Was in Lodi for an outing and decided to cross this one off the list. Very mixed reviews on golf now, so I didn't know what to expect. I got there at 5PM and it wasn't crowded but they wanted the carts in by 6:30. I paid $30 to ride the front, drop the cart off and walk the back. I think it's $23 to walk after 3PM. Course is an easy walk, flat and tees are close to the previous green. 6,200 or so from the whites, 6,500 blue,6,700 black.
The courses' biggest defense are the tons of trees lining the fairways, hanging over the fairways, and in some cases in the fairways.
The course was in typical muni shape, but I don't remember encountering any bad lies. Very little grass on the tee boxes but no problem with slipping or putting a tee in the ground. The greens looked very shaggy and spongy with some dead spots, however the pins were placed far enough away so it was never an issue, and the greens putted pure at medium speed. I made more than my fair share of up and down chips, so might be my new favorite style of green conditions. Traps were crusty but very playable.
Personally I had a blast! Played with one ball the whole round and hit more trees then I can remember, bythe end of the round the ball looked like Rocky. (Cut my eye mick,cut my eye) I played the front in 45 min and got waved thru twice. Different lady in the pro shop took pity on me and told me I could keep the cart till 7. Played the back in 45 min. The back is the more interesting and challenging of the nines.
It's a quirky course and shape wise it's just so-so. If I lived closer I'd play it every now and then. Definitely not a destination course but if you find yourself in the area its
worth playing. Excellent burger and fries at the restaurant.

First round today with ppark81. We went first off as a twosome around 6:30 and enjoyed a quick 2-hour pace. Price was $29 with a cart. This would be a great walking course, but worth a little extra today for expediency. Just a handful of regulars out there early who didn't mind us jumping ahead. Otherwise, course pretty empty on a Monday morning.

Conditions were decent. Tee boxes fine, on the firm/thin side. Fairways fairly good overall with some inconsistencies and bare spots. Rough more hit and miss, but not too much of a factor. Bunkers were damp and heavy, but the sand was pretty good in them. The greens were just aerated last week and we knew that coming in. They were slow, wet and sandy, but not super bumpy. They had the holes and sand leveled out pretty well and they should be really nice in a few weeks. You can tell they take pretty nice care of the greens here.

This is a fine course. Lots of trees in play and some tricky angles because of many big trees in awkward positions. If you can avoid the trees, the greens aren't too tricky and the layout won't beat you up too much. Not a bad local option and a good value.

Thought I'd give the course a shot since it is a 5 minute drive from my house. Played the morning after Thanksgiving for $52. Overall, this course still needs a ton of work.

Tee boxes are not level with dead spots everywhere. This time of year, with cooler temperatures, this should not be the case. Fairways were in ok shape, with again, more dead spots than expected this time of year. Greens were lush, but soft and slow. Had a difficult time getting a read on speed.

At the cost the course is charging I'd look elsewhere in the Sacramento/Central Valley region.

This course is literally right down the street from me, and I have been avoiding it for years due to a bad customer service experience in the past. I finally broke down and made a tee time for Sunday morning at 9:15 AM to see if things had improved.

Cost: $45 for 18 holes with a cart. Right in the average range for courses in the area for a primetime weekend tee time.

Pro Shop: Well stocked with gear and clothing, but guy behind the counter was not friendly at all. Didn't feel welcome.

Restaurant: Had a quick breakfast sandwich. Acceptable quality, price was $5. Average.

Course Conditions:

Tee Boxes: Terrible. Crabgrass everywhere. Some boxes not level. Grade: D-
Fairways: Average. Some crabgrass in places. Grass is mowed regularly. Grade: B-
Greens: Best Part of the Course. Mature Bent Grass Greens that are in great shape. Grade: A
Rough: Challenging part of the course. Thick rough. Grade B
Challenge: Tight, Long, Mature, Parkland style course. A good change from the usual tracks.

Overall, I'd give a grade of B-. Course itself is ok. I'd be a lot more likely to return if the customer service improved.

Played a few weeks ago and course was in great shape. Not busy at all on a Saturday morning made for a quick round. This course can be challenging due to some very tight tree lined fairways as well as some well placed trees guarding the greens. There is water in play on a few holes but overall not a problem. The greens were in excellent shape and were rolling at about a 10. If you can drive the ball straight you can score very well on this course. Compared to other courses in the area recently this course is better quality than Swenson, cheaper and more challenging than Elkhorn, but not quite as good of quality for the money as the Reserve at Spanos is right now.

Dry Creek Ranch Golf Course is a mature and well established course of older design, but thanks to many of old growth trees,this property makes for an interesting and enjoyable round. The course straddles Highway 99, with holes 11 through 16 on the west side of the freeway with the remainder on the east side, with this location comes a few holes where the road noise might be bothersome to some.

What I enjoyed most were the massive oak trees and other mature tree foliage found on the course. Because of this robust tree growth, a number of fairways would be considered on the narrow side; also there is more than one hole where a single massive oak creates a narrow bottle neck approach shot to the green. However, the course is for all intent and purpose a massive plot of grass divided by trees which boarder/separate one fairway from the other, thus there is forgiveness errant shots.

Playing as a single I was able to walk the entire track in under 4 hours. The overall conditions of the course exceeded my expectations as I thought this might fall more under the municipal category - it does not! The tee boxes were generally level, I did note a few that were a bit on the concave side and though a majority of the boxes were lightly chewed up there was nothing to be alarmed about. The fairways and rough were both cut on the longer side, the number of divots encountered were minimal which was nice. The sand was decent, it didn't seem to be hard pan though I can't give a fair assessment as it had rained earlier in the day and the sand. The two times I built sand castles with my 56, the sand was rather sticky but the ball came out fine. I was pleasantly surprised to find the greens immaculate, the ball rolled true with no weird bouncing or wobbling around, a minimum of ball markings to be concerned with. I was honestly impressed by this, a major plus to say the least.

The service was OK and the facilities are on the antiquated side. Though I visited on a Wednesday afternoon I got the feeling this place wasn't too heavily patronized by the locals, this based on the lack of significant divots on the fairway and ball marks on the greens. However, this course will treat you right and is in far better condition than the much more heavily visited Micke Grove facility in Lodi, come here instead! It might cost a bit more, but for the dollar the quality is far superior, you might come away surprised.

Played Monday afternoon about 2pm. Got out before the high school match. Played as a single and walked right on. $31 and well worth the price with cart.

Lots of dog legs and trees in the middle of the fairways to try and hit around.

Tee boxes were uneven and a little sparce in places. Fairways were fine and they were cutting the rough, which was also uneven.

Greens looked like they had been aerated in the past month. They were slow and bumpy.

This is not a negative review at all. I can see that this is a pretty good track. Pro shop and restaurant were very old and out dated.

This used to be a hidden gem, now it's a decent track, pay for what you get. I used to play here often, and would definitely play again, but not as good as it was 2 years ago. tri tip is still da bomb.

Played early morning. Greens were in excellent shape. Very smooth. Fairways starting to brown, but still in good shape. Sand traps were in nice shape as well.
