Played here on 7/6/14 @ 1:08pm. Pd $52.00 via their online booking. GK match play with dconnelly. rstang06 and rat-patrol joined in on the fun, sunny, bright and breezy afternoon. Clubhouse/Pro Shop are 'Top Notch'. Smaller driving range area typically off mats (but guess they were off grass today), with nearby bunker/chipping/putting areas. Starter is ALWAYS soooooo pleasant and helpful -- Best part of the day (w/exception of my fellow GKers ;) Golf carts are not equipped with a GPS system; just the bare bones, but they certainly have some get up and go!! Tee boxes were in great shape. Some of the Red tee boxes were a little shaggy and in need of mowing, but overall level and no major divot damage. Fairways were the best we've seen out of the other times we've played here before. They rolled out quite a way as they were a little dry and cut short - nice and very playable!! Most fairway divots were filled in with seed mix. Water stations throughout. Bunkers were almost the most disappointing facet of this course. Other than folks obviously showing no regard for raking up after themselves, the sand was quite compact and crusty around the sides, with rocks mixed in. Most disappointing (in my opinion) were the greens. Don't think I've ever played this course with greens in anything higher than a 'fair' to 'dismal' condition (mainly why I don't play it often). Very frustrating to see the amount of unrepaired/poorly repaired ball marks and cleat/scuff marks. Not only visually disappointing, but difficult to get a true, smooth reliable roll to the cup. (didn't help today that my putting game was off - but not a factor in my ranking of these greens). The course layout overall is very scenic and pleasing. Most fairways slope left to right, with greens back to front. Houses only come into play on about 6 or 7 holes; if you are prone to hook or slice. Rough was very playable with minimal bare/thin areas. Pace of play was fairly leisurely - only pushed once; by a threesome that we let play through on Hole 11 (Par 3), where pin was tucked 'way over to the side' behind the bunker. Some of the pin placements were questionable, and even positions of the tee markers in relation to the trees/bushes growing in the way of your shot from the blues and occasionally on the reds. Ball washers on each hole (only encountered one without a towel - Hole 16)...the blind shot out to a receptive fairway if you keep it toward the left/middle (trouble on the right). Challenging, yet rewarding for the well hit shots. Trash cans on each hole are a little on the smaller size and several were over flowing with spillage on the ground (unsightly). Saw the Marshal once. This course is best played in the morning, but rack rate will grab the thrifty deal seekers toward the later start times, where WIND will typically be a factor to deal with. Cart Girl was pleasant and even zipped right on to the fairway to meet you with a smile and cold beverage. Starter advised course was recently re-rated/scorecards reflect those results. Men's hdcp posted in the cafe area; however, none specifically targeted for the women. Overall though, we enjoyed the course, and the staff were the highlight as usual. With a little attention to the bunkers and greens, I'd certainly rank this course a little higher, and even recommend for a possible GK Event (with a morning start time). ;) Just this novice golfin gals point of view. :) NOTE: I didn't realize my Rated conditions would result in such a low 4.0...if I could edit that I'd probably give it at least a 5.0 to 5.5 (course); and higher for facilities/staff. :) Course is worth a play if in the area.

We had a great day to play with warm, sunny conditions, just enough wind to be factored into club selection, and good conditions at the course. Arrowood is one of my favorites in SD County - I enjoy the variety of holes, the natural setting (not many homes, lots of ESA areas, pleasant sightlines), and the clean look of the design. Conditions were pretty good today - lies in the fairways were good, sand was in good condition in the bottom of bunkers (although thin and crusty on the sides of bunkers, and MANY unraked footprints), tees were level (but needed cutting). Greens were a headscratcher - they looked good, and I thought they putted well and rolled at medium speed, but the trafficed areas around the hole, and many areas toward the center of the greens, were very thin and showed a lot of footprints and spike marks. This was likely the result of playing later in the day. However, many of the spikemarks looked like careless foot-dragging. And there were MANY old and new unrepaired ball marks on all greens - our group probably fixed a dozen every hole, and could have done many more. The margins of the greens looked great and had a lot of turf coverage - it was in the pin areas that the greens really looked beat up. There might have been some kind of tourney going on this morning - several pin positions were really stuffed back in the corners. I was glad to see the plastic fencing off the greens at #16 and #18 - this may only be needed during coot season. Starter was friendly and efficient - we started right on time. Cart girl came around several times. Range was on grass today, and $4 for 40 balls is a good deal. Breakfast burrito in the restaurant is also excellent, and also a good deal at $6. Still highly recommended.

