Morning tee time at DMGC today. Covid 19 precautions in place, allowing walk up singles. The course was in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways and rough have very good coverage. The rough actually had some bite to it and really had to work at advancing the ball. Traps were well groomed but no rakes. The greens were lush and smooth running at medium speed. Two things that were wrong with the greens is that there were no pins so you had no idea where the cups were located. The other thing is the amount of unfixed ball marks, I have noticed this at other courses since things have opened up. Tee times are spaced by 12 minutes and POP was a tick under four hours. Basic golf with very good conditions.

Looking for somewhere to get out early, which would be affordable, walkable, and not too far away. Dad Miller fit the bill. 6:08am tee time. ( Second group out) A thank you to that first group for setting a nice POP, our threesome walking finished in 2 hours 50 minutes, without hardly ever waiting.

Course is in decent condition. Greens were good, but because NONE were mowed, they were very slow, I think they might have been reasonably quick had they been cut ? For the most part the fairways, tee boxes and bunkers were OK. Some iffy areas in the rough..

Not the greatest course, but for $23, easy access, and quick POP, if all you're looking for is some basic golf, I recommend Dad Miller.

Played Fri Aug 2nd, had a 704 tee time and got out on time. I drive from norco so I got to the course just as they opened up the parking lot, sat and read my book for an hour and there were allot of early walkers. Check in was efficient and starter was friendly. Course was in decent shape, level lies on tee boxes, fairways were green with just a few brown spots, looked like over watering. Bunkers were decent, greens very receptive, always a ball mark to repair. It has been 364 days since I played here last, this course was fun but just not on our schedule. The price was good at $23 walking and the price of the restaurant is nice, not expensive.

I checked and it had been 10 years since I last played here. I had a 6:00am tee time, which was the fourth group off, so I had some concerns about pace of play, but as it turned out, my fears were not warranted. Out walking threesome played without any waiting in just a touch over three hours. (Nobody behind us so we just maintained a nice easy pace) Check in was efficient and the starter made certain everything went off as scheduled.

Course was in much better condition than expected, in fact the greens were some of the best I've played. Fairways also very good, bunkers had lots of sand and were for the most part well maintained. Rough was just OK.

I enjoyed the course more than I remembered. (Maybe it's because I'm old now and the holes present a greater challenge than they did back when.) Yeah there are a few short par four holes, but there are also some legit par 4 holes as well. $21 was a great price, so I am certain it will not be 10 tens until I return. A very pleasant enjoyable round of golf, which is about all I need nowdays

Was in the area and walked on to Dad Miller at 10am. First tee was open and not many players on putting green. Checked in and sent to first tee to join a three some. Got to the third hole and play came to a stop, have never seen three groups stacked up #5. The rest of the day was very slow. Tees were level with many different types of grass growing, fairways start off with dried out areas and numerous gopher holes need to watch your step. Rough had good coverage. Greens have sprouts of kikuyu spread through the greens, on #1 had to pull one out because it was so tall. Greens had poorly repaired ball marks, which is not the fault of the course. Temp green on #11, 78 yards and in a weird place. POP on Tuesday was over five hours and hard to keep a rhythm going.

Played Fri Aug 3rd at 704, had a good breakfast at 6am at a real good price and friendly service. Starter was friendly. I haven't played here in almost 2 years as I live in Norco and it is a bit of a drive for a shorter course. My friend told me he thought it was dried out, well I read the review here and agree with allot of it. The course was anything but dried out. Level spots on all tee boxes, fairways good grass and really soggy in spots, rought was on the longer side and wet, had to hunt for balls. The first green had all kind of bumps and tires tracks from the mower and freeked me out, i tought it would be slow and ran the ball way past and started with a 3 putt, after that I thought the greens were in good shape and roll nice and true, they rolled a littoe faster than expected. I ended up with 27 putts so I must had like them. POP was just under 4 hours, waited on the first few holes but good afterwards we were a 4 some walking. Nice course to walk and at $21 senior walking good price. The secret of this course is to be straight and since it is not that long stay away from clubs you hook, like fairway woods from the deck. I hope our group come back sooner than 2 years.

Facility is very nice clean restrooms, well stocked pro shop with very friendly and efficient staff, and a small restaurant. (we didn’t partake, but can get a draft beer for a buck with your starter receipt). We checked in at 7am, picked up our cart and range ball certificates.
The driving range is across the street adjacent to the 11th tee box. Driving range is in good condition, hitting off of mats with a good number of targets to aim at. Our only problem was with my playing partners certificate. The ball machine would not accept the #4. We split my bucket and warmed up. The chipping and pitching area located by the driving range well the putting green is located near the club house. My only complaint is with the chipping area as the simulated green is not mown like the greens meaning you don’t get representative rollout during practice. The practice putting greens are perfect.
The carts are nice, and feature GPS. The GPS is unique in that it controls the cart. We turned incorrectly up a sidewalk and the GPS put the cart in .5 mph limp mode and posted a warning. Crossing fairway past the green (there was not cart waring sign) from a shot to the opposite fairway, the cart actually stopped until we backed up and then changed course.
Rest areas. The course has well placed bathrooms however they are protected by keypad locks. We happen to be playing with a marshal on his day off, and he had the code, but that could have been a problem otherwise. You would think during playing hours they would be unlocked. The GPS accuracy was excellent. The only drinking water on the course were water fountains located near the restrooms. We did not see a hospitality cart during the round, however a marshal with a large jug of ice water made several stops to offer us cold water during the round on a day when the afternoon temperature reached over 95 degrees.
Tee boxes were mostly level with a couple of exceptions, with good footing and lush coverage. We played form the blues giving the course a distance of 5,892 yards.
Fairways were mostly lush and green with a few lush brown spots. Truly bare spots were rare. There were numerous wet, soppy and even muddy areas along the sides of the fairways. There was a significant amount of maintenance being done to the course, mowing, watering, etc. The water only affected me twice and I took relief. The primary defense of this course are trees and dog legs. The course plays longer than the stated length would imply. The moister of the fairways, and irrigation of the greens meant there was little rollout from tee shots.

Rough for the most part it was dry, however this among the hardest rough I have played in Southern California. Between 3” and 4” deep, it is sticky, holding onto the ball. Very penal, prevalent, with few thin areas.

Greens were near perfect except for the occasional unrepaired divot mark. Fast putting surface combined with slope and tilt and you have an exciting match.

Bunkers. I wasn’t in a bunker, the deep rough was bad enough, I am glad I missed testing the bunkers. They looked well filled with quality sand.

For me $40 is a higher than average green fee. Dad Miller was worth cost. Great playing conditions, a challenging course that has the lore of having served as Tigers home course well in High School, who’s TGR center is next door too.
Dad Miller was voted Course of the Year by the golf course association. Well done.

Early tee time at Dads today. Check in and first tee very organized. Tee boxes were pushed up with a sign in the pro shop stating to play the markers due to course maintenance. Fairways had good coverage, the problem is that walking off the tee box and before you reached the fairway the ground was filled with gopher holes. Also in the rough there were gopher holes need to be careful not to twist an ankle.
Greens were in very good shape with little divot damage. Greens rolled nicely and were firm. Traps were ok and well groomed. Lots of workers on the course from tree trimmers to greens keepers. Really need to inspect the bridges on the back nine, they have seen better days. POP was a tad under four hours. Early birds play at a good pace.
