Played on Sunday, 9/27, joining Alex326, DeepSea14, and Todd. Dropped the bag and checked in, cart was ready when I was done.

Course absolutely lived up to, if not exceeded my expectations. From a conditions perspective, it was in fantastic shape. Lush fairways. Level tees. Smooth, challenging greens running a bit close to fast. On the scenery side, oh my gawd, it's incredible. Tree lined fairways which make you seem away from everywhere, elevation changes throughout every hole, wildlife, and huge boulders that are definitely in play.

Definitely a must play in the area, even at the $150 price tag (comparable to area courses though).

The last round for the weekend was at Coyote Moon. DeepSea14 has raved about this course, and now I can see why. Absolutely stunning. Set in the Alpine forest, fairways are lined with tall mature pine trees. And just for added challenge, there are a couple of holes with trees in the middle of the fairway. Adding to the beauty of the course are the numerous huge boulders lining the course and greens. When I say huge, I’m talking the size of a large SUV or small house. Course is set on a mountain so there are plenty of elevation changes both up and down. Whereas Grizzly Ranch mainly goes East/West across the mountain, Coyote Moon goes North/South to really accentuate the topography of the mountain. A few lakes are added in for some bonus beauty and challenge. And just incase the scenery itself didn’t “wow” you they throw in plenty of chipmunks and coyote sightings.

Conditions were great all round. Greens were very smooth and rolled at a medium-fast pace. All greens had double tiers with a few having multiple undulations to navigate. The greens were a challenge but not gimmicky or ridiculous. Enough, that you wanted to be on the correct tier, but not so severe that if you weren’t, you were staring down a 3 or 4 putt.

Fairways were very green and nice and lush. Pretty much the perfect combination of generous roll out yet offering a plush hitting surface. Tee boxes were level and lush. No divot issues on the par 3 boxes.

First and second cut of rough were both manageable, outside of that and you’re in the forest. 50/50 chance of finding you’re ball unless of course you’re Rob1563. How we kept finding some of his shots is beyond me!

Staff was very nice all around.

Etc/ Coivd: No range, but they do have a two station hitting bay into a net. Carts are gas powered with no GPS or sand. If using a GPS/Phone app be patient. There were a few times it would take a few seconds for mine to lock on. The numbers would bounce around before settling in. Cups had foam noodles and no rakes. They did allow us to ride double in the carts. Masks required inside the pro-shop. Restaurant is take out only.

Definitely a highly recommended course. I’m already planning a trip for next season and taking a mountain bike up to throw in the mix with golf.

Out early under smoky skies and a few ash flakes from Frenso area fire. The sun took some time to break through (couple hours) staying red for the front 9. Since this is my 6th review of this venue in a row I will be brief.
The course was very watered and too much in a few areas but with the hot dry summer that was ok. The course seemed greener than usual with the smoky cloud cover and my maui jims.
Played with a first timer and a third time playing the course fourth. Enjoyed their perspectives and distance off the white tees. Pack of 6 coyotes spotted on 4th hole. Looked to be three generations, and 5 deer teeing off on the same hole.
Greens have quickened since last round and have spots of brown from ball marks and more than necessary unrepaired. But rolled well damp at first to dry the last 6 holes.
Not hard to recommend and staying with that. Staff is friendly and 5 star.

Second round here this summer. Early out playing the white tees with a father/son in-law pair who had not played course before.
Conditions overall a tick up from 7/20 round. I though the greens rolled smoother at a pace that putts could be made from longer range. Two antlered deer passed in front of us on the first hole.
Customer service was great and the course is very busy this year according to starter. 200+ rounds the day before. (Saturday)
The comments made by the first timers playing with us were interesting. For example Steve said that the tee shot on a couple holes looked the same. Which they are (#5 & #7) but they are par 4 and par 5 and play differently and or #9 and #15 as well. A perfect summer weather day in the Sierras

