Played here on 12-2-19. Recent booking policy is to constantly adjust the green fee for different times each day. So, you have to decide whether to book now at a possibly higher price, or wait closer to the date u want to play and hope for a price drop. It's like playing the stock market. I have a Creek Card, but it saved me only $10. Even though it hadn't rained for a few days, when I checked in it was cart path only for all 18 holes. No warning on their app re cpo. You have to call the pro shop the morning you're going to play to find out conditions. The fairways were very shaggy in spots. Looked like normal rough. The rough was brutal - long & sticky, with deep holes. The practice green near the range was punched and bumpy. Fortunately, the greens were in better shape. Pace was a reasonable 4 1/2 hours. I'll skip buying a Creek Card for 2020. No longer worth the ever increasing price.

Played yesterday early in the morning after not playing here for several months. The course was in decent condition. Some thinning due to the heat in the fairways and greens. They are overwatering the course which made it somewhat muddy. Hole #3 had temporary tees set up in the middle of the fairways and was aerated. Greens rolled true but some showed divot damage. Sand traps contained appropriate amount of sand and was soft enough to get your club under the ball. POP was 4 hours. Staff as always friendly.

Got out of work a little early so was able to play a late afternoon round today and got 11 holes in. Could have squeezed in one or two more before dark, but 13 tee box was stacked up so called it a night. Pace was about 2:20 to finish 11 holes which for here is pretty good considering how many players were on the course.
Sad to say that the course is a bit beat up right now. Prior review was spot on - fairways a bit shaggy, a few bare spots in fairways, many more bare spots in rough and throughout the course. Greens slow, lots and lots of ball marks, a few bare/worn areas on green collars. A few sections of new sod have been laid. Not sure why seemingly no one that plays here fixes ball marks. The 2 bunkers I was in were fine.
I think they do a big maintenance in October - hope that gets this course back in top shape - this is a great layout and so much fun to play when conditions are good.

Played yesterday pm. Pace was fine, about 2 hours on front 9; slower on back 9. Conditions had deteriorated since my last visits in July. Dried out fairways and greens left patchy, uneven surfaces. Greens running slow, had trouble convincing myself to hit ball hard enough on long lags. Fairways were scruffy, some dirt lies, with little potholes in fairways and in rough just off. Got very warm at end of round, but cart came by in timely fashion for cold drinks. Sand in traps was inconsistent: sometimes damp hard pan, v. , e.g., very fluffy in left greenside bunker on #15. Creek Card still a worthwhile option if you play here regularly. Led to use of points to cover my round. Cart path only on #2 and 12.

Played Tijeras Creek, first out on 7/15. It was my first time here in over 10 years after having been in the Men's Club here for years. Still one of the best layouts in SoCal, the back 9 is magical. Unfortunately, the same thing that drove me away 10 years ago still exist today - really poor conditions. It seems like they are trying, the course was extremely wet today, with puddles in numerous locations.

Tee boxes are bordering on hideous. It is either shag carpet grass, or divot hell. Especially on a par 3 tee box, good luck on finding a place with a good lie AND good footing. You might get one of the two.

Fairways are OK if you play the ball up. I saw many shots in the fairway end up in divots. Just way too many poor lies in a fairway.

Greens are hit and miss. Lots of unfixed ball marks. Many greens were over-watered. Speed was very inconsistent due to the water.

Apparently they recently refurbished the traps and it shows, they were very nice and consistent, although my playing partners did complain of water in bunkers as well.

I hope the amount of watering means they are trying to improve things here, but I am seeing nothing different from when I frequented here 10-15 years ago. Layout is great, but the conditions are better at just about any course within an hour. Not recommended unfortunately.

