havent played here in years, turned out to be a fun round. Conditions of the course is good with greens rolling pretty good. Not a course i would play all the time due to it being a executive course, but fun once in a while.

FYI: current conditions are not great due to a water main break a couple of months ago.

That being said, once they get the greens to come back all the way this is a good course for groups of varying skill levels. It's short enough for beginners to learn on yet has enough challenging holes that a more skilled player will enjoy as well. There are a number of holes where you will be weighing risk and reward while deciding club selection. OB tends to come into play on a number of holes.

Easy to get on as a single even on weekends. Plus the green fees are only $24 walking on weekends as well.

Recommended for 13+ handicappers. Once the greens are repaired you really can't beat the value.

currently...very bad condition to say the least...
all of the greens have brown spots...i mean brown areas...

tee box is so bare...its like hitting off the dirt...

pace is so slow...this short course took us over 5 hours to finish...too many beginners playing i'm guessing...

the course it self is so packed....if your shot is just a little off from the tee, you better yell fore...cuz it will probably end up at another tee box

i probably won't be back for long time

I haven't played here in over 6yrs and I found it the condition of the course very disappointing. Dry, patchy tee boxes covered in divots. Most of the fairways had brown patches and hardpan areas throughout. There may have been a problem with their sprinkler system because there was a huge ditch dug up behind the green at Hole#3. Greens were very soft leaving ball marks all over them. Why don't people repair their ball marks? Again, brown patches on almost every green and putts don't roll true from the bumpy conditions.

Its a very short track and what makes it fun is deciding on whether to use driver to drive the greens or 7 iron, wedge on all the short Par 4s. Best hole for me is the dogleg left at #18. An uphill teeshot with a huge tree on the corner protected by the driving range directly to the left of it. If you don't have the heart to cut that corner you can always stay on the right of that tree but be careful using driver cuz you may overshoot the fairway.

We got out at 11:30 on 7/13 and it was humid out there. The $24 wknd green fees adds value to a course where you can get creative with club selection off the tees.

It's another short course. But where a course like DeBell has loads of OB and trouble at every turn this course is open, relatively flat. Ball placement is everything. So bag your driver, and pull out your mid irons off the tee box. Greens were T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E! It looked as if the recent areation did not take well. Loads of bare spots, burned out grass so bring your 4x4 golf ball you will need it. Saw sign after round that a Water Main had burst and they resorted to hand watering the course. Not good sign for things to improve in the short term. Course played slow. We played behind a 3 some (1 walking) and were breathing down their necks the entire round. We were a fivesome (2 walking). You do the math. It was frustrating to say the least but one thing I can say is that I did score well...my first round under 80 in over 20 years :D. Now for more saliant facts. Greens still recovering from areation. Very bumpy, loads of bare spots, divots, cigar ash lol you name it. Fairways OK they are lush. Rough is thick and sticky. Sand is OK a little hardpacked underneath but dealable. One point to remember 13,14 15 and a few more holes are like sitting in a shooting gallery. Bear in mind errant shots will fly overhead or into your group. Course is tightly packed so greens get hit into from tee boxes and vice versa.

Alhambra Golf Course: This is my favorite course. This course is like the shortest regulation course in the world. It is a Par 70 measuring 5,212 yards from the blue tees. It is mostly an easy course for good golfers, and it is a good course for beginners that want to play a regulation course, and some holes are challanging, and a fun course for everyone. The course is mostly narrow, but the course is short with bunkers in all of the holes, with 2 lakes. The couse is well decently maintained, better than other courses The front nine is flat, a Par 36. The back nine is mostly hilly and challanging, a Par 34. It is $24 on weekends/holidays, and $19 on the weekdays with $12 for a cart $15 twlight, $8 super-twlight, and $1 junior rate everyday, all day, and a pull cart rental is $6 with a $1 deposit.

course is in pretty good shape right now.

tee boxes were decent

fairways were pretty good other than a few real hard spots right in the middle of the fairway

sand was nice

greens were fairly smooth, and ball marks were at a minimum

4.5 hrs for a 3some with 1 beginner

2 thumbs from me. i have played here many times and it usually plays very well

Teed off at 7 am on March 1. Course is a little wet and soft. Fairways are thin and greens are a little slow. Winter conditions aside, this is a fun executive course that is a good choice for less skilled players. Cheap too.

this is a nice and short course, the staff was very good,we had very good breakfast before heading out.it rained the night before and was a little muddy in areas.the fair ways were good and most of the greens.we played at a very good pace front nine in 2 hr.s and back nine in 1 1/2 hr.s there were a lot of holes that you had to think about on which club to use to best play the next shot

