After being told that it is the same rate(walk or ride), I paid my $32 to trudge around to find similar conditions as recently described. This place is on the verge of. I have golf buddies who live in this "golf" community and they choose to play anywhere else BUT here! I understand their plight. The homes outshine the condition of this average at best golf course.
One strange thing I noticed was a big guy riding around in a golf cart "overseeing" the course. I ignored him-assuming that he was the newest "new" manager or the actual superintendent. Apathy is a horrible character flaw! Seemed to be a reflection of the golf course........

I think Woodpen played with blinders on, or he is an employee. As for a new Super, that's a crock. I play here every week and the course has been going downhill for quite awhile. The rates are going up and the conditions are getting worse. The tee boxes need to be redone, the fairways are either barren or waterlogged with ruts being made by players driving their carts through the soaked areas. This used to be a little gem of a course, now it just seems like another business that fell on hard times.

Played on 9/28/12 in the afternoon with my brother. I noticed that nobody has reviewed Upland Hills in awhile, so I thought I would post an update.

First of all, the pace of play was not bad at 4 hours. The staff was friendly as usual.

Now the bad part. This course is in about the worse shape I've seen it, although playable and good for a quick escape to slap some dimples arounds.

The tee boxes aren't bad with some bare and uneven areas. Some of the fairways are in need of some care and have a lot of bare or dirt spots. Then there are the greens. Athough they were recently punched on the front nine, there is no excuse for all the divot damage. The back nine was a little better but still have been really neglected for some reason. Different types of grass growing in some of the greens made it tough to judge the speed and all the divots make the line sketchy at best. The bunkers are inconsistent and hard in spots.

All in all, I may come here for a quick round now and then, but I won't play here for my usual golf day unless they somehow can turn this place back into what it once was.

Had not played here in a couple years. Wont be back for a couple more. The good - front desk was courteous, we thought we would be walking for $22, informed us that they changed the rates $32 walk or ride so we rode. They gave us a token good for all you can eat. Food was not bad, BBQ chicken sliders, turkey sliders, burgers, that was our 3 dishes and were not bad drinks were extra.

The course - have never seen it this bad. Tee boxes were decent a few were thin. the fairways were lush mixed with mottled bare spots, like they had gotten rid of bad grass in small clumps all over some areas. the rough was longish but they were in the process of cutting as we played. The greens were lush, inconsistent roll, between med-fast to slow, with many ball marks from the twilight players because they had dried out, fixed at least 7 on each hole. One of the groundskeeper crew was going around fixing them and putting sand on the bad ones. Bunkers were hard pan with no sand.

The good - finished in 3 hr 45 min, and I scored well which is always a plus.

The course appears to be turning around a little. They need to work on the tee boxes then the fairways. (Hint to the owners and greenskeepers). The greens are slowly getting better but still are not like they were 7 years ago when they were deep green soft and fast.
Tee boxes are a mess still and it is sad they allowed the course to get in the shape it is in now.
Fairways are still like hardpan for the most part. But you can still take a divot.
Sand traps are hard and seems like there is no topping in them only base.
Rough is still OK.
It would be nice to see the owners focus on restoring this once nice track. The players would return like days of old if they ever head these warnings on GK.
I will still play here now that they got rid of some personnel. But It is not worth the cost to play during the morning. When you can play Shandin Hills for less and in better shape than Upland.
"Come on Upland get your course back in shape"!!!!!

In my last post on Upland Hill's course was somewhat favorable. I played last week and found the course to be turning the opposite way again. Greens were near dead from lack of water. Fairways looked the same.
Tee boxes are worse than before.

Hopefully the management will get the idea that their either:
1. have to hire new people to take care of the course. Or
2. the owners need to spend the money to bring the course back to it's original state.

This is a cool short course for long iron play.

Well it has been a while since I have played Upland Hills. It appears to be improving in lot of areas including the staff in the field. Instead of riding up and mowing when you are putting is no longer a problem. " FINALLY".
The greens are getting better smoother and less ball mark damages.
Fairways are still patchy ( green and yellow patches) but looking more lush than the last time I played.
Sand traps look lot better except all the rocks in there. Other than that it is a vast improvement.
