6:40 tee time. Cold but warmed up nice. Right now the greens are perfect! Just virta cut! Very pure, and this is one of the courses biggest defenses. They have seeded a lot of the tee boxes so most were moved up! P of P here can be hit or miss, lots of carts, mixed with walkers. Greens are tough to read for most and takes most groups longer to finish but that's the beauty of Wilson. Some bunkers were super firm, others we're fluffy. They are punching next month so Now is the time to enjoy! Go Play!!

Played early on Sunday, 2/27. Starters were efficient and pleasant. The driving range was open but the short game area was under construction. Still have a food truck as they are doing an eternal remodel of the clubhouse. It was not open pre-7:00 am when we teed off. Pace of play was relatively poor at 4.5 hours. A group several ahead of us was slow and groups bunched behind it. First time in a long time I have played early here in over 4 hours.

The course is in decent shape. The greens were in very good shape, running pretty fast with few wobbles. Pins were in some difficult places. I do not recall ever playing here with so many double breaks. The fairways were only okay, still winter thin. The rough was hit and miss and I missed quite a bit. They were working on several tees so those holes played shorter than usual. No. 4 was at the bottom of the hill making it a five iron-wedge par 4. No. 6 was in front of the drainage area taking a ton of yardage and interest off the hole. No. 3 had the back tee being worked on but it still played 188 yds to a back left pin, so still plenty of meat on that bone.

Pleasant day out there though. The half way house had pre-made burritos after No. 10. Really chilly in the morning but beautiful after the third hole. I will be back.

Played out here on a Friday afternoon. First time or here even though it's right across the freeway from where I work. Location is great right in the middle of Griffith Park.

Start off up high and first couple holes are downhill. Most of the course is pretty flat until the end where you're going back up hill to the club house.

Played from the blacks. Tee boxes were mostly flat. Always a good place to tee off from. Fairways looked good mostly covered in grass. Definitely not flat though. The cart felt like it took a beating even when driving on the fairway. Rough is generally covered but not much longer than longer than the fairway. Definitely not penal. Didn't hit the sand, but fairway bunkers looked lousy. Some not recovered from the rain 3-4 weeks ago. Green side they looked maintained at least. Greens were probably the highlight. Pretty large, started off quick. Slowed down as it got dark and cooler. Looked like they were punched maybe a month ago?

A lot of bays at the driving range but most bays are irons only. Putting greens played true to the course.

Not a whole lot of waiting. Played as a threesome behind a 4. The pair behind us was constantly hitting into us even though we were waiting for the next group. Finished 14 holes in about 3 hours. No complaints about pace of play.

Saturday morning tee time at 8:40, Wilson course, 10/16/21, started out to be nice and cool in the morning, but it warmed up quickly to about high 80s and sunny. It has been a long time since I have played here at Wilson course with some very good playing conditions. I mean the greens were rolling quite fast and smooth with the exception of a few ball divots that were not fixed properly. But still one of the best conditioning I have ever seen this course in a long time. It seems as though they really take good care of the course in preparation this time of year. Just about everything else- the whole course is in good condition for play. The bunkers have sand- although I wasn’t in it, it probably were inconsistent and there were still unraked foot prints. The fairways were closely mowed and had some run which was nice. I have nothing no knock except the course ran out of sand to fill the bottle so I’m sure there will be some unfilled divots out there until they provide sand on their carts. The carts have GPS though. The roughs were healthy and some areas were penalizing, but most were not bad at all. The teeing grounds were not bad. It wasn’t all lush but there’s plenty of grass coverage. The pace was not good. It took about 5 hours for the round. The staff were welcoming and helpful to provide tees, cards, and all other information for the day. I’d gladly play here again soon.

Played 9/27 and it looks like Wilson didn't do a full aeration of the greens but it looks like they DID punch the greens over the weekend. I don't know what they call it but they are mini-punched but not sanded over. They definitely abnormally affect the the speed and lines of putts. Other than that, Wilson conditions are pretty good. I'd expect that it will take a week or two to heal up and get back to normal.

Got back out to Wilson on Sunday late afternoon with three friends and a 2:05pm tee time. We rode from the blue tees on a very hot afternoon but pleasantly surprised to see the nice green fairways and mostly favorable conditions around the course.

Check-in is still a bit laborious as you have to wait to be called into the starter's office, but you can use the two-tiered driving range behind it and purchase range balls directly from the machine with cash or credit/debit card. The practice putting greens are also open again which is nice, but still no restaurant but instead a food truck, tent and tables adjacent to the first hole tee box.

As previously mentioned, the course looks quite green right now despite the hot temperatures, so you're going to find lots of nice spots in the fairways, but off to the sides it can thin out and there can be some very thin or dry areas amongst the numerous trees lining the layout. The bunkers were just okay but the tee boxes are a shaggy mess that will definitely bring down the overall rating for the course. They are not mowed down or manicured in the least so it's disappointing for sure.

Greens are in good shape and rolling medium-fast with good coverage and holding shots well. Nothing too tricked out at Wilson on the greens, but definitely some holes where you'll prefer to keep your putts below the hole. Ball marks prevalent as well so fix as many as you can.

POP was a bit slow but I think that had more to do with some of the players in our group. We had the group behind us pretty close all afternoon and a plethora of wayward balls throughout the day meant we spent a lot of time looking for potentially lost balls. We did however always seem to catch the group in front of us every few holes so it was strange, but overall it took just over five hours to finish the round - not too terrible for a busy Sunday in Griffith Park.

Cart girl also came by 2-3x throughout the round so that was good. Snack shop at the turn has everything you need and was thankfully open even as we got there in the late afternoon. Overall not a great day for my scorecard but the course itself is in proper shape and wouldn't be a horrible place for you to spend an afternoon.

Wilson one of my favorites, and it's in good condition. For the zillion rounds played on it, amazingly good shape.

Check in, they call you about 10-15 minutes before tee time. They don't want people crowding the tee boxes. 10 minute tee times. Hope they stick with this... All good. Carts decent GPS & Bluetooth speakers.

Tee boxes; Good coverage, pretty level.

Fairways are very good, occasional thin spots, but overall lush & great to hit from.

Rough a mixed bag, some gopher areas, some bare, some taller rough that was tough to hit from.

Greens; Fantastic. Med fast. Healed up from punching over a month ago.

POP; 4.15. Quickest round in memory up here. 10 minute Tee times work!!

Restaurant still closed, but have Food Truck & Tent. Halfway snack shop is open. No drink cart on this muni.

Overall, a great time on a wonderful track.

I was invited to play Wilson this morning at Griffith Park on beautiful and a little breezy Sunday morning. I had not played here in the last ten years and it brought back a lot of good memories. The course is in overall good shape with tee boxes level and in good shape. Fairways had good coverage and green but if strayed off the fairways there were a lot of golpher holes which made it tough to find at times. Didn’t see any rakes but bunkers had good coverage and were good to play from. Wilson’s greens are often mounded or two tiered and you need to put the ball in the right place, but they rolled true and rolled were you aimed it at. The restaurant is still closed but they have a food truck and many places to sit and eat or have a drink after the round. Had a great day and thanks to Chris and Gus for the invite, definitely recommended.

Played 5/3/2021 The course was in good shape. The greens rolled true but a little slow since they punched them a few weeks ago and are letting them grow a little. One thing to know is that the range is closed on Mondays. The pace of play was good teed off at 7:25 am and was done by 11:10 am. They are doing work to the clubhouse so no restrooms they have portapotties.
