Played 01/30/17 Sunday with Tustin Ranch member as a 3 some, teed off at 12:15. POP 5 hrs. Tee boxes seemed pretty beat up, dormant grass, lots of divots. Fairways dormant, you got your share of lies, perfect to playing off hard pan. Greens were in really good shape, somewhat firm, held iron shots, putted pretty true (lots of divots, I repaired 3-4 per green). All in all the layout was ok, no way I would ever pay the full rate ($111) at the Ranch.

BDay Special! could not really give up the opportunity to play at one of the most expensive public golf course in Orange County at half the cost...Im in
736am Tee time; Checking in was as expected with great customer services; especially when tee time cost about $150 per 18 .... it was nice indeed.
House rules.... we had to start on the Back9 first, then Front9..Odd, I thought, but it really doesnt matter to me. To my surprise, TR is not really all that, tee boxes were nice and clean, fairways and roughs could really need some works, i was disappointed to find such conditions here at TR, greens however were great, did not like the fact that on some holes I walk along the sidewalk of Tustin Ranch Rd while other holes I was greeted by people looking out their bedroom windows; so much for being "Private". It is no different than David L Baker for the most part.
Overall, it was a decent course. I will not pay the regular rate, for sure. will definitely comeback on Bdays....

Played Bday (not me) round on Fri 4/22. I hadn't played TR for a while. The condition of the course was a mixed bag. I think the drought and water restriction is having an impact on TR. I saw more bare spots on the fairway than I have seen in the past. For TR standard and considering the rack rate of the course, that was disappointing. The rough and sands were okay. The good part is the greens. TR has one of the best green conditions among the courses in the area in my opinion. Greens are fast and kept well. They have lots of undulation - and hence very difficult. POP was around 4.5 hrs.
BDay deal for the BDay person gives free golf, range balls, and lunch. This deal is really good. And the food in the restaurant is awesome. My BDay friend got prime rib for free.
Would I play TR at rack rate? Probably not, cause I can't afford it. But, I would definitely take advantage of their BDay deal.

Played Saturday 2/6 black tees @ 11:45 with 2 buddies of mine. Weather low 80's, POP 4 1/2 hours max. I guess The Ranch is being squeezed by the city of Tustin with water restrictions. No over seeding this year, the fairways are burnt to a crisp, I'm talking rock hard fairways. Great for your ego, my drives were running like crazy, made the course play way shorter. Never ever played on fairways that hard. Now for the good, greens in excellent shape, rolled really nice, even with the late tee time. A few heel marks, ball marks but that seems to normal at any public track. Rough inconsistent, the height differed on every hole, areas that they watered equaled grass, everywhere else, crunchy burnt out grass. I'd stay away the Ranch untill the dormant fairways come back, on a scale of 1 to 10 I'll give it a 7, only because of the greens.

Played Christmas morning because that's when my birthday is, so felt compelled to take advantage of their birthday special. I took the cart not so much because it was included, but wanted to get around quick and get home so the "boss" would be not so unhappy about my being away Christmas morning. I guess because I wasn't walking, I just never got warm or loose ! It felt really cold for the entire round ! The greens, which were cut rolled nicely, but I only had about 1/2 of them cut. Fairways were generally good, but areas were thin. The bunkers however were the best I have seen anywhere ! Beautiful white fluffy sand. I wish Coto had that kind of sand! It was a pleasure to hit the bunkers, which I know sounds ridiculous, but it's fun to play from perfect sand and hear that "woosh" when you explode out. The staff and everyone there was terrific. Didn't use the range or free lunch, but for $40 is was worth every cent. Merry Christmas to everyone !!

I teed off Monday at around 11:45 for my birthday round. They charged me $40 to ride, but that included range balls and anything I wanted from the restaurant menu. I ordered the prime rib, so it turned out to be a very good deal. As for the course, I really like the friendly layout and the challenging greens. I would play here often if the green fees were lower. Course conditions were good, but not perfect. Good coverage in the fairways and rough, but not nearly as lush as in the past. Teeing areas good. Bunkers great. The greens were fun, as usual, though not lightning fast or smooth as they can be. I had to fix many ball marks throughout the round, and the sixteenth green had been recently punched. Pace of play was about 4 1/2 hours. Service was great, in keeping with a higher-end golf course. I like this place, though it may be a year before I can afford to come back.

Played at Tustin Ranch yesterday with a couple of friends. POP was decent at 4 hours. We teed off at 2 p.m. and finished right at 6 with just a few minutes of sunlight left.

Greens were medium-fast and tough to read at times. Pin placements were challenging but not too crazy. I think they may be punching soon though as other courses around here are doing the same.

Bunkers were probably the nicest bunkers i've played from in the last year. Nice white fluffy sand that was very predictable to hit out of.

It was a good deal for us as the round came free with lessons that I'm taking at Tustin Ranch. The 6 min drive to the course helps too! I'll probably be playing here more.

A friend reached out to me to join up as a last-minute player replacement for a tournament here this afternoon. It was free for me, so I couldn't pass that up! Modified scramble format with a large group, so pace was slow but not too bad.

The course was in solid condition overall. The greens were great, very soft and rolling smooth at medium speeds. Definitely slower than usual here, probably softened up a bit by the rain. The tee boxes were fine. The fairways were okay. Felt a bit worn out. Somewhat dry bermuda turf, but without that fluffy/thatchy layer on top. Kind of firm underneath, but playable enough. Rough had good coverage—cut low and not much of a factor. We didn't play from any bunkers, but they looked amazing with soft white sand and the rakes here are still the best in the biz!

I never pass up a decent deal to play Tustin Ranch, but will never pay rack here. Fine course and conveniently located for me, but I just couldn't imagine paying that much for it. Love the birthday deals and today for free was extra cool, though.

Played the Ranch on 7/29 @ 10:35 as a twosome, black tees. Overall condition of the course was really good. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were pure, bunkers now have blinding white sand since the renovation (4th hole tee box has been completely rebuilt and sodded). There are some spots off the fairway were the rough can be pretty penal, I happened to find a few of these spots. Greens were firm, rolled very true, medium fast speed, ball held its line nicely. All in all no complaints, POP just over 4 hours.
