Played on 7-27-11 Went out on my own around 10:45 ran into a twosome that let me thru on 10 zipped thru the round in a little over 2 1/2 hours. No cart girl but plenty of water on the course. Course was in good shape tee boxes were fine and fairways were better than I expected. You get a lot of roll out there while still hitting off of good grass. Didn't hit any bunkers so no review there, greens were a bit choppy no dead spots but, looks like there keeping them kind of long to help keep them green. Not a whole lot to think about while your shooting your way thru no real trouble or long carries but, fun none the less. Even though its in a housing development its so wide open you won't have any worries. It is in the town of Maricopa which means it competes with Southern dunes but, if your looking for something a little less challenging as well as still a good time I think one will like this course.

Our first time playing here. I enjoyed the course, fairways were very wide, rough was very good to hit out of. Lots of bunkers, seemed to be more on the back nine than the front. Greens are the courses defense, they are large and undulating. They were generally firm today, but would hold a shot. They ran fast and true and were in good shape. They can be difficult to read, however I think if you played here enough you could figure them out. Bunkers were a mixed bag, some were hard packed with pebbles in them, some had lots of sand in them. I'm guessing they had some more flooding issues with the recent rains but they have worked on the areas affected bringing it back into shape, those areas did not affect play. Large wash area runs throughout the course, and a lot of desert/natural area's will gather a badly errant shot. The rough is good to hit out of and will stop the ball going into the wash's and desert/natural areas. Customer service was very good. Lots of discounted tee times on various sites....rack is $109 at the moment, but with gold card guests are $59+tx gold card holders are $49+ tax. I'd play it again

Played Sunday 8/01/10...welcome to monsoon golf in Arizona...several cartpaths on the front nine were flooded out due to recent rains...thought Arizona's "Stupid Driver Law" might come into effect a couple of times. Otherwise course conditions were fine: tee boxes in good shape, fairways wide, green and full, some decent length rough before you hit the desert areas. Bunkers were obviously in poor to fair condition because of the monsoons, but the putting surfaces were awful! Dried out, dead, bumpy, near impossible to figure out. Very sad state of affaira, and a bit strange given the quality of the rest of the course. A few friends played here a couple weeks ago, and told me the same thing, so it's clearly an issue that needs addressing, and soon.

Played 11/21. Got a TW tee time (at) 1:40p for $15+ tax. Course wasn't too busy so the pro shop let us go 20 minutes early. The Duke is a 7011 yard Par 72. Rating 72.6. Slope 126. It's in good shape right now. The fairways are lush and very wide. The rough is dormant bermuda, which gives you a good lie most of the time. Beyond the rough is desert. You'll be able to find your ball. It's mostly open with just a few plants that can get your ball. Houses line the course, but they sit back far enough and shouldn't be a factor. Greens are large and have a fair amount of slope in them. They rolled smooth and were pretty quick. 10.5 - 11. Good practice facility. Definitely worth the 50 minute drive from Scottsdale to Maricopa to play.

Played April 26. Course in good shape. Greens, fairways and rough all good. Some of the traps needed to be fluffed. Better than average subdivision course. Not to far out of town for people in south Phoenix or se valley. Have played here several times. Friends have memberships, very reasonable. Have special now, $125 for next 5 months; play here, Ahwatukee and Ahwatukee Lakes for cart fee. I only play here when down for several days, too far otherwise.

Played Sunday 4/12, using an internet discount of $24 for greens fees, cart, small bucket of range balls AND a drink. Best deal in town, even if it is 20 miles out of town.

Played Sunday 4/12, using an internet discount of $24 for greens fees, cart, small bucket of range balls AND a drink. Best deal in town, even if it is 20 miles out of town.

Had a great time on the course. Tee boxes were in A-/B+ condition, fairways were in A/A- minus condition. Greens had a lot of unrepaired ball marks, and were extremely fast, though they did hold iron shots into them (I can't spin the ball, but I still hit my greens consistently).

The fairways have wide landing areas, so you don't need perfect tee shots. Desert carries were not overly difficult, but if you landed in a trap or in a desert area, you were screwed. Traps are very deep (often 6'-8' deep) and many had loose debris, making the shots even more challenging. The best part of the desert areas was that it kept the home from intruding into play; there wasn't the usual claustrophobia that comes from most courses designed around a home development.

This course was recently bought by the same people who run Ahwatukee CC and Ahwatukee Lakes; hopefully, they won't take this gem of a course and run it into the ground by overbooking and undercaring the course. As for now, I highly recommend The Duke.

Played May 16 and May 17, 2008. First day was slightly windy, about 25 m.p.h out of the east, not too bad for the desert. This course is in perfect shape right now. Greens have been verticut recently, but are smooth and fast. The four par fives are reachable with good shots from long hitters. The only real trouble comes in when you find the mesquite on mi sh$t s.
