The greens were sanded this morning. Residual remains on all greens for a few days affecting the roll and speed. Other than that the greens in good shape, soft and mostly green with a few dry brown patches witnessed.
Tees, mentioned below, do need attention. Fairways cut short and running fast. Rough around an inch with no effect on hitting the ball. Sand was inconsistent; some dry/fluffy and some bunkers too wet or dried out. Everything is nicely manicured and presents well with the layout being quite the challenge. Saw the marshal 5 times and drinks cart 4 times as our pace was 4+45 from 06:45. Could be that groups ahead not playing proper tees for the layout making the pace a little draggy. ezlinks.com currently has some deals as does Marriott itself to promote the property. Great prac-fac and clubhouse; all staff encountered was friendly and helpful. Recommended and worth a return.

I mean, Really!! Only$20 for summer time desert golf; why not?
Great deal on a well presented course for a cruising layout and easy times golf. Played Cielo/Vista.
Thanks to Shazza and Nickesquire1 for the fine company during an engaging challenge with fine manicuring from tees to greens. Which, by the way, were very smooth, kind of quick holding and putting well. Fairways fine (firm/fast) rough of varying lengths (ouch), most sand is ok to good.
Good staff, no drinks cart/marshal but both the golfers we saw all day looked to be enjoying the experience. Get an early morning launch in the cool air - go play.

Overall good conditions, scattered bare patches in fairways, and as brucelai described below, slow greens, bumpy at times but holding well.
Summertime desert golf; that simply is the way it goes. Had the pleasure of teeing it up with fellow GKers Shazza, Nickesquire1, and RGM2525, thanks folks.
Nice service, staff, and plenty of drinks cart passes. Layout is resort style with lots of room and sensible rough length to keep pace at around 4 hours. Good maintenance evident throughout with nice manicuring tees to greens. Our 'Hot Deal' $25 for 10:28 tee. Good facility and be aware no practice range, but chipping and putting greens only. Check the wind forecast prior to leaving.

Very good conditions, with a great layout and good facilities and service always are delivered here at Morongo. Either course will give you what you need for a challenge; choose your tees or make up your own ‘combo’. Fun.
We turned from Legends and went straight on to Champs at 12:55 and kept a good pace finishing at 4:30. Everything is lush and green, with lots of watering conducted at all parts of the course. Maybe a touch too much water??? As there are many soft areas and some casual water, including bunkers. Most Tees fine and well used, fairways and rough (2”) good with some bare areas too. Fairway bunkers mostly gravel; green side bunkers very good sand. Approaches, collars and greens all manicured nicely and very lush. Greens smooth and quick, but soft and holding well. Loved the greens complexes designs. Good drinks cart attendance, lots of water stations, good marshaling. Just a solid test of golf.

Both of us teed off at 0820 between fours, and kept a good pace finishing 1245. Everything is lush and green, with lots of watering targeted at fairways and rough. Maybe a touch too much water??? As there are many soft areas and some casual water – maybe a morning thing only? Black, Blue & Red Tees fine, fairways and rough (2”) good with some bare areas too. Fairway bunkers mostly gravel; green side bunkers very good sand. Approaches, collars and greens all manicured nicely and very lush. Greens smooth but a bit slow, but soft and holding well. Loved the design. Good drinks cart attendance, lots of water stations, good marshaling. Be aware Legends does NOT turn at the clubhouse. Definitely worth a look.

Good venue, world class service and facilities.
Solid layout presenting well; maintained and manicured.
Lots of tee boxes, but rather small and well used, but not affecting any tee shots. The fairways are transitioning to bermuda, so the rye is dying off appearing brown and allowing some crustiness in many places so fairly fast on the run-out. The rough is healthy, around an inch or so, and lots of extremely high grasses well off the fairways. All sand is good. Greens are firm, sometimes soft, but true and smooth; very nice. Approaches and collars surrounding the greens are lush and expertly manicured and dry. Loved the layout with our 2 ball with an easy 3+30 pace from 10:00. Many drinks cart passes, and ample water stations enroute. Could not pass up the ezlinks deal $17.
The Mountain course was visibly being cored from today, and is unplayable for at least a week - June 24 maybe. Very nice resort.

Certainly a treat to get in a round prior the aeration starting next week. Slow day, so none of those cart girls Jerry discussed below. Teed off early alone at 1130 after the friendly staff suggested I get ahead of a couple of four balls. Finished up at 1420, on a super easy pace, with only 105* temp.
Excellent presentation. Excellent fairways, rough, sand and superb greens. Tees well used but acceptable. I forgot how HUGE!!! all the bunkers are. Love the layout and the challenge and, like Jerry, can't wait to return. Hot Deal $20.

Always a treat to return to the service at Marriott. Four of us 0730 took 4+45, as we let through two groups on the front. Nice facilities, good staff, and attentive cart girls. Nice resort layout in lush condition with fast fairways, dry 1.5" rough, firm and quick greens and well manicured start to finish, loved the bunker sand; very pleasing. Sufficient challenge from any tee and a good deal with deal caddy $35. I'll be back.

Great greens begin aeration tomorrow. The rest of the course is lush, fairways quick, sand and rough very good. A quick shake out exec course for most of you clubs (sans Driver) supported by friendly staff and less than 3 hours. These days a Hot Deal golfnow can get you on for under $10 morning tee time. Quite an easy decision.

Good track and facilities with friendly support staff greets you here at Westin. Lush conditions, fast fairways and sensible rough, good sand throughout, and nice challenge from all tees make it a good course for a cruising day of golf. Greens were left a bit long, were smooth, but just a bit slow. Held well.
Two of us teed off at 2:30, May 28, and finished by 5:30. Even a drinks cart came around lots of times on a slow day (less than 40 rounds). I like Pete Dye, and am never disappointed when playing here. Many deals around right now. Go play.

Amazing how the course can be in better shape since last we played. Tuesday, May 28 0630 four of us teed off for 3+50 round hosted by superb playing conditions on a fun layout with enough challenge for everyone.
Lush, green, manicured expertly and perfect greens, as we were the first out; luxury. Stimping 11 (?), firmish yet holding alright, the greens were smooth and true. Beautiful fairways, lush rough around 1.5 inches, and nice sand all around. Good drinks cart attendance ALL day, as we looped twice, it was sooooo nice. Great prac-fac, staff, and solid golf made the day.

Good Ole Jack. What a character. What a course.
Second round today, after playing Pete Dye, on our underpar voucher from 1100.
Easy pace, quiet day (3+50) just the two of us.
Every bit as well manicured and presented as Stadium, with the fairways a little drier and running longer. Greens just as firm and quick, smooth and no marks seen. All else was terrific. Engaging layout with strategy required for successful navigation; and bring your short game. Very impressive and worth a look/ worth a return.
BTW the pro-shop has proudly displayed the GK Award 2012 for Best Conditions.
