Took the trip down to Enci Ranch to meet some buddies for a Saturday Skins match. Never played this track before but was looking forward to it. I don't mind paying $100 for a round of golf every once and awhile but paying $100 for this track is a complete joke. If I were the head greens keeper here I would be ashamed! The whole course was in awful condition. From the overgrown tee boxes to the dead fairways this whole track was just hard on the eyes! The greens were somewhat decent and the ocean views were nice. The rest of the foursome all had the same opinions of this place but there always is one bright spot on every course and that is the 19th hole. Nothing really special about this place either. Service was great but (2) $17 pitchers of brew made me double think why I would spend $117 at this awful golf course!

This course is a beautiful layout. It has ocean views from the front nine and canyon views from the back nine. Not real challenging from the whites, but okay from the green. Some tee shots from the blues are for long hitters. The fairways and greens are usually in great shape, unless overseeding and usual upkeep. Can be on the pricey side in prime time, but can get better prices for twilight. The whole staff has always been helpful and friendly. I play there as often as I can.

Played here for the first time yesterday 10/16, and I guess I was expecting alot more.
The rate was heavily discounted from the going weekend rate of $103, so i was expecting something to be up, but I was disappointed beyond that by the condition of the course.
The fairways were closed to carts for some much needed overseeding, the tee boxes looked like they had been recently seeded because they hadn't been mowed in awhile, the grass on some was taller than the rough. The whole course had been over watered, and was quite mushy in some of the rough just outside the fairways. All of the bunkers were muddy and hard packed.
The greens and the surrounding fringe were in pretty good shape, the only real plus out of the conditions.
The carts do not have GPS which was a surprise considering the green fees, and the call box for ordering food on 9 was out of order.
I'll agree with another reviewer that I've never seen so many marshals on one course, and they weren't very friendly either.
Overall it was pretty challenging, with some nice holes and scenic views, but like other JC courses in the area, overpriced for the quality.
I can't see going back anytime soon, even at a steep discount.

Played the Ranch today and had a great time. This course is very fun and open and has some great views. The Greens were great today, but they are punching them next week, so hurry and play. Rough was deep in a few places and the bunkers were hard packed but had sand in them. Saw the cart gal 3 times and the pace was great.

Played Saturday 9/10 10 AM tee-time - Our men's club monthly tournament, got a great price of $69. The facilities in general are excellent. The restaurant/bar serves good food quickly, great service, and friendly staff. The tee boxes were in good shape, a few divots here and there, the fairways were lush with an occasional bald/thin spot but rolled well. The rough was not punishing but at times difficult to get out, the greens were lush, med/fast due to wetness from dew and slight showers earlier in the morning, majority of the ball marks had been fixed, with on or two that were not, the bunkers were partial sand and dirt and some were real firm. Marshals were friendly and courteous, came around often to keep up the pace, and offer water and occasional advice and tips. Beverage cart came around 3-4 times during our round. All in all a great golf outing.

Played 8/25. 110pm tee-time on Wednesday - price was $76.00 - a bit steep IMHO.

The money must pay for the marshalls - they were everywhere!!
The facilities in general are excellent. The restaurant/bar serves good food quickly and you can sit on the terrace overlooking the first tee. Buy a soft drink before you start, get a free refill to top up and get another refill for $1.00 at the turn. A few too many bald spots on the fairways and a plethora of ball marks on the greens, so I give a 7 rather than 8. Pace of play was good and the temperature 20' cooler than my home town!

Played Encinitas Ranch today for the first time in awhile and really enjoyed the course. Fairways and greens are in great shape. Altho the greens were quite slow. Many bare spots in the rough. Great customer service especially from the marshal who had fresh water and sand bottles every time he went by.

Got out at E-Ranch on a warm Friday morning, on time (8:32am) and played in just under 4 hrs. Okay, the layout is nice: generous fairways, large greens w/medium speed - not difficult to read, some water, ocean views, yada-yada-yada. But man, lots of bare spots in fairways and rough, some marked GUR and some not, really makes for some lousy lies. Otherwise, bunkers were raked and nice, tee boxes weren't mown but in good condition. The course plays fairly short from the blues so the opportunity to go low exists. Just not very appealing to the eye is all. Sure, I'd play it again ... my buddie had the JC card which saved a few bucks. Oh, the meatloaf sandwich at the restaurant afterward is highly recommended.

No wonder JC Golf keeps losing managements. Dumb marshalls follow you all over and rush you constantly. Front nine we waited every tee. Back nine we were hassled when the front group got away from us a half hole. The place is way over rated in condition and costs waaaaaaay to much.
