Went out to Escena to do a Sunday brunch and golf today. Had the discounted teetime for 2 @ 11:25 am. Another couple who was to join us wanted us to go ahead so we went off as 2.
Pace seemed slow but we finished in 4 hrs so not too bad.
Overall, the course is still very playable but the course looks a lot worse than it actually plays. There were many bare and burnt out areas in the fairways and around the greens. Not sure when they are overseeding but I'm guessing they will probably have to overseed later this month. Visually, it just looked like they are beginning to prepare for overseeding.

Found many bunkers today and all had good sand to hit out of. Greens were smooth but very much summer slow.
Since we had nice brunch before the round and discounted tee times, I'm not complaining. But if I'm driving out from Corona to Palm Springs just for golf, will probably look for deals at Indian Wells or PGA West facilities.

Played yesterday 8-13. Escena is always my go to golf course in Palm Springs due to low rates, great conditions and great layout. It never disappoints me. Greens were aerated about a month ago and are completely healed. I think we were the last group out and we teed off at 11 am. Make sure and call if you come late afternoon. Went to Cimmaron golf course around 3 pm and they were closed for the day.

It's been a few years since I have played Escena and I loved it then and I loved it now. one of my faves in the Palm Springs Area. We had a group of 15 and they only charged us $35 for a morning round on Friday. Customer service was great and they were very gracious about us being late for our tee times (some guys can't let free breakfast at the hotel pass by).
As for the conditions they were very good.
Tees-nice cut lush tee boxes, level and not much divot damage.
Fairways-so nice. Lush green grass with lots of run. The kind of fairways that award good shots.
Rough- also lush (do you see a theme here) not overly long rough, but the grass is sticky. Grabs the club in the way back and requires a committed solid swing through the ball.
Bunkers- surprisingly not is any bunkers, but playing partners were and it looked fine and didn't here any complaints.
Greens- firm with medium speed. Looks like they would play faster. In good shape with true putts.

Played Escena on 5/14 with a group of friends. Scheduled for 7:30 & 7:38am, we teed off about 20 minutes late because a bigger group of friends immediately in front of us was either late to arrive and/or terrible at getting off the first tee. POP was just over 4.5 hours. Really enjoy playing here, with generous fairways and typically very good course conditions, and this round was no different. We observed level tees, lush fairways (maybe a couple of thin spots), and smooth greens. The one fairway bunker I hit into however, had a golf-ball sized rock in it (under the surface) and other smaller rocks in there too. My playing partner also hit a bigger rock in a bunker too! Hopefully, they can clean out the bunkers by the time we return next year.

Played 1-29-16 12 pm $95 First time playing this course and enjoyed it. Everything emerald green & lush. Fairway's looked a little thin on the reseeded grass, but played great with decent roll. Bunkers & T's good Greens had been sanded. No aeration but the sand made them slow and very unpredictable on lines. Too bad because that was the only down side of the day. Good layout with good views & fun design. I would enjoy playing here again, but for them not to mention the sanding when I made the reservation makes me a little angry with them that I spent $95 for that ! I hate when courses do that. No driving range, but do have mats and large net to hit into, with a good chipping area & putting greens.

Course was in fantastic shape tee to green. Generous landing areas. Long par 3's. Some water in play. A must play desert golf course. All par 5's are low handicap holes. A great view on patio for lunch after your round. The airport is near. Noise does not affect your round. Green fees reasonable this time of year.

Played Saturday 12/5, 9AM tee time - Course was in great shape. Tee boxes were fairly level with some divots, some filled some not. Fairways were lush with some thin spots here and there but got nice rolls, again some divots filled some not. Bunkers had good sand, some were deep and hard to play out of for this amateur. Greens were lush, FAST, did I mention FAST!. Some ball marks. POP was 5+ hrs.

We had a 4some ahead of us, who were playing decent from forward tees, groups ahead of them were a bit on slow side. Had to wait on second shots about 50% of the time.

Customer service was great - from bag pickup on parking lot to starter. Decent breakfast, bit expensive but it is a Resort. Service was excellent. Starter was very friendly and informative, gave us a recommendation on which tee to play, marshal came around a couple of times but lot of players out there so I'm sure there was not much he could do to speed up play. Cart girl came around quite a few times. Weather was mild, cool morning that warmed up by the 3rd hole.

This is probably my favorite course in the Valley. It was in very good condition today, although some of the greens had a bare spot or 2, as the grass hasn't fully grown in yet in a few places. The greens were still smooth, and would hold a shot. The were fairly quick today, not the quickest I've played them on this course, but still a good speed. Fairways and tee boxes were very good, as was the sand...and I was in a lot of bunkers today. Didn't play very good today, but I still love the course. Teed off at 0934 and finished in just under 4 hours.

Play here occasionally when in town. Have always enjoyed it with my buddies and can't beat the view.
