Played in the GK event with everyone on Sunday. My first one what a blast! Was joined by my brother, buddies Mike and Keagan, for an enjoyable 4 hours and 15 minute or so round. I cannot say enough about how nice and accommodating the staff was given the nightmare that was the 60. The course visually is beautiful, and always has been. I found the conditions to be pretty great given the temperatures, but the greens were a big disappointment. The worst of the 3 courses I played this weekend (Classic, Indian Wells) if I am being honest. Not just long, but as Matt mentioned seemed to have drag marks in places that were well healed but still affected roll. That being said what a wonderful time and course and I will always return and recommend.

Played in Sunday's GK Event at Desert Willow and all the talk of the very accommodating and attentive staff is well deserved and appreciated. They accommodated many of us who got stuck on the 60 freeway en route to Palm Desert, and had ample cart service and ice and water stations on what turned out to be another blazer in the desert. Played with Mattias and first-timers Ross and Shane. Hope to see you guys again at future events! With little time to warm up and no time to eat ahead of the round, it seemed a daunting prospect leaving four hours later with a decent score. But some pretty darn good conditions despite the heat waves provided ample opportunities and good lies to play your best. As others have mentioned, the greens were a bit overgrown due to the higher temps and slowed down accordingly. There were also a few holes with some poor patches on them, but overall they played pretty good, but certainly not the best part of the course. That was surely the nice, lush fairways covering around 80% of the course. Some thin areas around the greens but nothing to worry about. Rough was tough but fair. Good sand in the bunkers and while completely serviceable, I thought the tee boxes could have used a fresh cut. Fun layout with a few long drives in between holes on the back nine, but all very well marked. There are plenty of water features to keep you honest, and playing from the purple tees provided some interesting shot selections on many of the holes. It's not quite as difficult as its sister course Firecliff, but it will give you everything you can handle. Great to see the gang again and finally share some community after the round when we all got together to eat, drink and pick up some cool swag. Johnny delivers once again, and we all appreciate it greatly. Fun day. Let's do it again sometime!

I also played the GK event here on 9/13/20202. We were the first group off and having brought 3 new members of GK with me i have to say it was a great way to represent the course and the GK club in general. Everyone was very friendly and my friends are already looking forward to attending other events.

On course I was surprised that the conditions were as nice as they were. With all the weather we've had the tee boxes were in great shape, the fairways were lush and usually the ball sat up and the overall appliance is fantastic. The greens were tricky from a speed perspective, but received shots well and were generally in nice shape.

The golf staff were fantastic, both starters were very friendly & accommodating, the Pro Shop staff were great as well. The wait staff on the beautiful deck overlooking 2 great finishing holes were probably a bit lax and indifferent, but got the job done.

I would definitely go back and look forward to another GK event here if that happens.

Played here with everyone else you read at the GK event on 9/13 on what was supposed to be the first tee time (8:05), in reality teeing off just after 8:50am getting to play again with Tim G. and meeting Wendy (abbacat) for the first time; a genuine pleasure. As alluded to by all the review before mine, course was in good summer shape, having dealt with two recent major heat waves and fires/ash/smoke in nearby Yucaipa. Won't go into much detail having a plethora of reviews to choose from if you decide to come out post aeration this next week.

Notes:
-Staff was very friendly and they have no need to try and accommodate a group of GK's size on a prime Sunday morning, but they did it and with class. The accident delays on the 60 could have been a real problem for their scheduling, but instead of limiting the outing, they offered up two more spaces later if need be; that's some kind of management!

-Was nice to see the conditions were so good given how bad the last two weeks have been with those extreme heatwaves and all the resulting secondary effects of the nearby fires. Greens could have been better, but no one came in expecting December conditions in mid September.

-I loved Firecliff, but Mountain View is the "Torrey North" of Desert Willow with comparable hole selection, equal par 3's as it's big brother, and sharp teeth where it counts. Routing is a bit odd at times having to cross housing/parking, but otherwise a fine complement to Firecliff.

If you come out to play Firecliff, do yourself a favor and do what you can to try and play Mountain View as well!