Friday, 8/10, decided to play on spur of the moment and a call to Santa Anita revealed it to be backed up, even for a single. Cast about for an alternative and decided to try Alhambra for the first time as a change of pace. When I called to check on the wait, the starter said to "come on down." Got there @ 1:25 as a walk-on and went out almost immediately with two other singles. As previously described, a predominantly short course, flat for the front nine and hilly for the back. Local knowledge needed only minimally on the front, but handy on the back. At times it can almost seem like an executive course with the short par 4s, but then you have the extended, over-water carry of the 16th par 5 to slap you upside the head. While the lack of length in general definitely discounts the course as any kind of serious test, it was enjoyable. I frequently teed off with irons and worked on playing strategically. The conditons were generally good. Good, level teeing areas, greens in good shape with decent speed and the fairways, while not exactly lush, were OK and gave a lot of roll. The price (under $20 to walk on a weekday) is cheap for 18 holes, but what really got my attention was getting right on, and then having open holes ahead and behind on a Friday afternoon. The thread of prior reviews more often than not seems to suggest that this course has good pace and less traffic than a lot of others in the vicinity. On the day, it was a pleasant surprise and fit the bill. I don't know that I would put it high on my list of regular choices, but it definitely is a place I'll keep in mind for accessibility and the change-of-pace casual round.

It has been several months since the last time I played this course. The course is in fairly good shape. The tee boxes and fairways are in decent shape, just a few bare spots. The greens are a little slower than normal. Except for a few divots, they roll fairly well. This is a fun, but short course. The back nine requires some delicate course management to achieve a good score.

Played for first time (close to work), and was impressed for a muni. . Same as last review, had 7:00 tee, let us go at 6:45 as a two and saw nobody! for 5 holes until we caught up to another two . Any muni in o.c. would be backed up by then, maybe caught it at the right day(tues.) but finished in 3:45!!! The course was in good shape tee boxes, fairways, greens etc.. Visible changes being made to lenghthen short par 4's(250-285) on the tee boxes, but as is, the greens are well guarded w/ trees and bunkers for risk/ reward tee shots. Several reachable 5's and some elevated 3's . Overall great value, playing again next week to see if we were lucky with the crowd..I will let you know....

First of all, it's a short course. Par 70. Doesn't say much. Let's just say for the price, it's good. A few par 5's, some hairy drives over water. Course condition is good 6.5/7 out of 10. I paly it at least once a week. You can definitely walk it. Front nine is very straightforward with some SHORT driveable par 4's. #9 finishes with water on the left. Back nine a little more interesting with undulating fairways. # 13 is par three with steep hill to left. # 18 is a long dogleg par 4. Must make sure you get up over the hill to have a chance at the green.

Serviceable is the best description. Some chewed up tee boxes, fairways, and greens. A couple of interesting holes with mature, tree lined fairways but for the price not a bad course when you're feeling the golf jones.

Played here on Wed the 20th course was in okay condition. The tee boxes were all the way up. And there were not just watering the tee boxes there were flooding them it was very bad every tee box was flodded. Played well not worth the 30 bucks to play from the lady tee boxes. Greens were fast but not to true.

Played this course on a Tuesday and it was fantastic. I used the Reddot book and got 2 players w/ cart for only 43 bucks. The tee boxes and greens were in great condition. They told me they've been doing a lot of work lately and it truly shows. Got through 18 in 4 hours and everyone was friendly on the course. If this is what weekday golf is like, I doubt I can play on the weekends again.

We played today, October 8th with a 2:00 pm tee time. Managed to get all 18 holes in (but it was getting real dark on the last hole). It appears that the greens have recovered from aeration from two weeks ago. I didn't care for the pipeline work on the second hole (there was a real long hole dug up across and along the fairway). Also today all the tees were all stacked together. Some of the tee boxes were very dry and brown. Overall I say the course conditions were fair. I enjoy playing this course. Front nine is very flat. Back nine is very hilly.

Inexpensive golf course. A lot of short holes. I hit the driver only 5 times. The rest of the times it was long irons/hybrids/woods (except on the par 3s). Some of the holes were even to short for hybrids/woods. A lot of brown patches in the fairways so your ball rolls forever. Front 9 you have to watch out for the geese sh$t in the fairways and greens. The course is a good back up when Brookside is closed. The last time I played here it was about 4-5 years ago. Greens were in better condition than I remembered. Tee boxes need some work-very shaggy.

An interesting course. Longer and wider than an executive course, but not quite a full length course either. Recommended introductory course for beginners "graduating" from par-3's, but not quite confident enough for standard courses. Fairly easy to walk on/get a last minute tee time.

Alhambra golf course is my home course. This is short course but pretty well managed. Front nine is flat and pretty easy. Back nine is hilly course and bit more interesting.
I prefer walking than riding in this course for two reasons. First, you don't want to pay $40 for this short course. Second, most importantly, bit slow most of time. Lot of beginners come here to test or practice this swings. Why you want to pay extra for a cart and sit most of time to wait? Might as well walk and execise.
Other than slowness, I recommend this course.

