The course is in very good to excellent condition overall. Recent rains have perked this place back up to it's normal green lushness. Utilized an e-mail coupon they sent me to get a discounted $29 internet rate on their website and teed off a little after 3pm. Walked the blues (6522/71.9/132) in 5H, 15M and lost 2 balls on 18 trying to finish in darkness? There was a tournament ahead of us that was woefully slow, we waited on every tee and approach shot AD. To their credit, several different Langdon staffers tried numerous times to speed those guys up, but they were uncooperative. The pro shop came out and offered our entire group a "rain check" for another round, which I will take them up on. Their always excellent customer service just went to exceptional in my book with that gesture. The greens were smooth, firm and medium fast to fast. Very few ball marks. The tees and fairways were lush and had greened up with the recent rains. The 1st cut of rough was lush and not too penal. However, you have to avoid the native rough, which can be very punitive. The traps were in excellent shape, well maintained with medium color fluffy sand. They include a small bag of range balls with your green fee, which is a nice touch. The customer service in the pro shop & with the starter have been ++ every time I have played here. The on course beverage service came by at least twice, and they also have an excellent restaurant onsite. Langdon Farms is a different experience locally in that it doesn't utilize tall trees as a defense nearly as much as other courses in the Portland area. To play well here, you need to keep it in play, avoid some large bunkers and be able to chip and putt on fast, undulating greens. Numerous greens have collection areas that are mowed down on one or more sides that leaves the golfer with options of a putter to a lob wedge on many shots from off the green up and over mounds to slick greens often running away from you. Overall, a challenging, fun course. Other than the slowness, excellent day, I was having one of my better rounds here today, wish we could have finished.

Played in the afternoon on August 19, with Nickesquire1. Great course conditions throughout. Fast and firm greens, lush fairways and rough, and generally a well manicured course. We paid $33 to walk at 2:41 p.m., which included range balls. The practice range is nicely laid out with plenty of multi-colored targets and signs on the hitting stalls showing the yardages. A large practice putting green is conveniently located adjacent to the first tee. There are a few elevation changes throughout the course, but mostly it is relatively flat with some undulations and ridges separating several holes. Tall native grasses cover most everything outside the mowed rough. That, and forest or water await balls that do not find the maintained parts of the course. This course is in farm land and they play it up with the bright red buildings and weather vane motif everywhere. Hole 8 has a bright red barn that comes into play if your tee shot is down the left side. Great time with Nick and I would play this course again next time in the area.

Teed off @ 241pm on their standard internet twillight rate of $33 to walk with Kviser. We walked the blues (6522/71.9/132) in 4 hours, 40 minutes on a hot, sunny afternoon. The course is in very good to excellent condition overall. The greens were smooth, firm and medium fast to fast. The tees and fairways were generally lush with a few scattered brown areas. There was a tournament going on when we teed off, and there seemed to be an inordinate amount of fresh divots in many fairways. The 1st cut of rough was lush and not too penal. However, on many holes, you don't have to stray far to get into the native rough, which can be very punitive. The good news is that there are now areas that were very lush & deep a few months ago that have dried out that you can now play out of, or at least find your ball. The traps were in excellent shape, well maintained with mostly fluffy sand. This course doesn't utilize tall trees as a defense nearly as much as other local courses in the Portland area. So the style is certainty different from other area courses. The good is that at least 16 or 17 of the 18 holes are good to excellent golf holes. Now that I have seen this course several times, it's time to comment on the course design. I like to see if my opinion changes whenever I see a "different" type hole several times before I am overly critical. Seven holes on the back 9 are on the other side of the road which almost makes them a course within a course. Those holes are generally more wide open than the eleven holes on the other side. In spite of 11 holes on one side and 7 holes on the other side of a road, the overall course design could be great with 2 changes. 1- Add another par 5. I generally dislike courses that only have three par 5's, especially when two of them are among the hardest holes on the course. 2- #6 is an exception to the good or excellent designed holes on the rest of the course. It is a short par 3 with a severely elevated green that has collection areas all around the green. The slope of the green and especially the slope going down to the collection areas make this a hole that needs to be redesigned in my opinion. Difficult to hold the green even with a high sand wedge, if you land within 10-12' of the greens edge almost anywhere on the green, there is a 50-50 chance you will end up 30' to 40' off the green in a collection area. Once there, putting, chipping or trying to lob a shot up/over a 10' tall hill mowed down close to a green that is narrow, humpbacked and often running away from the golfer... the only thing missing is the clown's legs to try and putt through, this looks like a hole you would see on a miniature golf course once you get up around the green. The design mentality of taking a very short hole & trick up the green to make up for it's shortness = a poor golf hole. They have plenty of land behind the current green to lengthen #6 if they wanted to and put in a legitimate green. This hole just seems out of place design wise on this particular course. Don't get me wrong, this is one of the best public courses to play in the greater Portland area, and few courses have all 18 holes that I would consider to be very good to excellent golf holes. But this hole is just SO much worse than whatever the 2nd poorest hole on this course is, and it is not even close! To score here, you need to keep it in play and be able to chip and putt on fast, undulating greens. The overall beauty and country club feel of this property causes me to always look forward to playing here and it always delivers a great experience. This round was no exception as I played with NickEsquire1 at 3:36 at a twilight rate of $33. Even though the tees and fairways were not their usual perfection, they were close and the greens rolled smooth and medium fast and the sand was light and fluffy. Most of the expansive aprons abutting the greens are shaved very close allowing, indeed almost requiring, the use of the putter from extended distances which tests your ability to read the greens over longer distances. The staff is always friendly and the bar and restaurant fare is great.

