Top 3 Public Golf Course I've played. Fantastic layout and was in prime condition. Extremely challenging but for upper end players its a must play. From the tips or blues the tee shots force you to think about shot shape. Greens were true (and very fast) bunkers had plenty of sand and were well manicured. Highly Recommended!

Loved it! We were all in awe of the conditions and the beauty of the golf course. Greens were fast and true, fairways lush and green. The rough was cut short and was easy to hit out of. The only thing not up to par was the bunkers - there were some with little to no sand. Staff was helpful but not spectacular. There was a problem with tee times due to frost delay and we were not pleased by the way they handled the rescheduling.
The course is a must play for all golfers. Highly recommended specially during this season as the weather is perfect, the conditions of the course is perfect. And 17th hole - will get your blood pumping! what a rush!

Totally over the top design. Punishment will be had for the slightest mistake (or you may just get a funky bounce from a well-struck shot). Devised the Dye bogey today - namely, if you hit anything but fairway then hack out to the short stuff and try to make par from up-and-downs. Worked once. He doesn't want you to recover from errors.

How much they pay to maintain this much sand is beyond me because most of it is in decent shape (It has to be if you are trying to pop it straight up 20 feet to the green a la 16 hole "moat").

Rough had to be the most d%mn ing stuff I have ever played on. Thought I had pulled the worst lie I ever got at one point until I saw my playing partner's predicament a few holes later - total fried egg sitting at the bottom of at least 5 inches of gnarly bermuda. Quite proud of myself that I found both of those balls! (and that we got both out on one swing!)

Conditions good throughout - just try to play conservatively from the short tees and keep it in the fairways (no guarantee of success!). The mounding/rough will kill you with some crazy lies and stances.

This is one of my favorite courses around! What a difficult beautiful test of golf! Most golfers should not go out here expecting to shoot a good round because there is A LOT of trouble out here. The course has some amazing golf holes that you will remember forever. The 17th is just an amazing island green and very difficult from the tips. I understand they are punching the greens now but this course is a MUST PLAY! If you are an SCGA member then make sure you tell them that when you make your reservation. PGA west has a great deal on all their public courses for SCGA members! Enjoy your day out here and drink lots of water!

Played Saturday afternoon at 3 pm. Finished in 4.5 hours. This course is in very good shape and fast greens. They will be punching very soon. This one of the hardest courses to play. You will hit a good shot and get one bad bounce and then you are on some sort of a side hill lie. Pete Dye has moved around millions of tons of dirt to make this place hard. Still very fun to play, you just can't get frustrated with some of the bounces out there.

The last time I played here there were ugly fans surrounding each green. NO more. They changed the type of grass that can withstand the heat much better. The course is also much better. You have your tough water holes. But even on the shorter par 4's you have to strategize your play. Every hole is an adventure and fun to play. The improved conditions make it all the better.

Played PGA WEST Stadium Course yesterday (at) 12:30. What an amazing course. Everything you hear about this place is true and then some. Tough tough course. Water hazards comes into play on just about every hole. Dog leg left, dog leg right and even one hole with a double dog leg. Greens were super firm and fast. The fairways were immaculate; similar to Trump National. The bunkers...were fluffy..I hit one 15 feet high.and another one on 16....that was 25 feet high. Luckily I got out both times. Each of the holes were well bunkered. The lies were tough even with perfect drives. The scenicary is 2nd to none. Absolutely must true. It's worth the green fee!

Not that hard right now because the lack of wind and slower green speeds takes the teeth out of this course a little. It was still very difficult. You must hit the fairways. Doesn't get really hot until about Noon. Very playable in the morning, and if you can handle the heat, they have a replay rate of $39 for the stadium and $29 for the Norman. The Nicklaus course is closed for renovations.

We played this course on a stay and play at La Quinta resort. What a steal. This was the only course in the package that we had to pay a surcharge, of $50, to play, but it was worth it for one round. We played from the whites because we didn't know the course very well, and because it claims to be the 4th toughest in the US. Well, not from the whites, it isn't. From there it's average difficulty. Conditions were very good, but not as good as the Norman course--apparently because the Norman course gets a lot less play. Greens were fast and true, but a little bit brown. More interesting layout than the Nicklaus course. Great service and goo space of play.
