I played 6/12 at 830am. Booked through GN for $39 including a sleeve of ProV1s and all you can play. Pretty good deal.
Not many people playing on the course. I was able to play 36 in a little under 5 hours by myself without rushing it around.
The course looked good for summertime in Arizona. The greens were aerated more than a week before I played but were in great shape. They were the best greens I have seen so far this summer. They were able to hold a shot very well.
The fairways were a little burnt out in some areas and very lush in others. Some drives would roll out and some wouldn't. The bunkers were all in good shape and consistent through the rounds.
The course itself is challenging and forgiving at the same time. If you hit off line you still have a chance to get on or near the green. I enjoy the different lengths of par 4s when you don't always hit driver. Sometimes a rescue or even an iron is the smarter play.
Overall I enjoy playing Estrella. They do a good job of keeping it up in the summertime and the all you can play deal is good.

There is a practice putting green adjacent to #1 tee as well as a main practice green in front of the clubhouse. The starter was very informative about the nuances of the golf course. As our groups had all played here previously, we got the abbreviated version.

fairways were firm and fast with very light rough. Rollng off the rough into the desert areas was no bargain with bush and rocks everywhere. i spent most of the front nine in greenside bunkers given the 28 mph gusting to 40 mph winds. Sand was very good as I managed to save par on 3 of the 7 opportunities. Greens were in excellent shape, receptive to a low spinning wedge that I used to fight the wind.

Pace of play was 4:50 that I attributed to the high winds. It was tough to keep a ball in the air. Marshal and beverage cart were about and passed by frequently. I loved the course design and the shot values. This was a return trip. Well worth the money and we gave up our Masters Sunday. We managed to catch the last two holes in the small bar whcih had quick service. There is a very large patio area that we would have retired to had the Masters not been on.

I highly recommend this course although it is way out there in South Goodyear.

The Golf Club of Estrella is a Troon Managed Course and you find that out the moment you drive into the parking lot. Customer service here is top notch and anything you need before hand is brought right out to you, then it is followed up with wet club towel, a yardage booklet that is outstanding and a complete hole diagram marked with sprinkler distance to green and outstanding 100-150-200 yard markers.
The range here is outstanding, well marked from 75-270 yards. There is a short game practice area along with bunkers to sharpen your game, and believe me you will need to be sharp with this part. Practice greens, there are two are in excellent with the second one allowing you to practice those important little chips. POP was just 4.5 hours on Thursday, teeing it up at 10:15. The Greens here are superior very lush no ball marks and running quite fast at 11 on this day. You will find the bunkers here to be deep and in many cases as it should be penal in nature. Fairway sand 3-4 inches and fluffy, green side 5-6 fluffy and very deep faced. The fairways here are mowed tight yet still very lush, with the rough coming in at 3-5 inches. If first time playing the starter is very helpful with his hints on how to play the course.
The only draw back here is that they are starting to grade for more houses on the front nine so some of that open away feeling is taken away from you. The rack rate here comes in at just over 100.00 dollars and their twilight starts at 2:30 and the fee only drops a few bucks so it is well worth it to get out and pay the ( C-NOTE) As with all other Troon manged properties this is a must play and well worth the fee.

Have played Estrella a few different times. This round on 8/9/12 I was a bit disappointed in the condition of the greens and fairways.

I understand that it is the summer in Az, but there were a lot of bare spots on the fairways and on some of the greens that I had not experienced here last summer. There were quite a few stressed areas.

That said, it is an outstanding design with multiple memorable holes and I know that they will get the course back into it usual quality state.

Played here for the first time in a year. The greens looked a bit brown but were fast and true, and would hold a shot. The fairways were a bit bare in spots, as if the over-seed hadn't taken (yet?). We used the Troon Golf coupon and got golf, a dozen of the new PRO V1's and lunch and unlimited golf (which we never utilized) for $99 plus tax. The regular rate for today (Friday) was $69, so a good value. It is a player friendly course, fairways are wide, greens accepting of shots and were fast. The map/yardage cards were useful if you aeren't sure where to hit it to, as there are a couple of holes that have some hidden hazards or areas to stay away from. All in all it is a very enjoyable course, and I think, worth the drive out there.

Played 6/29/10. Course is in beautiful shape all around. A challenging dessert course with lots of hazards, but lots of room to drive the ball on most holes. Make sure you have the correct club off the tee for the short par 4's and the lay ups on the 5's as they have dessert hazards fronting the greens. Also, this course uses different grasses on the greens and fairways than most of the other courses in the area. A bermuda type grass on the greens which lands soft but puts fast. Fairway grass is closely mowed but soft so your club can get under it.

this course was awesome... well worth the drive... played on july 26 and the course conditions were very great. tee boxes were great as well as the fairways... some greens had some thin spots but rolled pretty well... the desert layout was really fun. hole 17 and 18 were to great closing holes. will return for sure on my next trip back to phoenix....

All of the other greens are great. Course is in very good shape. All of the staff are wonderful! At the rates they are charging it is a bargain.

Course was in good shape, greens actually held approach shots unlike how firm WeKoPa, Eagle Mtn., and Longbow's greens were on weekend of April 17-20, 2009. Fair, fun, challenging course to play.
