has a number of great holes. They have a nice range, putting green and chipping area which is included in the price of the green fee .

Course has already aerated the greens using a sand injection method. (something new?) I didn't learn that until after my round. The greens were nice. I had no idea the yearly maintenance was complete. No holes...big or small, no sand. Just nice.
Fairways still in great shape. Tee boxes level and nice. Not to mention the superior warm up and practice facilities......beats work every time

Was out in AZ for Spring Training over the weekend and was able to get a round in on Saturday for $95 resort guest rate @ 9:20am as some friends were staying there. From a conditions standpoint the only thing I could possibly have an issue with were the bunkers which were thin and many had rocks in them. Tees, fairways, rough, and greens were all in prime peak season shape. Greens were firm and medium fast and rolling true. POP was 5 hours as the course was packed with fellow tourists and not much the marshalls could do even though they tried. Cart girls were around several times and there are now GPS installed on the carts which was helpful. It's a typical resort course with wide fairways, short rough, and water is seen on a couple holes on the back 9 but never really come into play. My main gripe echos the previous review in that the course layout is just sooooo boring! The only real challenge are the many bunkers lining the fairways and greens and many of them are quite deep. But man it felt like we were playing the same hole 18 times with the only variance being the length of the holes. Seems like there was zero thought or imagination put into the design of the course. I would much rather spend more to play a better layout next time.

Played 6/10/13. Course was decent, but not close to as interesting as it's neighbor Raven across the street. This is a resort/timeshare place so was expecting a vacation golf type experience. Nooooo. I did experience vacation golf costs for the Gatorade ($4-), waters, etc. what bothers me about this, aside from none of the 250 courses I've golfed charging $4 for a Gatorade, is that there are NO COOLERS on the carts. I don't remember ANY course in AZ that doesn't have coolers. Sparse water on the course and didn't see the cart girls enough, even though I do have to say the front 9 cart girl, girl cooking hot dogs at the turn and the back 9 cart girl were absolutely on fire hot! Maybe they had water every three holes as most courses do. I don't specifically remember. I just remember being completely overheated, dehydrated and drinking warm water because I couldn't keep any drinks cold because of the lack of coolers. Sadly, we were just dying of thirst most of the round as we burned through the drinks and a hole later had none. There's no GPS on the carts either, strange to me for the resort golf ambiance that they promote. Back up on back 9 was terrible. Also, couldn't find starter, kinda didn't know where to go to start.
All said, it's not an awful track. Cool old silos from the early 1900s on 18. I would just go across the street for a much better course and service. This was the last course on our trip and definitely was not on par with the other five courses we had played.