It was a good news/bad news day at TC on Wednesday afternoon, 7/10/19, at 3:20pm on a warm sunny day with blustery winds on the front nine, but dropping off to near-serene conditions on the back side. The course looks great driving up. Check-in was easy compared to last time as I had booked online as a single through Supreme Golf for $43 riding. Practice putting green was similar to on-course greens in terms of speed, but with very few holes cut. I was paired with an MV real estate agent and two Asian players and we had a relaxed, enjoyable round. After puttering along on the front nine, the group in front of us pulled ahead, and we almost felt like we were alone out on the back nine, finishing in 4.5 hr. For the most part, that WAS the good news. While looking good from afar, up closer TC showed a lot of unhappy variation in the quality of lies to be found throughout the course. While greens were a wild mix of colors, for the most part they were smooth and rolled at about medium speed. We saw some variance in firmness, resulting in some hit-and-hold and some gong-and-release – you were never sure which you would get. Some greens had very small punch holes over large areas - these greens were softer. Many greens on the back nine had a significant problem with subsurface wildlife pushing up little mounds of dirt that in some cases looked like a substantial infestation. After the wet Winter and mild Spring I was expecting better conditions in fairways and rough. In some areas the coverage was great and lies were consistent, although with the thin-bladed grass in the rough the ball could quickly sit down, calling for good concentration and a crisp strike. However, adjacent to these nice areas and on all holes there were large and small areas that were poorly watered, dry and hard, with turf patchy and semi-bare. Lies here were a real crapshoot, either perched on a turf patch, on bare ground, or sitting down between dry turf clumps. More so on the back nine, there were also many very wet areas scattered across fairways and rough, and in the run-ups to green fronts. Many of these showed significant turf damage from maintenance equipment running through the wet areas. The most egregious of these was on the upslope to the 9th green – only a couple yards from the front of the putting surface, a mower(?) had gouged the wet turf and scraped up a mat of turf into a large, muddy roll, in addition to scraping and damaging the surrounding turf and ground. This damage had been left as is, and golfers were forced to play around it after no attempt had been made to mitigate the damage. Traps generally had adequate sand, but again we encountered varying conditions. The bunkers I found on the front nine had a fluffier sand, while the front greenside bunker on hole #11 was very wet and packed. Tee boxes were in tough condition, with a lot of divot damage on par-3 holes, inconsistent presence of sand refill pails on par-3s (not that golfers use them!), and many boxes slope toward the back of a right-handed golfer. The par-3 tees on the back nine were especially bad in term of unevenness and lumpiness. We saw scattered turf patches where tees and fairways were being repaired. Holes #3 and #6 were cart path only for no apparent reason. No GPS on carts, but many sprinkler heads are marked. While we played the Blue tee markers, most of the Blue tees were placed near the White plates today. Saw the cart girl a few times, the last being on #10 just before 5pm. Fun layout, especially on the back nine. Recommended, with the above notices for conditioning.

Wanted to get some swings in before the GK Desert Willow outing so walked on to TC around 3pm on Wednesday, 5/15/19. Golfnow offerings for the 3pm-4pm time period had been running for $39, so was stunned when stoic, unmoved staff memeber in the shop told me $60! GN does not let you book a single, and I don’t have the Creek card, so I asked him to match the online rate but was told “next time book with GN”. Was able to finally get a $53 rate, which was still disappointing given the GN advertised rate. Overall an unhappy interaction to start the afternoon.

I was hoping for a nice afternoon, but the weather was cloudy and breezy, getting pretty cold as the clouds increased – where are we, Puget Sound? The wind finally dropped off some on the back nine, although you still have to be very aware of the crosswind on the narrow, challenging 12th hole. I was paired with a twosome and we were joined by amiable local Pat, who was fun to play with and we had a relaxed round, finishing in ~4 hours. Recent reviews of TC have been good, and we found the course in good shape, playing the white plates (6,206/69.5/125) – many of the blue tees were up at the white plates, or even in front of them.

Greens were in pretty good condition, with good coverage, firm but holding well-struck shots, a little bumpy in the afternoon and rolling fairly slow at less than medium speed – we continuously left putts short. Many greens had LOTS of old ballmarks.

Fairways had good coverage but the ball sat pretty tight. Rough ranged from short and benign to 2-3 inches that grabbed the club and made distance control difficult. Fairly shaggy collars around the greens made putting from off the green pretty impossible. Tees were flat and in good shape, except for a couple of par-3 teeboxes that were torn up, and there was no divot mix container or it was empty. Sand was ample and in good condition, although pretty damp out in the middle of the bunkers.

Saw a cart girl several times. Refill rack of divot mix on the 10th teebox. Basic but newer carts – no GPS, no cooler, no ballwasher. Many sprinkler heads marked. Staff started warning us on #15 green that we might not finish (carts must be in before dark), but we were able to complete the round ahead of the last couple groups. TC is pricey and the shop experience was not great for me – that’s why I only play here about once per year.

This course is great shape right now. Breezed through the front 9 in about 2 hours, never waiting but it slowed down on the back. Sill finished in about 4. 5 hours.

Fairways are great. Didn’t have a bad fairway lie out there at all. The rough was thick and penal. Hit the ball a little heavy and the rough would easily turn the club face. Tee boxes were excellent. Full coverage and freshly cut. Bunkers were excellent also. Good firm sand.

The greens are excellent. A bit hard, not holding and not real fast but they rolled great.

This course is a challenge. Potential for birdies on some holes but can see double bogeys on others. Particularly on the back 9 where some fairways are tight. Only played here twice and the back 9 has kicked my butt each time. Still a beautiful track with some great views. Look for a good price online and go for it! Highly recommend.

4/22 216 tee off with invite to join Leef2020, Mike and Ken. I had just completed my review and went to submit but my internet went down and when I went to reconnect I lost it all. So this is going to be brief and to the point. Had a great time with these guys with good weather and excellent scenery making the 445 POP more tolerable. Course is in good shape overall and the $42 fee was worth it. Fairways have good cover firm enough for some roll but with good cushion. Rough not overly long but presented a challenge depending on the lie. Tees level with some a little shaggy but ok. No 1st hand experience with the bunkers but they looked ok.
Green quick enough and consistent for speed, Did notice that with the later start foot traffic was evident especially with front pins leading to some bumpiness.
