Rode the Purple tees (6507/71.2/128) in 4H, 15M as part of the GK Plays. Thanks to John for setting this up and to Desert Willow for having us out. Very well organized by both parties. Played with Daniel, Keith and Kevin, fun group to play with! We all played better on the front and then kinda wilted on the back. Overcast, muggy and calm in the low 100's. Bermuda tees were lush, level and decently maintained for divots. Bermuda fairways were lush and firm, good to play from. Bermuda rough was nice and uniform with good coverage. Semi lush, mowed low and not overly penal. Sand traps were decently maintained considering COVID protocols with good quality sand. Bermuda greens were okay for late summer. Some bare spots around the edges. Medium speed, firm with almost no ball marks. Our group left alot more putts short than long. Chips were the opposite, as the firmness produced more run out. Excellent customer service on every visit here, especially Assistant Pro Cody. Nice GPS on the upgraded carts that have ports for electronics. Excellent all grass driving range with a good chipping area & practice green. With COVID, no on course services, but plenty of ice/water stations on the course. Busy restaurant on site. Fun course, recommended.

Rode the Purple tees (6507/71.2/128) in slightly less than 3H as a single twilight. Sunny, breezy and around 112. Bermuda tees were level, lush and reasonably well maintained for divots. Bermuda fairways are lush and firm, good to play out of. Bermuda rough was nice. Lush, mowed low and not overly penal. Sand traps were well maintained with good quality sand. Bermuda greens were good for middle of the summer. Medium speed, firm and held irons with minor run out. Excellent customer service on every visit here. Nice GPS on the upgraded carts that have ports for electronics. With COVID-19, no on course services, but plenty of ice/water stations on the course. Nice all grass driving range with a good chipping area & practice green. Conditions were pretty good considering the heat, definitely better than Firecliff today. Fun course, recommended.

Early morning 4.5 hour round on a well conditioned course. Staff is top notch as well as the facilities and carts. The tee boxes were all very level with great coverage. The fairways were in excellent shape with fantastic coverage. The rough was a few inches in length and was frustrating to hit shots from (I hit many from it). The bunkers were the best I've had to play from that I can ever remember. The greens were a little dry and the holes were dried out pretty badly and not fair to the golfers. There was very few ball marks on them but somebody in front of our group was dragging their feet on every green. The course is in great shape and I definitely recommend a round or two. Great day at Desert Willow.

Rode the Purple tees (6507/71.2/128) in slightly less than 3H as a single on a GN Hot Deal mid day. The weather was sunny, breezy and around 110. The Bermuda tees were mostly lush but almost all had bare spots mixed in. Level with few divots. The Bermuda fairways are mostly lush and firm with some bare spots. Same for the Bermuda rough, which is mowed low and not overly penal. The sand traps were decently maintained with good quality sand. However, both greenside traps I sampled were thinner than you would prefer. The Bermuda greens were poor. Most have bare areas and they putted slow and bumpy. Best attribute was that they held irons well. Excellent customer service on every visit here. Nice GPS on the carts. Plenty of ice/water stations on the course. No drink cart out in the summer. Nice all grass driving range with a good chipping area & practice green. Conditions are really mediocre for this course. Usually much better, especially the greens. Would only play on a severely discounted green fee.

The Mountain View is definitely less demanding off the tee than Firecliff 18. There was a little disappointment with the greens today. They were a little dried out and hard. But I must admit the ball rolled surprisingly true. The rest of the course is in great shape. I was taking many large divots in the fairway and had to use a lot of sand for repairs. The club really can dig out here. Or was it my overly steep angle of attack. Yep, I need a swing lesson.

Part 2 - Mountain View

Our second 18 as part of an annual get together with some CU college friends was on the Mountain View Course. We finished the first 18 on the Firecliff Course around 12:15pm for a 4:15 pace. Then stopped to cool down (it was close to 100 degrees from rare heatwave the area was getting this week), had a delicious lunch on the patio, then teed off around 2:00pm. The break time was perfect.

As for the conditions, Mountain View was the first to be overseeded so it had some more Bermuda grass mixed in with the rye grass on the greens. Hence we found the greens to be more firm and faster. Once adjusted I felt the greens on the Mountain View Course were even better. The were fast, firm and smooth. The fairways lush full coverage groomed. Rough slightly higher than the fairways with full coverage and lush. The bunkers with a different kind of sand, more standard texture sand compared to the thinker heavier sand on Firecliff was in very good conditions. The tee boxes level, lush and immaculate. Fantastic shape.

Amazing clubhouse and practice facilities. Exceptional service.

Can’t wait to play again.

Rode the Purple tees (6507/71.2/128) in 4H, 20 twilight using Forelinx. Paired with Laura, Susan and Emmie, fun group to play with. The weather was clear, fairly calm and around 75. Playing conditions were excellent bording on immaculate across the board. The tees were very nice. Lush and level with few divots. The fairways are lush, firm and really nice to play from. The rough is lush and mowed down. Good POP rough, not overly penal. Really nice to chip from. The waste bunkers were firm and not as well maintained as the greenside traps. The greenside traps had good quality sand and were nicely maintained. The greens putted medium fast and were smooth and firm. This course would be challenging to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. Customer Service always excellent here from when you drop your clubs off out front to when you pick them up out front. Drink cart out making the rounds several times. Good GPS on carts. Plenty of ice/water stations on the course. The all grass driving range is included and above average. Nice practice chipping area. Highly recommended, very under rated course in the Palm Springs area.

The Bermuda tees were lush and nice to play from. Level with few divots. The Bermuda fairways are mostly lush and firm. Same for the Bermuda rough, which is mowed low. The sand traps were nicely maintained with thick sand. The Bermuda greens putted medium fast speed and were firm. However, too many ball marks! Excellent customer service on every visit here. Nice GPS on carts. Drink cart out making numerous rounds this afternoon. Normally a nice all grass driving range with a good chipping area & practice green, but currently closed for over seeding. Course is in really solid shape for just before over seeding. Recommended.

The Bermuda tees were lush and nice to play from. Level with few divots. The Bermuda fairways were lush. The Bermuda rough was mowed low, is lush and generally good to play from. Good thing it's low, because it is thick Bermuda. The sand traps were decently maintained but were too thin for my taste. The Bermuda greens putted medium speed and were smooth and firm. Nice! Excellent customer service on every visit here. Plenty of water/ice stations on the course. Nice GPS on carts. No drink cart person out this afternoon. Nice all grass driving range with a good chipping area & practice green. Fun layout to play, definitely recommended.
