Back nine at our own pace which was rather quick. Tees and fairways are great.
Rough very good coverage some thin spots, some very thick. Now for the less the good.
Greens were a complete hit or miss. Some were good about half looked and played poorly. Longest putt in our group made was about 4 feet. They truly are that bumpy. There are some small spots with no grass, extremely bumpy, uneven, and old ball mark damage. Quite a few of the greens looked like a quilt, lots of small resodded patches everywhere. They were long slow and the ball had almost zero roll out. I was not in a bunker, but they looked rough.
Strangely only once was anyone in our group in a bunker and his cleats didn't even sink into the ground. The parking lot was softer. Nothing even to rake pure hard pan.

If going don't play full rack and don't expect a great putting round, but a nice place
if not in a bunker or on a bad green surface.

Tees great fairways typical winter low cut dormant with clumps of green stuff in it. Rough was a different grass and taller and could be real thick at times. Fences around some lakes off putting. Greens are better, but only because they were really bad last time I was there they were horrible. Lots of small bare spots that caused balls to bounce around a lot.
Little inconsistent speed wise, but overall medium. Bunkers are probably pretty good if they were not so wet from the rain. An improvement there. I still like the layout and conditions are getting better

Took a trip up through hwy 99 to play some courses along the way. The Links at Riverlakes was my first stop. Got there at 12:30 and immediately went to the tee to play solo. $25 senior rate! Caught this course during winter maintenance as they recently over seeded the greens and some of the fairways so not at its best. There were some dry spots also so maybe they had some water issues. Very nice lay out though. Great guys in the clubhouse and they have a nice bar. Definitely coming back one to play again.

Played the afternoon of 7/10/2014. The tees are perfect absolutely awesome. Even on par 3;s very few divots. Fairways and roughs are also very good, occasional thin spot. Edges near homes are a little rough, but who cares no one ever hits there ball near a house right? The bunkers have a mixture of dirt and sand. In high temps the dirt part dries out and gets very crusty. Kinda weird to hit out of as you don't know whats underneath. Greens are a wreck. They did some sort of aeration I think. The greens look like they have "slots" in them. Some grassed over some not. There are a few bare spots, some bare sport with a fungus growing. Some greens have multiple kinds of grass. The grass was long on them as well, I could not tell if they were cut or not. Some ball marks and slow as could be. These greens have some severe slopes. You can hit the ball pass the hole and it will normally roll back down, but not now they are that long and slow. Still a great course until you get to the greens. They well infuriate you as you keep missing 3 footers that hit something a veer a foot offline. They also were fertilized or painted a weird blue/greenish color that looks completely unnatural

same thing. Seemed to good to be true so my friend called in. They are having trouble
with the greens. Decided to go anyway. Course is in very good condition with the exceptions of a few areas and of course the greens. Most have some bare spots that
you really can't putt through. Some greens had no bare spots, but were bumpy. Three
greens had been completely re-sodded. those surfaces are soft, uneven and very bumpy.
It is a challenging course tee to green. Once greens improve it will be back to its normal
great self. If you can live with so-so greens go play. IF that bothers you I would wait it out

Played here yesterday morning before heading up to Stevinson Ranch for the GK Event. What a fantastic course on all levels. Borderline "immaculate" right now! Had to get out early, so walked on as a single. First one to check in and was teeing off by myself a little before 6am, so set my own great pace on a muggy morning. They water this course a lot, so things were soggy early on and that added plenty of moisture to the air. $55 rate, so no discount, but they always have tee time deals online, so it's not hard to find a better price. As noted, the course was in gorgeous condition other than the dampness. Tee boxes, fairways and rough were lush, green and cut beautifully. Bunkers very wet, but very soft sand in the few I found. Greens did have a good number of old ball marks, but mostly smooth. Very soft and receptive early in the morning and they are cut a little longer heading into the hot months, so medium speeds. They were being sprayed with some fertilizer or something that has a green dye in it, so my ball would pick up some green juice on putts, but it wiped off easily. I knew this was supposed to be one of the better courses in the region, but the reviews here always seem a bit mixed and I didn't fully know what to expect. Blown away by the conditioning and really liked the links style layout. Plenty of water in play and some really awesome green/bunker complexes, especially on 15 and 18, which are stunning holes!!!

Played 2/24, first time. Pretty nice place, good guys at pro shop, good layout of various holes. Had an issue at breakfast that was very well handled by staff so kudos there. They advertise as a links course that makes you feel like you're in Scotland or Ireland. I have to say I don't know where they got this description. I didn't notice the burns they are advertising. The lakes BARELY come into play and there are trees. This is NOT a links course. That said, I did like the layout, just seems a bit misrepresented in their description.
Course conditions varied a bit. Tee boxes were generally good and level. Fairway were very very dormant, mostly all brown and fairway grasses resembled a bit more of straw and hay than dormant grass. However, I had decent lies on this and really didn't effect play much. First four or five greens were spotty but all of a sudden about the sixth hole they got pretty nice and smooth. Rough was about as good as the fairways, spotty at best. Sand was decent at times, hole one's green side bunkers looked like the backed up a dump truck of mud and poured it in.
All this said, I understand its winter in Bakersfield and I can't expect Palm Springs conditions. I will go back late spring and am confident conditions will be good. I do recommend trying here, maybe just not this month.

Played the blues on Feb 12 at 12:30. I had an excellent round of golf on this well maintained challenging course. There is alot of hazzards to contend with lakes,sand traps and ob and luckly I got out of there with a 90. Will be back.

I haven't played at The Links at Riverlakes Ranch in almost three years. I was pretty disappointed in how it seems to have been let go. I know that winter dormancy can account for a lot of the fact that there is no fairways but it was pretty sad. I like the layout of this course and find it challenging. I'll probably give it another try in a few months and see if it has improved, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone right now. The greens were alright but not great. Many had bare patches, and a few had a lot of ball marks. Overall, a nice course in poor condition.
