Played Sunday early. Sunny and mild. Still seeking a area course that is a value for the green fee paid for a prime time weekend slot. This one at $70 not so much. Asked about the green conditions when I called for the tee time. All good I was told. Many areas on the edges brown and dirt. Putted ok at medium speed. Fairways are good, ball sitting up. Sand ok not recently maintained. Rough thick and lush. It was cut this week but was too long and brown rows wet grass hid many balls going there. Annoying to say the least. Oak trees that have fallen years ago the trunks still are left in the areas of play for the duffer. Other more recent trees still in progress of removal. Not polished but playable. Overall conditions marginal for this price level imo. Great pace of play and I love the design. Busy parking lot when we finished.

A round in between rain again with a golf now hot deal and 25% off was the hook that got me out birdie hunting on a saturated golf course with cool cloudy weather. Found one on the 9th with 6 iron stiff (aka Ron) for a gimme 3 inside the grip.
Morgan Creek rounds are bittersweet for me. The course is but a shell of what it once was. Some improvements to the pro shop / snack area over the years but not much else facility wise. The temporary tent now up over 12 plus years continues to produce revenue from events and some open property around entry and parking lot developed or trying to be divided into a home lots. Rumors of the back 9 closing for more houses is just that and can't, so won't happen for many years per the GM.
Course itself wet puddles in the low areas through the green and bunkers. Just mother nature. The overall maintenance of the course is marginal in most all areas. Appears to be a budget issue to me. Bare spots in the rough areas and tee boxes scrappy but playable. Conditions are playable but not equal to the rack green fee rates imo. Still love the track and the memories are always stirred playing golf here.
Greens good and the highlight. Many un-repaired ball marks to keep me busy as we were two following 4-somes.

Played 3/3 Sunday Pm in a dry spot in an otherwise wet weekend in NorCal. (4-6" of rain in 5 days) Rained on 14th green for 8 minutes. Sun came out on 16 otherwise cloudy 60 degrees. POP under 3 hours. Singles and a couple twosomes ahead and behind.

Cart path only casual water / ponding in the low areas. Muddy and sloppy, and some dry spots. Course in winter condition some dormant grass rough medium depth.

Greenskeeper MAINTENANCE ALERTS Accurate! Greens were 50% healed from late February aeration. That's the main purpose of this post to report that.

I was playing regardless as this course drains well being constructed in the early 2000's. And the great $ GolfNow Hot Deal. Pro shop said MCGC has new owners when I inquired. Facility looked great. customer service excellent.

Greens had been punched (3/5) rolling bumpy and slow as expected. Overall the fairways are fine the rough patchy in spots. Drains well, rolling decent. Tee boxes mostly level but not lush. Some being reseeded for spring.

Yesterday was our last day up north and we started at the crack of dawn (maybe a little earlier) at Morgan Creek, so we could finish in 2 hours and get to another mid-morning tee time across town. The price was $50, which is definitely too much for a weekday round here. However, the staff was super nice and willing to help us get out early and quickly despite having to play through a lot of maintenance workers.

The course conditions were disappointing and by far the weakest of any of the regulation courses I played on this trip. I just get the feeling that this place has gone downhill ever since they went fully public in recent years. The tee boxes were flat enough to get a tee in the ground, but the ground was firm and the grass was patchy at best on most blue tees. The fairways were patchy and inconsistent. Some muddy wet spots, some really firm hardpan, some shaggy, some thin. Looked pretty green from afar, but not so nice up close in most spots. The rough was more of the same, just the grass was longer. They did have really nice soft bunker sand, so that was a highlight. The greens were pretty good as well, other than the amount of grass clippings left on top from the mower. We played around the guys with blowers clearing them off, so we only got a few holes that weren't covered with clippings. Otherwise, the greens were receptive and rolling well at medium/fast speeds, and I am sure they were much nicer for later players once the wet grass clippings were cleared off.

The conditions were disappointing and the price was steep, which both marred what could have been a much more enjoyable round. I really, really liked the layout here at this formerly private club. Kyle Phillips drew some inspiration from Dye and the RTJs and then took advantage of a nice, moderately hilly creekside setting in Roseville with plenty of oak trees as you would expect in this area. Throughout the course, there is a lot of neat mounding and shelves/steps to create contour. I can only imagine how amazing this place looked in its heyday with nicer conditioning and cleaner lines. Hopefully they can restore that someday because the design deserves better. Still worth it if you find the right deal, but definitely not for the rack rate.

condition. Pace of play was also very good and we finished in less than 4 hours. The fairways were nice and the rough was not real bad. I really enjoy the challenge of this course and its
layout. The price was also very good.
