First of all I found out that between Christmas and the end of the year the whole time is considered weekend rates. So I paid a weekend rate yesterday for a Thursday, kind of disappointed in that. Course was crowded for a Thursday too. Took over 5 hours to play today. We teed off at 11:30 and finish as the sun was setting. As far as the course goes I agree with the last reviewers comments but I think it has gotten a little better. Some of the greens were flat out bad and #4 comes to mind. Not sure if this is a fungus problem or what but that green was absolutely terrible. I think the fairways are a little better since the prior review. You could definitely see where some of the areas were still growing in. I was actually surprised at how brown and yellow the course was. Playing Arrowwood the other week which isn't too far from here seemed much more lush and greener, just visually more appealing. So I don't think it was from a lack of rain. There were areas roped off in the fairways because I guess there is some difficulty in getting the grass to grow. I'm finding the more I play it the more the layout doesn't bother me. It definitely takes some experience in knowing the course. I just think right now there is better values out there.

Played yesterday Nov 7th, third time for me. Great course, a strategic challenge.A must play on the San Diego Area. Yesterday was cart path only and pace has been very low (over 5hrs) otherwise usually is around 4 hrs.
Great staff, beautiful clubhouse, cart equipped with gps and 5 stars practice facility.

Crossing had an early twilight special starting at noon today so our 4some teed off at 12:09 and finished in 4 1/4 hrs. Had early lunch at the Canyons restaurant which had great view and good service. First time here and we thought the front played much easier than the back nine. I especially liked the layout of the 16th with the hole tucked in the left corner out of view. They also placed the 17th pin about 5 yds from the right edge (cliff) so naturally we lost balls trying to hit the pin. All in all, the condition of tees, fairways were good to excellent. Greens had some ball marks but seems the greens are so hard that it's not easy to fix some of the marks. Speed was about medium fast so not a problem. Since the greens are so big (or long), it was a good thing the cart gps had distance to the pin. Otherwise, it would've been a long day. Power lines or the planes did not distract our group much. A course with nice view, great layout and nice playing conditions. Weather was also perfect at about 75 degs with light sea breeze. Highly recommend.

Besides the well do c&me nted quirky design and lay out of the back nine, the greens were terrible. I have never seen so many un-repaired ball marks. The speed of the greens was also very slow, which may be a requirement due to the severe slopes of some of the greens. The fairways were good with the exception of a few areas that contained lots of divots that were not filled. If you don't mind the quirky design and the poor greens you will probably love the course.

I played last Sunday for the first time and I don't know why I waited for so long. I work right around the corner so I will definitely be back soon. I really enjoyed the layout of the course, the staff was exceptional, many beautiful holes, and some amazing views! The clubhouse is nice and the restaurant is very good. I felt that the staff really worked hard to provide its guests a first rate golf experience. This course could be a top tier course if they improved on its upkeep. Some of the course is immaculate while some holes are in terrible condition. Another major downside are the power lines and the frequent planes flying by. Nevertheless, I'd recommend playing the course.
