The final round of the trip took me to Pahrump, NV, it’s about an hour outside Vegas, scenic drive, to Mountain Falls Golf Club. I knew I was in for a treat since I’ve never read a bad review about the course on GK. Joined Sixpez again and tee it up just past 7:30am.

Sixpez’s review really nails it and I totally agree. Golf course was overall in very good shape with some blemishes here and there from the heat of the summer. What I enjoyed most about the golf experience is the layout…especially the back nine. The layout to me does not wow you until the 8th hole and then from that point on, solid! You get a great mixture of challenging holes and yardages with lots of water hazards, tight driving holes, mature trees, some elevation changes (the course is predominately flat) and unique green complexes. The most challenging aspect of the course is by far the greens…very undulating with multi tiers at times. We played the blue tees and it was a great test at 6647 yards.

In addition to an excellent course, they have an excellent practice facility, good size restaurant (affordable prices) and clubhouse. The service on and off the course was prompt and courteous. It’s nice relaxed vibe and to me worthy of the drive up from Vegas to experience.

Played here Saturday (8/17) morning with JohnnyGK, Jim from Par-4 Golf Management and another guest, Zach. We teed off around 7:30 and there was hardly anyone out there, so we enjoyed our own relaxed pace. The course was in good shape overall. The fairways and rough were lush and green. There were some thin/brown spots scattered throughout the course, but nothing that affected play much. A few greens had some small areas where repair work was being done in patches, but the holes were kept away from those areas. Greens pretty smooth and firm, but much slower than they look. Bunkers a little crusty on top, but decent enough. I would like to see a tighter cut on the fringes. Too shaggy now and putting not much of an option even if you are just a foot or two off the green. The two nines here have a very different feel. The front is a pretty forgiving and straightforward layout tee to green. The greens are much bigger and more undulating than they look from the fairways, so be careful on your approaches. The front nine isn't as nice looking visually. There are no homes around the course, there aren't as many trees and the open desert areas are really just flat expanses of dirt/silt/sand. You get some nice unobscured views on the front, but it's not near as good looking as the back. The back nine has a more "mature" look with a lot more trees, long native grasses, desert brush and homes surrounding the course (but not right on the course, so they don't get in the way or detract visually). There are some nice water features, the layout tightens up a bit and it's very enjoyable. The 18th green is one of the biggest and craziest you will ever see with a giant butterfly shape. Mountain Falls is a very nice course in an inconvenient location. Not sure if I would drive all the way out to Pahrump just to play it again, but if you are already there or visiting for "other" reasons, it's a must-stop for sure. Very good facility and experience all around.

Mountain Falls is a housing development located in Pahrump NV. House construction stalled the last few years, but the course is still there and still kept up.
Course layout is a standard housing development layout snaking through housing lots. Since there are few houses, it plays wide open. Lots of gentle dog legs with lots of slightly elevated greens. The greens are generally large, but are tiered so that the effective green area near the hole location is quite small. This is the hardest part of playing this course -- getting your approach shot into the correct section of the green.
Despite the information from the clubhouse staff, I'd bet my Nevada cowboy boots that the greens are a rye mix with a significant amount of poa annua. Green speeds were slow -- seemed about 8 Stimp. Spring is late this year, so the greens have not really started to grow much.
But the greens were in great shape. Pretty firm so no ball marks and rolled true. Just slower than they look.
Tees are flat and very good. Quite large so no problem with divots. Fairways are wonderful -- no thin lies, and the ball sits up. Rough was relatively short and not penal. Lots of trees for a desert layout. Bunkers have good sand, not too firm so you can explode out and not too soft so no fried egg lies. However, because the wind blows, most of the bunkers have high lips to keep the sand from blowing out.
A few water hazards that are well placed and do come into play.
Practice facilities look like a private course. All grass driving range. Two large putting greens and two large chipping areas including practice bunkers.
Highly recommended -- one of those gem courses in the middle of nowhere with low green fees. Not really convenient to get to, but well worth playing if you're in the neighborhood.

