Took a day off work and walked on the Destroyer Thursday morning, $45 non-military walking rate. PoP a tick under 4 hrs. teeing off at 6:35am as we followed a four-some that had no business playing that early. Marshall should have been on them much sooner. Good thing was that I was paired with ex-navy guys who were a hoot ... one a WWII vet which was super-cool. Another was the biggest ball hawk I've ever seen who, I found out, donates the balls to the local schools. Course conditions were, as usual, decent fairways and rough, large/semi-tiered greens were aerated a couple weeks ago and just a tad slower than normal ... give 'em one more week. Bunkers great sand but damp and heavy early. Always enjoy rounds here. Not super tough unless your tee shots are in the trees. Re. RDD's comment about length: maybe the blue tees were moved up that day, Bob. If you play from the perms you'll find this course has teeth, especially if you stray off line or if the pins are back.

First time on the Navy course. Some friends play here and have praised it so thought I would give it a try. Got out there early as a single and glad I did as I was just able to get on before the Lady's Club teed off about 7:45. Great rate at $30 walking and decent pace of play at about 4:20. Played with three retired military men (two former naval pilots) who were great to play with.

I liked the course. Enough variety to keep it interesting. Some tiered greens, plenty of sand and more water features than I expected (although a couple have been retired to waste areas without water). The fairways and rough had good cover. There were some tight lies near the greens but nothing unusual. The rough was fairly low cut and not overly penal. The sand was fine. I really liked the greens. Medium speed and appeared to roll true. Very fair.

Overall, I should have played here before. Good experience all around. One note. The distance from the Blue tees that I played is listed at over 6700 yards. I was hitting the driver well but either the ball rolls really well there or it is shorter than the listed distance. In my opinion.

Played 3/13. Simple little track with a good price point. Greens are in BAD shape and desperately need to be rolled.

Played Wednesday, 2/20, at 9:45 and finished in 4:40. The greens were in good condition rolling with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways were in better shape than I anticipated due the amount of rain during the last couple weeks. Mostly good winter conditions with some thin/bare/soft areas. The rough is much like the fairways some soft spots but no standing water. The bunkers are a bit compacted due to the large amount of rain but playable.
The tee boxes were fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness. Enjoyable track to play and the staff is friendly.

Teed off Wednesday morning about 10am finishing in 5 hours. The greens were good rolling with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways were in mostly good winter condition with a few small thinner/bare spots. The rough around the greens was good. The rough along the fairways was decent with some areas being thicker than others. The bunkers were fair to good. The green side bunker right of 10 was very compacted and thin of sand. A couple other bunkers my playing partners were in seemed good. The tee boxes were fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness.

Always an enjoyable track to play. The staff is friendly.

Teed off Wednesday morning about 9:30 and finished in 4:35. The greens were in good condition with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways have good winter coverage with a few small thin/bare spots and few small areas marked with ropes due to the heavy rain a few days ago (ground still a bit soft). The rough around the greens is in good condition. The rough along the fairways is mostly good with a few thin/bare spots and winter low (so not to penal). The bunkers were in good shape other than the footprints left in all three bunkers I was in. I guess they felt the rack would bite them if they touched it. The tee boxes were fair to good primarily due to mild unlevelness.

I read a sign providing notice that civilian walking rates went up $1 starting Jan. 1, 2019.

Frost delay on the Destroyer Friday, 12/29, but the starter was doing a great job getting our two-ball out on time with some shuffling, really appreciated that. PoP around 4.5 hrs. Course conditions are usually very consistent which is why I play here semi-often, plus was able to get a good deal online, $36 walking. Customer service always very good. Recent review by NutNButCup still holds true. Challenging layout from the Blues which were back today with enough wind to keep you focused. Greens mostly semi-quick with some bumps to contend with, nothing worth worrying about. Fairways could use a mow but had good lies all day. Bunkers maintained, good sand some thin areas. All in all, a good day on the Destroyer. Recommended.

Destroyer has an enjoyable varied layout that is easy to walk. The staff is friendly.

The greens rolled mostly smooth with medium/fast pace and held shots. The fairways were mostly good with some thin spots. The rough was good around the greens and mostly good along the fairways with a few thin/bare spots. The bunkers were mostly good. I was in 3 greenside bunkers of which two were good and one the sand was thin and a bit compacted. The tee boxes were fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness and a few were a bit chewed up where the the tee markers had been placed. Overall the conditions were pretty good. The staff was friendly.
