Encinitas Ranch is in better shape than I've seen in quite a while, but it is still sort of average in conditions all around. The greens are look fairly good although we did have putts bouncing around a lot. Fairways are pretty good, mostly decent lies all around and only occasional bare areas. Bunkers are horrible. Every one our group found was hard and crusty, some had grass popping up, and all could use a good raking. If you're an Encinitas resident, it's not a bad value but it's terribly overpriced otherwise.

This was my first time playing Encinitas Ranch so I was excited to check a new course off my list. Our tee time was set for 3:37 but we were able to get out at 3:00. We played from the back tees and after playing the tips at Torrey South last weekend, the shorter course was much welcomed. The weather was perfect, with minimal ocean wind on most holes. The fairways were very nice, cushioned yet allowing for smooth contact through the ball. The rough was a mix between pretty minimal penalty to some nasty lies on some holes. The bunkers were unbelievably good. Half of every green was recovering from being punched which was unfortunate to see when we ended up on the first green. The practice green was lighting quick while the on course greens were much slower. I ended up with 32 putts but felt like I wasn't rewarded for hitting good putts and then would get punished for putting it too hard to get it to the hole. They probably need 2-3 weeks to heal and firm up. As for the course lay out, I enjoyed it and my score reflected that with a 78 including my first eagle! There are a few hole where you would need some course knowledge as to how to play it best (i.e hole 7 is a layup of 200 yards off the tee). The greens are very large and bunkered so ball striking and proximity to the hole are premiums. Fairways are massive and most holes offer room right and left to miss. The biggest challenge this course has is the significant elevation change on most holes and the hilly lies. It is a very fun course that will reward good ball striking and putting and I will definitely be back to play it!

Just started playing again after playing once a month or so. Great course to do it, pretty open on most holes. Fairways and greens were in great shape with terrific views from many holes. There are a couple of holes where you can get into trouble, but in general, it is a course to score on. A little overpriced in my opinion, but worth a round if your in north county coastal.

This course drains unbelievably well! We had nearly 2 inches of rain the day before and the course only had one or two puddles that would've affected your shot. I played by myself because no one wanted to go with me because of the rain conditions. Well, I scored the best I've ever scored; 91 par 72. This course is so wide open which helps your score indefinitely! The conditions all around are in good shape. I highly recommend it !

I played Encinitas Ranch on 1/2/17. There had been rains in the days before and the course was cart path only. This place did seem to drain a little better than the Crossings after the rains.

The tees overall were pretty good level with good grass coverage. There were a few that were not level and the par 3 tees were quite chewed up.

The fairways are in very good condition with a few divot marks but overall good grass coverage.

The greens were a little worse than the last time I played. There are still bare spots around the collars of a lot of greens. There are un repaired divot marks that have since mutated into small bare spots on some holes. With that being said the greens rolled true when not in line with a bare spot and were pretty fast even after the rain.

I was not in a sand trap but I did not see any standing water in them (overall looked good).

My dad loves this course because it plays to his slice, is pretty short from the white tees and has very large greens.

Played Encinitas Ranch on Saturday (9/10/16). Started at 7:06 AM and finished roughly at 4 hours for a nicely paced round in the morning. Got there around 6:30 to warm up and grab a bite but the bar with food does not open until 7:30 AM but the proshop was nice enough to gift me a cup of coffee.

Last time I played here the greens were very firm but this time they were soft and very receptive to shots. There are still more than a few holes where the collar of the green has bare spots. They rolled fairly true and were a medium fast speed.

The fairways are still in good condition with some thinning and bare spots showing up at number 7. Also on hole number 7 they removed the camera and monitor that was used to make sure the fairway is clear. In its place is a sign that instructs you to leave a cart at the top of the hill until everyone has hit.

The rough is minimal and often times if you go too far off course you will wind up in a different hole's fairway and still have a shot into the green. I was in a fairway and a greenside bunker both were raked and the sand quality was good.

The cart girl showed up around 9 am and we saw her a few times. I do not like this course as much as the Crossings or Arrowood but it is in good shape has some nice ocean views.

I played Encinitas Ranch on 8/13/16 (apologies for the late review). The greens were very firm. Despite hitting wedges into greens I don't think I made one mark. They rolled pretty well not as fast as I was thinking with the firmness. The collars on alot of the greens had bare spots some were rather large which I don't think I remember seeing the last few times I played this course. The fairways were in good shape the grass was green and there was only a few spots with divot damage. The rough was recently mowed as a result it was a uniform height and did not penalize you alot. I was in a few sand traps and the bunkers were nicely raked and provided ample opportunities for me to showcase my horrendous bunker game. It was a hot day in northern San Diego county and the breeze from the ocean was very welcoming. The cart person came around a few times.

I played here on Tuesday, July 19, 3:18 tee time. We played from the green tees, which is the whites on the long holes, and the blues on the shorter ones. Conditions were pretty typical, with management holding back on water due to the drought. I didn't see any bare spots on the fairways, but there was a lot of thin grass. The greens were in terrific shape, a little spongy so held shots pretty well. The bunkers were fine with plenty of sand. The course is not long, and aside from the par 5s and short par 4s, I rarely used my woods, and I think I used a hybrid only once. Although I took a cart to be sociable, the course is walkable, with only the walk between 9 and 10 being lengthy. All in all, a good day.

Course condition: Greens were running fastish and were pretty clean from ball marks but as someone had said before the greens are a little soft so they were a little foot printed up which when the greens a running a little fast, can cause havoc. Around green had bare spots in some areas. Course has a lot of mixed grasses and rough really wasn't present. Was not in any bunkers but they looked nice.
My Bias- I did not like the course. Yes you can spray it and be ok but, there were too many blindish shots for my liking. I am not a fan of bunting it out there and then hitting to a super elevated flag (that you cannot see) or hitting to a tiny landing spot. It is the same issue i have with courses like stoneridge. It was my first time playing here and I would play it a bit better a second time but< I doubt there will be one.

Staff was very very pleasant and kept us on pace as well as everyone on course on a crowded Sunday. range was of mats and had large putting area.
