It's a straight forward course in a nice area and is not difficult. The downside is that the golf shop is rather arrogant and they are expensive for the area. When they opened they were a premier course but a couple of years ago they let it go and now there are bad conditions everywhere. Patches of rock hard dirt in front of some of the greens and on fairways that seem to never go away. So don't expect what you pay for.

Played today for $78 w/JC "Discount". Greens excellent; fairways decent; outer areas unwatered due to "cost reductions" (recycled water in use). Marshalls are worthless and drive around while you play. These boys couldn't keep pace of play with the wind at their back and their free golf depended on it (they also get paid). Proshop help is the BEST!

Suggest cutting out marshalls who just use fuel to drive around and use the savings to water the course. Beer and drinks are higher than Four Seasons. Good muni track other than what is an "easy" fix for "Easy Ranch"!

Encintas Ranch is a great track in summer for the ocean views and breeze. Forgiving layout ("Easy Ranch") as you really have to work to hit OB. People are great who work there other than the marshalls who drive around w/out a clue. Course is in great shape; however, they claim they're saving water by not watering the rough, practice range and other areas. That's funny, I'm still flushing my toilet and the scorecard claims Encinitas Ranch proudly uses reclaimed water! No, JC Resorts is just plain cheap...

Played Tuesday the 2nd. Went out solo at 1:30. Two holes behind another single and three behind a twosome. Tee boxes and fairways are in great condition after the rains. Half the greens were just punched and sanded. I actually liked it because I had to really think about my approach shots which helped me shoot low. After the rain this weekend it should be in great condition. Finished in 3 hrs!! Caught the single who joined the twosome at the 12th. Otherwise woulda been sub 3hr round.

Played today with a decent foursome, we're all just fine at ready golf and know how to keep a good pace - which we did. Marshalls were all over us... go figure...

Played last Thurs. and was greatly disappointed. Started at 12:45 and finished almost SIX hours later! A 6hr round on a Thursday with no marshal in sight, completely unacceptable. I haven't played here in over a year and now I remember why. Was thinking of joining the JC Club since I live so close, but they just lost that sale, way too expensive even at those rates.
I'll stick to Torrey and Arrowood

The layout of this course is excellent. While the course provides plenty of challenge around the greens and with topography the fairways provide plenty of room off the tee making this course enjoyable for all skill levels. I was disappointed with the conditions. First the good. The tees and bunkers are good. The fairways are nice. The rough had a few areas with bare spots. Small dead spots peppered areas of the greens. If the pin position was in the area of the spots it affected putting. Other than the dead spots the greens were a little bumpy and extremely slow. Based on past reviews a assume this is a temporary problem. When the greens are in better shape this course will be a solid 7-8 rating. The customer service was great and the pace of play was 4:20 teeing off at 10:30 on a Friday (wonderful). I WOULD DEFINITELY PLAY HERE AGAIN.

Course was in overall great condition. There were some ground under repair spots on some fairways, but the fairways were in great condition. Greens were also in great shape and rolling well. Tee boxes were in great shape. We played at 9:30a and finished in a little over 4 1/2 hours. Great views of the ocean and surrounding communities. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Wide open course that offers many high handicappers the opportunity to par quite a few holes. Birdie opportunities if you have putting somewhat under control.

Wide open course that offers many high handicappers the opportunity to par quite a few holes. Birdie opportunities if you have putting somewhat under control.
The course is in great shape, with a few spots here-and-there. Tee boxes are well maintained, as are the fairways. The greens suffer from ball marks, but not game altering.
Definitely worth the price during the week. Pace of play was excellent, although I hear during the weekend it can slow down to a craw. Will play again.