Wow!! This course is really the hidden gem in LV so far for me. Went out to play their 9am Thanksgiving shotgun but unfortunately only 20 people showed up (But it's ok :)so they just let us out accordingly me and my bro was the first to show up an hour early so we get the first flight. For $55 i don't think you could beat this deal that is if you don't mind driving an hour from the strip. This is the lowest green fee me and my bro ever payed in LV but it beats a lot of those $100+ courses. Conditions were PERFECT i mean from the tee to the fairway , the bunkers have nice fluffy sand and the greens were rolling true and the speed is perfect no coloring of any kind to make it look greener. don't really know the stimp meter on it but it's perfect! Really liked the holes with 2 greens but forgot the hole # Hit my drive far right of the fairway so there's a tree obstructing my view on the closer green so i just hit the other green which is clear but a little farther :) The practice facilities are also top notch. If only they didn't close early coz it's Thanksgiving we would've played again. The staff are all nice and polite. Finished in just almost 4 hours but could have been faster but since we know that not a lot playing we kinda relaxed a little bit. I will definitely come back when im in Vegas.

Day 3 of a 4 day golf trip. Now this is what all other courses should hope to be when it comes to conditions. On the outskirts of Pahrump 45 minutes from I-15 is this gem of a course. The housing downturn really effected Nevada and it shows on this course with only the back nine having housing, the front nine is just empty lots. This course does not over seed and it one of the best if not the best conditioned courses I have ever played on. The weekday rate for a nonresident is $55, yes you read this correctly.
Tees: Lush and green and level
Fairways: Lush and dark green and perfect, yes perfect.
Rough: 1-3 inches and thick, no bare spots, it's like they have cut each individual blade of grass to be the same length as the next. again Perfect!
Bunkers: Not perfect but better than I had played this week.
Greens: Receptive and ran medium fast and true. Very minimal ball marks.
This course has a feature on it I have never seen at any course, holes 9 and 14 have two greens to shoot at, you can either play one that is normal, or one that needs more shot making abilities. If you have a GPS the GPS is measured to the easier of the two greens. Hole 18 looks like it shares it's green with another hole, but it doesn't, it's just a HUGE hour glass shaped green. If you are on the wrong side of the green, you either have to chip off the green to get to the other side or try and not make a 3 or 4 putt. The drive to Pahrump takes you over a mountain pas and is not that bad of a drive. The grill at Mountain Falls is great with food that is better than most courses. Pace was 3 hours and comfortable.

Played here for the first time this week and I have to say it was a great experience. The course is as green as I have ever seen any course. The fairways were incredible as well as the rough. From the moment I stepped onto the facility to the moment we left, it was a class act. Saw the cart lady 6-7 times during the round. The greens were in great shape, firm and true. If there was one thine that could use a little help was the bunkers, not bad, but not great either. The pin positions all day were in sucker positions, but I learned very quickly to play to the heart of the green and accept a two putt. A couple of the holes had two greens and the greens chosen for this day were the more difficult of the two, with water carries and false fronts. The only complaint about these greens was that my GPS was reading to the greens that were not being used. Pace of play was at 4 hours. Just 45 minutes off of I-15 I will be back next time I travel to Las Vegas.

Played here on beautiful sunny and not too hot September afternoon. Course is in great shape overall no over seeding on this course makes it great to play this time of year with other courses closed or cart path only right now. Only slight imperfection is the lack of sand in the green side bunkers. Greens are best in Vegas area for consistent speed and acceptance of approach shots. Fairways and rough are lush and green no water restrictions in Pahrump. Great practice facility at this course. Customer service is great only problem if you play twilight is kitchen in clubhouse closes at 400 pm. Beautiful course design and conditions here and price is same for everyone tourists and locals alike. Great value if visiting area a must see and play!! 45 minute drive from Las Vegas if you did not know worth the trip.

This course is always emaculate, from tee to green, every time I've played here. The pace of play was somewhat slow, but consideing that it was Friday afternoon I guess it's understandable. Only got in 16 holes by 5:30, but still more than worth the greenfees at this spectacular course.
One of the best things about this course is that they 'do not' try to price-gouge visitors like all the other Vegas courses do!! This is a MUST PLAY course for anyone visiting Vegas. About 40 minutes drive, but you will not be disappointed!!
