Visited the driving range today. Glad to see they have cleaned things up and removed all restrictions that had been imposed. Excellent automated system in place. $8 for 45 and they also have rates for 100 as well as Sr rates Monday through Thursday. Very comfortable set up at each station. They have also put in a time restriction of one hour during the weekends, to make spaces more readily available. Good idea because the place was very crowded. Grabbed some coffee and food (very high prices) afterwards in the cafe under the covered patio. Excellent customer service at all levels. And Mike the club repairer is still in operation and does excellent work. Did not use the 9 hole course but it appeared very busy.

My first choice today was Montebello. But the new mgmt group has changed things around. No more early 10:30 AM twilight. It now starts at 2 PM. The two young men working there are either clueless to the needs of a single golfer? Or they are just clueless and we will leave it at that. I won't be going back. I even tried to speak to the City Hall Rec Dept? Closed until March 30??? So on too Monterey Park Golf Course. The driving range is open. The retail store is open and the course is open. Most crowded I have seen it in all the times I have played there. Excellent customer service. Course was in good shape. Had been mowed and was very dried out. As many already know, you hit off matts. But that is fine. Greens were clean and putted very well. And enjoyable walk in the sunshine while playing some golf. I did confirm that Los Amigos is open, Industry Hills is open and Rio Hondo is open. But I certainly would call ahead, given the unstable nature of things around us.

Went to use the range today. Clean and totally automatic, makes for an enjoyable experience. As I saw no one on the course, decided to play a quick 9. Found the 2 Par 4 (1,9) fairways to be green with good lies and the whole course green and lush. Like the par 3's, as they are of different yardages and elevation changes. Makes for a more enjoyable game and challenge. Tees are matts and in excellent condition. Greens are small with undulations/slopes. They had good speed and provided a good test to the putting game. Nice area to grab food/drink after the round. Well stocked pro shop as well. An enjoyable course to work on all aspects of the game, IMO.

Stopped by Tuesday afternoon to hit a small "bucket" (automated tees) and play a quick round at the 9-hole executive. There is a lot of detail in the thread about this course so this is just a quick update. They keep this course in very good shape. Tees are matts, so they are tight and level. The fairways are well grown in and lush, as are the intermediate areas between tee and green on the par threes. Same for the rough and areas around the greens. One green — the eighth, I believe — was suffering from some funky patchiness and bare spots, but the rest of the greens were in very good shape. They are deceptively speedy and, given some of the slope on many of the greens, about as fast as you would reasonably want them. Overall, a very well kept and reasonably priced facility with a challenging and well maintained short course.

Stopped yesterday to use the range. Ended up playing the 9 hole course as well. Course is in very nice shape. You can see that they recently did the greens, but they putted extremely well. Love the range, the course is a fun test of ones iron game and the little restaurant there has some good food. Enjoyable golf facility to work on parts of ones game.

The two par 4 fairways were lush and clean. Customer service was excellent. Great snack bar after 9. Very enjoyable 9 hole course, due to the variety of the holes. Highly recommended. And if you only want to use a driving range, this one is automated and fantastic.

This will be a long review for a short course. Check the GK site for this course because the review that precedes this one — 24hourgolf posted a review on 8/25/16 — pretty fully describes the facilities. I'd seen this place from the freeway and recently have been doing some work a stones throw from it so, based on curiosity and his review, I decided to try it yesterday rather than head home in peak traffic. I was very pleasantly surprised and will limit my comments to the course. Nine holes, mainly par 3's with opening and closing par 4s. The conditions are lush and green. The place is really on a hillside, so there is a lot of altitude change on some of the holes as the course meanders around. Fortunately that translates into uphill and downhill approaches, vs. sidehill lies. The tee boxes are mats, but as such they are some of the best mat hitting surfaces I've seen. They are very flat and tight, but not hard, beat up or overly worn, and I think the hitting surface works pretty true in lieu of grass. The fairways on the par 4s and lead-up areas on the par 3s are very nice and healthy. The green complexes are pretty nice: good bunkering, nice surrounding grass for chipping and pitching, and the putting surfaces were very receptive, pretty clean, and putted quicker than expected (medium fast). They generally have some slope or waffle to them that makes them challenging, and frequently there will be some kind of fall-off on at least one side of the green to exaggerate the penalty of missing the green on that side. Sometimes there is a high side opposite the fall-off that will feed the ball in. The course is well lit, so night play is an option. I started before sunset and finished at dusk and the lights kicked in on the last couple of holes. Along with the double decker range and food and drink options, there is a covered patio deck area near the first tee that gives it a nice hang-out spot. If you need a fix, don't have time for a regulation nine or 18, and want to work mainly on those approach distances and short game, this place is a quality set up. Fast food for your golf appetite, (or maybe Tapas). I really enjoyed it and I know I'll pop by again.

Played here today and totally enjoyed the experience. They have put a lot of money into this facility and it shows. 2 tiered (automatic) driving range (beautiful and inexpensive). Club repair on facility (great work great prices). A fully stocked (and I mean stocked) golf shop. A really wonderful and enjoyable 9 hole par 3 (all walking). And the course is in great shape from tee (all mats and in good shape) to green (greens are great) including large bunkers with great sand (yep found one). Had great lies in both of the par 4's and areas around the greens (for those who miss the green :) in wonderful shape. Well taken care of course and it shows. A great little diner, with a great selection of food/beer and reasonably priced. Wonderful staff at all levels. Not to mention the 2 restaurants (one steak the other Mexican) adjacent to the facility. I will frequent this place as often as I can (if for no other reason than the great food). Also very easy access off/on 710 from either the 60 or 10. Check it out.

It's been a while since I've last played here but decided to deviate from my normal track this week. First off, the starter had me waiting about an hour. While waiting, I saw several groups of three tee off, he must have forgotten I was waiting or something...bad start. The course shape is pretty much the same, fairly lush, narrow mature tree lined parallel fairways, length off the tee is not necessary to score. The greens were the biggest problem. I thought they would be in much better shape after their aeration last month. Still very bumpy and with various speeds on each different green. Otherwise it's a decent morning round. Best thing was the company I was paired up with and there's a ton a great places nearby for lunch.