Teed off @ 336pm on their standard internet twillight rate of $33 to walk with Longtee400. The course is in excellent condition overall, but not quite as good as when I played here last year. The greens were generally smooth, firm and fast, with a hint of a recent top dressing. They held well hit iron shots well. The traps were also in excellent shape, well maintained with fluffy sand. The tees and fairways, while still very good, were a step down from what I remember last summer. The 1st cut of rough was lush and not too penal. However, on many holes, you don't have to stray far to get to the native rough, and it is very penal. A lost ball or advance it a little with a wedge are your probable results in the deep stuff. Holes 9 & 18 share a double green that wraps 270 degrees around a large lake in the middle. My approach shot to #9 hit on the wall and bounced into no mans land between #18 pin and #9 pin, still on the double green. I paced it off as a 157' putt that had about 20' of left to right break over a ridge. I managed to 3 putt, one of the only times in 40 years of golfing that I have ever 3 putted and actually felt good about it. The only on course negative for me is only three par 5's, and two of them are among the hardest holes on the course. You need to keep it in play and be able to chip and putt on fast, undulating greens to survive & thrive here. Many greens have collection areas that are mowed down on one or more sides that leaves the golfer with lots of chips or putts from off the green up and over mounds to slick greens often running away from you. This is especially challenging if you roll into the deeper rough just on the other side of the collection areas. I managed to chip into a hazard on one hole and chip into a greenside bunker on another hole by having chips from relatively close to the hole in the deeper rough roll too much on the fast greens and roll through the green. And neither chip was seemingly that bad until it rolled, and kept rolling by the hole... Overall, a fun, challenging course, Customer Service in the pro shop & with the starter were a ++. No on course beverage service, but they do have an excellent restaurant onsite.

Played 18 late afternoon with NickEsquire1. The course was immaculate and pace of play was good at just over 4 hours. The entire course is so well maintained and beautifully planted with decorative flowers and bushes that it reminds me more of a private country club than a public course. There are no gimmicky holes and with 4 tee choices, it has plenty of challenge for all skill levels.

Great practice facilities, a welcoming staff, reasonable fees and an excellent restaurant/bar area with big screen tv's make this one of my top 3 courses in the Portland area.

They have a tiered afternoon green fee rate that gets progressively lower the later it is in the day, it was $34 @ 306p to walk. Played in 4H, 10M with Longtee400, the course was moderately busy. We were one of the last groups to finish 18 holes @ 715p.

I have rated over 200 courses on GK and only a couple of times have I EVER rated anything a 10... Well, if these fairways aren't a 10, I don't know what would qualify! The fairways were better than the greens I played on last week, very few divots, very lush, immaculately maintained!

The rough close to the fairway is generally mowed down, lush and well kept. The rough farther off the fairway is native like a links style course and is a chip out or a lose ball waiting to happen. The tee boxes were lush, the par 3's had some divot damage, but good to excellent overall. The traps were VERY well maintained with nice, fluffy sand.

The greens had a lite top dressing that did not affect putting. They were firm and medium fast. They may have been recently rolled, it was amazing how few ball marks there were. Only negative was that because the greens were so firm, they did not hold approach shots well and even high approach shots barely left a ball mark.

Customer service was a ++, and they have a very nice restaurant onsite. Great experience overall!

First time here, beautiful course. Was an added bonus that I got to witness longtee400's first career hole in one, a beautiful 4I hybrid on #3.

The condition of everything was immaculate. Nearly every hole has multi colored flower arrangements in strategic locations around the tee box, green or both. The greens were medium fast, SMOOTH, firm and very consistent from green to green. Hardly a ball mark anywhere. The tees were lush and even the par 3's didn't have severe divot damage. The fairways & rough were both lush. The sand traps were in excellent condition, hardly any unraked areas and the sand was thick & soft.

The layout was a +, not overly tight but plenty of trouble if you got a little crooked on most holes. Knee deep rough that they let grow natural was lurking right off the primary cut of rough. No tricked up holes, few blind or around dogleg shots. #9 & #18 share a green that is so large that many players could probably hit a full wedge from one end to the other.

This course isn't cheap, but it delivers high quality conditions like you may expect @ most country clubs for the higher green fees, a fair exchange. Easily one of the best conditioned public courses I have ever played. I will definitely be back.

This is one is my favorite courses in the Portland area but even more so after today as I got my first ever HOLE IN ONE on #3, a 173 yd par 3 from the blues witnessed by Nickesquire1.

9:50 tee time and played in 4 1/2 hrs for $44 WR Farm Card Holder rate. The course is in great condition and shows pride in every phase of the operation.

In many respects this feels like a links type course. Closely cut puttable areas are around most greens. Many fairways have raised borders allowing shots to funnel back to the flat parts. The 2nd cut of rough is long and wild and is the major defense of this course. Although most holes are straight, well placed bunkers and a few water hazards make this is a very interesting and challenging track.
