Played Yesterday early morning (it was cold). Fairways still a little damp from previous rains and the recent cold weather we have been having. It just seems that the fairways just do not want to dry up, we need Sun and lots of it. Ball rolling okay but still a little muddy in some places. . Greens were the best part of the Course but still a few bunkers without enough sand to have a decent out. Overall the Course was not that bad for the price we paid ($35 bucks).

I teed off at about 10:30 on Tuesday. They have a great deal for seniors, and I gladly took advantage of the deal on a perfect, sunny day.

I teed off at about 10:30 on Tuesday. They have a great deal for seniors, and I gladly took advantage of the deal on a perfect, sunny day.

Course conditions were pretty solid, all around, with the greens being the highlight of the course. The greens were smooth, with few ball marks and medium speed. Tee boxes, fairways, and rough were all in nice shape. If I had to whine about something, I'd say that there needs to be a little more sand in the bottom of the bunkers.

In any case, I love the layout here and I'll definitely be playing here more frequently with the very fair weekday green fees.

Played New Years Day (morning). It was Cart Path Only (CPO) but players were diving their carts on the fairways anyway with the Marshal around and not saying anything to the players so we also went ahead and joined everyone else. Fairways still a little soggy in places, Greens were not was I expected, they were fast and bumpy and very moist due to the heavy rains past. Customer Service was fast and quick and only $45 bucks for a Online deal. Was a great way to start the New Year.

Played out with my regular Saturday group at LS South. Haven’t been able to play with my group for a while but it was good to get out. Had 7:30 time and we usually walk which as a player’s card member, paid $54. Pretty cold morning but walking helps to warm up quicker and it eventually turned out to be a nice day.

Course surprisingly is in pretty good shape. I say surprisingly because I fully expected more dormant areas. Fairways were in pretty good shape and the lies were great . Some thin areas but not many. The rough was thick but very playable. Further off the fairway and you got hard pan. Not good. I was in a couple of bunkers and the sand was excellent.

The greens were smooth, rolling very nicely and holding. Even long irons or hybrids would easily hold.

Both courses here at Los Serranos get a lot of play its nice to see it remain in good condition as we approach the winter months. Thumbs up! Looking forward to playing the North course soon.

Played Tues dec10th, called in for north but a mix up and they put us on the south. Cold morning 41 degrees, very wet and damp and then it was cart path only. This made for a rough first few hole. POP was 412 and that is because of CPO. When you walked the first fairway you knew why CPO, course was soaked, even walking was difficult. Tee boxes were ok, they even look like they are leveling out #9, traps were surpsingly fairly good with decent sand, only one was a hard mess. Greens rolled nice and we had ball marks to repair, the bummer is my friend left his 8 iron someplace, hope it will get returned to the shop. The restaurant is starting to have breakfast and lunch specials again and this was beef stur fry and was really good. Nice to see again.

Played Friday the 6th. Course wasn't too bad. Soggy conditions was to be expected and so it was, especially around the greens and some fairways on some holes. Greens were soft due to the rains but rolled decent enough to have a fair shot at the hole. Tee boxes were okay and some of the bunkers had standing water and were muddy. I would say that the Southside was 80 percent playable. There you go players "know before you go"

Played this morning on the South side. My birthday is tomorrow so I decided to use my birthday round today. Fairways are in fair condition with very little roll due to the dampness in the morning. The greens are starting to need some serious work because of very soggy conditions. With all the traffic on the greens it seems the that ball is bouncing a lot. Tee boxes are fair and I notice some of the bunkers on the South are in need of Sand. The Course did get new mats for the driving range as well as much needed new range balls. Dining area has great "Salads" so maybe you can try one next time you play L.S. So there you go" Know before you go".

Was able to book a tee time for my buddy and myself at 11:14 for $49, which I felt was a good deal. We were paired with Yuna, a high school age young lady who could really crush the ball. Yuna rode with her father who, although dressed ready to play, did not as this round was dedicated to preparing for an upcoming CIF qualifying event. The course was very busy as usual, and being that we were a threesome amongst mostly foursomes( and on more than one occasion I'd seen more than that!), so we waited on a few holes, but never more than a couple minutes. That being said, I'd have to say, pace of play wasn't smooth nonstop play through the round, but never had to wait long enough to be bothered.
The course was heavily watered, no dry spots within the fairways. There were several oversaturated areas spread throughout the course. While I didn't encounter any dry or hardpan areas, I did have a couple lies that were pretty thin for as close to the green as they were. Also, a couple small areas staked and roped off on outside edges of a few fairways.
The rough here is not seeing much water, the further you stray from the fairway the higher the odds you'll be hitting off dirt and/or wood chips. The rough adjacent to the fairways was most often not very dense and about an inch and a half deep. Not a drastic club difference, but enough to make you double check your shot approach.
As for the bunkers, I didn't land in one the entire round, surprisingly enough! And so of course if I don't have to play out of any I don't pay any attention to them whatsoever, lol. I walk by them as if they aren't there, mostly because I don't need any bad thoughts, lol. Seriously, the couple I had to glance at while chipping over, looked nice and playable. Far better than average for the area, in my opinion.
In finality, the greens which were quite bumpy the last time I was here, were more in line with what I expect from a course like LS South. They were fairly smooth, and actually better than what I would have expected considering I was passing through most greens after 12 o'clock. Putts held their lines very well and I'd have to guess about a 10 on the Stimp meter, which was a little surprising considering how smooth the greens looked. All of us at one point or several, either left putts short or didn't have enough speed to carry a break that was correctly read. Greens were also every receptive to well struck shots, hitting the ground with minimal rollout, even on some chips when you needed a few feet. Easy pin placements, conditions forcing you to play an aggressive short game in order to score well.
In addition before finishing, big fan of LS's practice areas. Practice greens seemed a touch quicker than on course greens. Side note, in the several years I've frequented LS, this was the first time I'd hit off mats on their range.
All in all a very enjoyable round at a very efficiently run facility. I'm sure I'll be back very soon.

Played LS South on 9/30. Pretty much standard LS conditions - good greens, good FWs, rough is sometimes fine, sometimes barren. Played early, and the greens were bumpy due to the soft damp conditions and a couple of players in front of us that left deep footprints on the green and liked to drive their cart to the edge of every green. Perhaps they had a physical limitation, although it sure didn't look like it to us. Regardless, LS remains one of my favorite go to locations when I want affordable golf.

Really at the top of the class for affordable public courses in the LA area.