I'll make this short other than to say that we played a foursome in 4 hours, I never had a bad lie all day, and the layout is extremely interesting.

I highly, highly recommend playing Arrowwood right now. If you can find a deal like what we have, all the better, but I would even say that you could pay in the $75-85 range and feel that you got a good value.

Played 5/31 at approx. 10:15am, POP was awesome, just a smudge under 4hours. All Groups were spaced out well. Greens were in nice shape, a few ball marks here and there. Fairways were pretty solid, mostly lush but a few thin areas and hard ground under the thin layer of grass. Rough was lush and not too tall, so that area was very playable. Worst area on the course was the greenside bunkers...wet, thick.....I guess the key (for me anyway) is just play the low bounce LW.....

I really like this course......probably one of my favorite tracks in the area. We had a nice underpar deal and got our 2some for $87.

They have a nice warm up area...grass and mats, today was grass...

I recommend this course highly.

Drove up to Arrowood today for the first time and really enjoyed it. I got a $52 "Hot Deal" on GN. The place was quite empty being Mother's Day (Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's!), on a side note when I passed by Oceanside Muni I thought something was wrong as there were about 15 cars in the parking lot.
Anyways I warmed up and went out by myself and enjoyed a nice leisurely just over 3 hour round.
Tees: all pretty darn nice
Fairways: Very nice, a few dry spots and GUR areas but overall niiiice!
Rough: Minimal off the fairways, but nice thick and lush around the greens
Bunkers: the ones I was in were great (almost holed one from the trap, I do well out of "real" sand!), except the two on the right side of the 17th green that had irrigation pipes laying in them. A kid who was playing behind me said they have been in there for over a year?
Greens: were pretty darn smooth and nice, good shots stuck, not so good not so much
POP: 3:15
Overall a nice course, interesting layout, no quirky holes. If you are in position you can do well, if you get out of position you are scrambling hard! Greens were a bit tricky for me to read, straighter than I kept reading. Except the 4 footer on 18 that curled left!
I will be back for sure for the right price of course.

Played 4/29, Arrowood is not your typical Ted Robinson, Sr. designed course. It's actually playable if the holes are played according to design. Some holes are driveable but strategic bunkering n OB are much in play. No elevated turtleback greens or waterfalls. This course is really fun and attention to target golf will reward low scores. Many severe uphill as well as downhill holes along with Santa Ana winds. It was about 96* surprising for a course that is less than 15 miles from the coast.

I played on Sunday, March 9th for a twilight rate of $55. We were able to finish with ample sunlight remaining. Although I always look forward to playing Arrowood, I would probably be disappointed if I paid the rack rate. The layout of the course is fun but I think the designer could've done better with the par 3's; they all are about the same length and do not have memorable features. In terms of the course conditions, the tee boxes and fairways were all in good shape. The one fairway bunker I was in was rock hard and the one greenside bunker I was in had thin coverage. The greens looked pretty bad but for the most part, they rolled true. I'm not sure what happened but several years ago when I played here more regularly, the conditions were consistently great so the dropoff is disappointing. I saw the cart girl once....which was unfortunate because she was fun to look at. :) All in all, it was a fun outing and I'll be back but maybe not for a few months.

4. Greens were good but bumpy. I think they overwatered the greens as they would leave foot dents when walking.
5. They have local Craft Beer on tap and in bottles :).

With the wind blowing I think hole #16 is the most challenging hole in Southern California.

Played today at 10:45am, first time visiting this course. Course is located in a nice area and contains some pretty nice views. The driving range/practice areas are pretty nice although mats, but good putting and chipping areas. The course condition was really good for winter conditions, lots of uneven lies, but pretty consistent fairways with minimal bad areas. Bunkers were hard packed and/or slightly wet, but manageable with the right wedge in hand.

the only bad part about this course were the greens....they were a sad sad lot to be honest...18 pretty crappy condition greens....fast and nothing rolled true....I saw 3 footers break 3 times in route to the cup.

we had a nice deal for less than $40 per person and It was really worth it. I hope to play this course again in the near future.

Saw the cart gal a couple of times and she was very sweet....:)