Played in the outing on Sunday and another extended review would be coals to Newcastle at this point. So in summary: Overall very nice course conditions on an attractively landscaped layout with lots of tee options to make it accessible. Fairways and rough were well groomed and very consistent. Without rakes, the bunkers were cleaner than expected, although my ball managed to find the footprints in one. I foot-smoothed it before replacing and playing my ball. I remember one green with some dirt issues along the edge but that was the exception. The rest were in nice shape and, while I would describe them as medium quick, that seemed slower than probably expected for many — not a difficult adjustment and I enjoyed putting on them. Thanks to the well organized staff who were friendly and adjusted to traffic/scheduling issues well on the fly. I was lucky to play with Keith, Nick, and Daniel who are all good company. And of course big thanks to Johnny, without whom the community, much less the event, would not even exist.

Played in the 8:55 group at the GK event yesterday joining by Ron, Matt, and Kevin and had a blast, great group of guys to play with. I had played Mountain View before but did not have a ton of memory on the holes. It is a fun challenging layout and playing from the Purple tee's will give you a bit of a fight. While not quite as good as the Firecliff course I still highly suggest playing this course too. As for the conditions I found the tee's, fairways, and rough to be in very good shape especially for this time of the year. However I had some issues with the greens. I know they need to keep them longer but they were slow and I noticed a lot of mower marks on them as well as somebody was dragging their feet on them. I would say 14 holes had what looked like as spike marks dragged a few inches damaging the greens. Sand was good but one of them had a nice rock buried that left the mark of its people on my wedge. Good carts with GPS and the cart girl was around a few times. The staff was great on course and at the cart loading area. Our server after the round didnt seem to energetic but I cant take away anything from the course on that. Overall this is a very good course and I recommend playing when in the area.

Played Sunday Sept 13th at 855 with the GK group. Left the house so I would get there by 730 and the wreck on the 60 frwy got me there at 835, alot of golfers got stuck in the wreck and the course was great at getting us out when people got there. This was my first time playing here and I really enjoyed it. Played with Daniel, Kevin, and Nick and had a really good time, felt very relaxed with them. Started out playing the lavender tees and moved to the combo on hole 6, that was a big mistake for me, between that and the heat my game went south on the back nine. I thought the course was in really good shape, with the heat I expected it to be a little dry and have balls running, not really and I thought the greens were very hard, next to no ball marks but in cases were a bit slow. The bunkers had really, really good sand , the first time in about 3 years I have played in that kind of sand and I forgot how. Patio area is very large and comfortable. Thanks to Johnny for setting this up and am glad I signed up last minute. PS, I am very hard of hearing and read lips for about 30 to 40% of my communication and I want to thank the guys when we were in the patio area for respect and removing their masks so I could become a member of the conversation. Played in GK outing on 09/13 under what I thought was a beautiful day albeit a little warm (100 degrees). I got stuck behind an accident on the 60 freeway where they are widening it and it was a pain. I called the pro shop and they were very accommodating saying not to worry just get there safe and they would take care of everything. 1st time playing Mountain View course and I really enjoyed it. I played with Kevin (kg1791) and Johnny and we had a great time. For those who haven't played with Johnny, he is very personable and very easy to talk to and I enjoyed his and Kevin's insight to golf and everything else under the sun. I thought the course was in excellent shape from fairway to green there was a dry area or two on the green but they didn't affect how I putted. Not my best round but not my worst, my back was acting up, but playing with Johnny and Kevin was the highlight and if you are in the area definitelya must play..

A large accident on the 60 fwy. coming in delayed some players arrival time but the staff was very accommodating to the situation. Due to the massive heat wave last week I thought the course was in great shape. Tee boxes were very good. The fairways were great, with the ball sitting up. Not much rough to speak of. The greens were firm. they seemed to putt slower as the day went on, but that might be me battling the heat. Was in two sand traps with the sand being very good.
One of the highlights at Desert willow is the practice facility.All grass driving range, chipping area and large putting green Covid 19 precautions are in place.