Played Monday 7/20 first tee time and we split into two pairs rather than 4-some. Caught by another two-some on the 13th hole. Pace of play 4 hours could have been faster. But that's not the goal at such a nice facility on a summer morning in the Sierra.
Differences compared to Old Greenwood are stark in that CM is in the mountains with many more elevation changes, whereas OG is in the valley with mountain views much flatter geography. Coyote has no homes built around course so you are immersed in the woods feeling playing here.
Overall good conditions. Some greens have brown areas from winter kill but putt well and in good shape rolling medium. Not scary fast from above the hole. Fairways offer good lies and coverage. Rough cut low enough to advance out of there. Bunkers good without rakes though so a few footprints expected. Deer tracks too. Very peaceful here getting out early.
Compared to last year conditions I'd honestly say it's a very comparable, but maybe a star lower than last year.
The course is popular and very busy this year with local deals available and the closest neighboring course Tahoe Donner closed for the season rebuilding greens and tees.

Rode the early wave playing the tees = 6211 yards appropriate for our handicap levels. The early time put us into of a couple of fairways being mowed but not much impedience. Sprinklers on 10th running for our approach shot because we didn't wait a minute for them to be turned off.

Third report in a row and conditions here are consistent and on improving in most all areas. Rough not overly long but will certainly affect the roll out off the tee if you catch it. Greens are good to great rolling putts. A couple of irregular color spots for the visual and one green I moved my ball 3" left to avoid a lone bare spot 18 ft from the middle hole location. Bunkers are good but could use a drag to be really good, but that may stop balls from rolling into the bottom for an easier shot out. All in all great condition.

Again saw coyotes here. This time mom with two pups that turned out to be three with the third a bit smaller tagging behind. In the 7th hole area. Also deer in the woods, antlers in velvet.
Enjoyed the round and the cooler morning temperatures. Perfect no wind day for mountain golf. I will try to take pictures for posting next time.

As far as value for the tee time rates. It's Tahoe Mountain golf. Short season and they have to cover the expense of a top notch facility.
A few ball marks on greens if repaired maybe brown speck or not repaired seems to be a few because the ball wouldn't hold and the divot left un-repaired. Doesn't effect play unless on your putt line. Minor complaint.
Like the layout with the exception of the 13th par three 2 or three club downhill elevation drop. Haven't mastered that yet second try three to go.
Recommend.

Played early out on Independence Day. Course is in good/great shape and getting better. Interesting mountain layout with everything you'd expect from a $$$ cost green fee. Bag service checking in / out. Read the other reviews and notice this course doesn't disappoint and is as expected on a consistent basis.

Had to wait for the green to be finished cut on the second hole. Gave me a chance to get the Bose and iPod connected and listen to Jimi Hendrix star spangled banner (woodstock version)MAX volume. Before hitting my approach. Happy Birthday USA. Customer service great and at the turn the Bloody Mary was nicely/spicy with garnish of pickle onion olive and pepperoncini.

Back to the golf. Course is great all aspects. Greens receptive rolling at the right pace for the undulations. Placement of approach shot / chips key to the lower score. Better quality shots resulted in better results. Bunkers good a light racking they'd be perfect. Great weather and a great round in Truckee CA.

We saw a deer in the parking lot. Two of the Moon's namesake on the 5th hole who didn't mind the music playing or us just trotted along their way. Large hawk. Numerous squirrels and chipmunks. Finished in under 4 hours and headed south to Squaw Valley to ski a couple runs as the big snow year let them stay open. I think the big snow year helped the grasses on these mountain courses overall as this is my second one in two weeks and conditions are likely to improve.

Played 6/9/19 First time playing this course and was pleased. It's a typical mountain course with some narrow fairways and many elevation changes. Numerous elevated tee boxes.
Course is still coming out of winter conditions. Fairway's mostly lush and filled in. Many thin or bare areas that have not grown in yet, but should not take long for them to grow in. Over all in very good condition coming out of a big snow year. Greens were in good to great shape. Some really good and some still growing in, but overall doing well. Challenging & interesting layout. The 17 th is interesting. 250 carry over water from elevated Tee or hit less than driver to a very small landing area next to lake. Was able to clear the lake by a few yards and roll out to about 290. Got to love that mountain air!!!!
