Played today, 9-28-15. This is one of my favorite executive courses. It was in very good shape today. The fairways were very pretty, only a couple of brown spots. The greens were a bit slow but consistent so it didn't affect my putting too much. It was obvious that the white tees are the most played as the ground was pretty chewed up on a few of the them. We wanted to also play the Oaks, the little 18 hole par 3 course, but it's closed for another week or so. We enjoyed lunch at the Canyon Grille and did a bit of shopping at the outdoor fair and of course had to check out the sale racks at the pro shop. A very nice day!

Last of my short course tour today was Welk. I played the pitch and putt Oaks course last year, but this was my first time on the much better Fountains. Another GN hot deal for $19, which included a cart. I joined up with another single after a few holes and there were plenty of folks out there. A lot of waiting around, so it took around 3.5 hours to finish. The course was in very good overall shape. Very green and pretty looking. Some fairway spots and the collars were a bit too shaggy, but mostly it played as well as it looked. Tee boxes in good shape. I was in a couple bunkers and they were pretty good. The greens were solid. A couple seemed a little rough and all were somewhat bumpy late in the day, but more good than bad. This is another fun executive course with just a handful of short par-4s on each side and a good mix of par-3s. The tiny greens are definitely tough to hit. Very nice setting and scenery winding through the resort and along the rocky hillside. It's a great looking little course. Just a fun, relaxed kind of course perfectly suited for resort guests and people looking for a more casual round.

Ok so I have a family member that loves to play here... fine. After my last experience I was like really? Can we go elsewhere? (refer to previous review). Surprisingly it was an entire different experience. The lushness, color of the grass in the fairways and greens were in great shape. Maybe they had an irrigation issue when I went last but i have to say for a shorter course i have to recommend this course now. It is short but fun and can assist one in their confidence as I don't think its extremely challenging. Greens are predictable and easier to read with a slow to medium pace. If your in the area go take a few swings.

Wow maybe it is because I am from Northern California and used to green courses with lower overall rates. Growing up above the mountain at Meadow Lake in Hidden Meadows I expected top notch golf. This course was way overpriced for what your get. My main complaint were the yellow/brown fairways. Another were the tee boxes were all moved to the ladies red tees. I cam to play a longer course not a Par 3. Let's be clear there were NO Par 4's going on here. This is Lawrence Welks!! What kind of standard are we putting out there. Purely living off the name but to be a nice resort with such a crappy turf? Rumor is the water rates are ubsurd right now.... well to bad,figure it out. Sent in a complaint a couple days ago. No response which tells me they dont care. Wont be going back

Played at 1208 on 6/1, Saturday, with family staying at the Condos. We had a 2fer coupon book so got on after 12 paying 2 for $50. Staff were welcoming and gave us friendly grief as we haven't played here in awhile and used to play at least 2 times (or more) a month since it's so close and a fairly quick round. Greens were a bit inconsistent this go round though. Some bumpy/some slow/fast/and sandy. Fairways and tee boxes were in decent condition. I ended up driving over the green on the Par 3, 15th hole, ending up in the back bunker :( rough behind had been over watered and bunker flooded/soaked; so I was hitting out of what seemed like a mudhole :( This course gets its share of use by the locals and those staying at the resort. The resort does a pretty good job keeping the course maintained. Cart girl was friendly as always. Course tends to get backed up at the turn. There is a chipping area located behind the Pro shop; a 2 person hitting net area, and 2 practice greens. Overall we enjoy playing this course when we need a quick golf fix. The Welks short course "Oaks" is great for practicing your short game; but the few holes that run adjacent to the road are horribly placed under power lines and a telephone pole on one; not to mention careful consideration needs to be exercised not to hit into passing vehicles. We enjoy the Welks and will continue to go back. The coupon book is the way to go. We are of the mindset that if I'm going to pay anything over $35, may as well play a full size 72par course. Highly recommend calling to double check conditions of the greens though. Enjoy.

Played wed 6:30 as a twosome, $32 with cart; played in under 3 hours; a nice little executive course with 8 par 4's, interesting layout, runs through the welk resort; course in decent shape. the greens were VERY inconsistent, from fully sanded to 10 on the stimp, and there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to it... the big downside to this course is that it seemed to be built with no regard for public safety... the major thoroughfare into the resort is in prime slice territory of a hole, and a nice solid skull would go straight into the street on several holes, and plenty of holes had condos right on top of the fairway... basically played because I was staying at the resort, and I played with my kid; if you are staying in Escondido or local, and need a quick round or a family round, this is the place for you. (they do have a 18 hole par 3, which I didn't get around to)

not a bad track for a short course. there are some areas on the fairways that need work...the tee boxes were pretty beat up...the greens were very nice and traps were good too.

Great Day until the wind kicked up a bit. Was sent out after a group of SIX; but they were very nice and let us by on Hole 3. Greens were verrrrry nice. Ran true; medium fast to slow at times. Tee boxes just coming off of overseeding so are kinda scruffy, and divotted. Customer service on this course is always very nice. Main reason we keep going back; besides having a coupon book and it's easy to get on and get a quick tuning round in. Worth the green fees. A Great real deal Exec course. :) We'll keep going back for more :)

Played today 11/1/12, with RStang06(hubby). Arrived and hit the tee without any warm-ups at all. (Starter urged us to go ahead of 2 4-somes since there was just the 2 of us (made for a nice quick paced round) :)
One practice putting green was closed; the other was being used for a golf clinic. Red tee boxes seemed much more thrashed than the others. Fairways were in nice shape/Rough was typical kakoolia grass. Bunkers were better than most courses we've played lately...adequate for easy out; some a little thin/packed, but again, most were more than adequate. Greens were wonderful, with little to no ball mark damage (we did fix more than ours on several; but overall most were taken care of). Only downside was due to foot traffic marks on some. Ball would run nice/true until within a foot of the cup. No Marshal/Cart Girl zipped by us once - at least the Snack bar at the turn was open. Pro Shop Staff are always so very nice. This is our regular course for practicing our short game. Has all the nicer amenities of big scale courses (ball washers/receptacles/turn facilities). A legit Exec course we truly enjoy again and again. :) Note: Facilities do have a Chipping area behind the Pro Shop; 2 putting greens; and 2 nets to hit into off of mats for warm-ups.
