Course is tough especially when the wind comes up

Fairways are thin right now...

Water on several holes.... Pack a snack and something to drink, once you start you will not see the clubhouse until you finish

California City is trying to run this course on a very limited budget and it shows. A very interesting layout and good greens but the fairways are very bad. It appears that the irrigation system does not cover the fairways completely.

Worth the price. Course should be a great bargain once everythings greens up for summer.

Many yellow weeds in fairways right now. Homes popping up quickly, expect course to have a major turnaround within 1-2 yrs from more play and $ coming in due to these homes

This is a great course well worth the green fees. The only complaint is early morning wetness. Having played the course several times, I feel this is due to over watering since it is a persistent problem. Once the greens dry out however, they are fast and true. There is enough water and sand to provide a challenge to all levels, but the forward tee boxes provide an enjoyable outing for the novice.

Saw Erick Estrada (CHiPs) hawking land in California City on TV one night and he talked about the championship golf course. Took a trip to play the course. It was a very nice course. They have a number of very different and challenging holes. There is enough water to make it challenging and there are lots of bunkers. We teed off at 8:00 am on a Saturday (we made the reservation the day before). Played the course in about 4 hours 15 minutes, so the pace was good. The greens are very nice and the putts run very true once they dried off.

My only complaints are 1) they didn't mow the greens and they were very wet-for the first 5-6 greens putts had a rooster tail like a ski boat and it was tough to judge speed 2) the sprinklers were either left on or were broken on a hole and the fairway was completely flooded in the landing zone (right where 3 of us landed).

Overall, it is well worth the trip. We will go back.