Played Saturday, 10/22. Greens were in good shape, rolled nicely and receptive to shots. The fairways in decent shape as well as the sand traps. Tee boxes were in horrible condition, hitting off dirt on many of them. Pace of play slow, teed off at 8:15, did not finish until after one, too long for that early of tee time, especially since their first was at 7 AM. Good value though with a junior, only one dollar for the junior. Very short course, but lots of trees, and tighter fairways with some deeper rough. Front nine is very different than the back nine. Front is very flat, while the back is quite hilly. A fun course.

Nice and fun little course for the price. Played 10/13, they are currently aerating the fairways so you won't get too much roll. It will probably be a whole lot better after that. It is a muni, so expect it to play like one (i.e. conditions and pace of play).

Course is not to my taste. Shorter course with many Par 4s under 300 yards. Great for short game and iron and my only advice to those playing there is, "bag your Driver!" Won't need it except for a single hole over water. Greens were pretty good; nice roll and good consistent speed. Fairways were in good shape and rough was exceptionaly thick and sticky. Good shots were penalized on several occassions for lack of course knowledge but overall played relatively fair. Case in point, Par 5 Hole 6 has several high fences blocking your ability to cut the corner allowing for a very narrow chute from tee box. Second high fence on same hole cuts off errant draws. Would have helped if score card was not a photocopy and had some sort of map of the layout but hey I just like to nit pick. Overall had decent time. Layout as I mentioned does not favor bombers, and expect to use a few irons off tee box.

Played Wednesday, the 15th: The course just aerated the greens 10 days ago,
they are starting to come back but they are slow. The sand traps were wet and
played poorly (like hitting off clay) I have never seen this before here maybe
a groundkeeper mistake? Other than that the course played well except for
the wildlife on the back 9 that day, I spotted over 50 Skunks over 5 holes on
the tee boxes, fairways, and greens. It made the round a little interesting to dodge
them.

Played Thursday, May 26, 2005: This was my 1st time here, the front 9 holes are straight forward with wide fairways and some water in play just like most muni’s.
But the back 9, what a difference a lot of elevation changes and a great lay out.
It is a short course and a Par 70, but it was fun to play.
They also feature a great practice area.

I try to play this fun little course every year or so. The course was in great condition given all the recent heavy rains! (No carts, but that's ok with me, because none of the people I play with use carts) Greens, fairways, traps, etc, everything was in very nice shape. Always fun playing here, because it affords so many birdie opportunities, plus it is a "real" golf course.

An oustanding course. Hit it straight and you'll play like a pro. Wild shots will punish you and make you wonder how a course with such short holes can cause such a high score.

The front side requires straight shots. The back side is hilly and requires the proper hillside shot techniques. For this reason I have found it a great course to practice on prior to a tournament anywhere.

The staff are courteous and knowledgeable. Execellent 3 tier driving range. Open 'till midnight in summer!

Greens are almost completely recovered. I agree with the comment below about Alhambra Golf Course being a very easy course. I could have driven a couple par 4’s today with my 3 wood but decided not to as to not slow down play. Fun little course.

This is a tale of 2 9's. The front is flat, and doesn't have many surprises. The back is hilly, with some elevated tees, and some risk/reward short par 4's. The par 5 on the back has an intimidating tee shot that you have to carry at least 180 over water from the back tee. The greeens are a good mix of flat and challenging. A great deal if you can get out early am and are short on time.

Played front 9 in 1½ hours. At 11th hole shotgun tournament started and we waited for 2 groups at a few tees and 1 group at others. Fun course for a change when hitting straight. Only use driver if you can reach green on short par 4's. Otherwise lay up with a club you hit straight. Also, on inexpensive side. Make sure of no tournament conflict and you'll enjoy yourself. Greens contain many unrepaired ball marks. Front 9 flat and back 9 hilly.

Very short course with water in play on 2 holes. Friendly customer service, drivable par 4's, and good greens. It's a good course to practice your short game.

This course is a short, "regulation" course at just about 5000 yards. Water, elevated tees
and a few forced carries make for an interesting, municipal golf experience. The staff is wonderful and courteous here. I took some golf lessons here in the early '90's
when I worked in close by Pasadena and I also used the practice facilities quite often.
They have a 3-tiered lit driving range with mats and individual stalls. It is open from sunrise until approximately 10:00 PM ! They have practice greens and practice bunkers also.

Short course featuring tight fairways and many driveable par 4's. Greens are fair and easy to read. If you can hit your driver straight you'll be able to drive on the green on most of the par 4's.
