With all the rain forecast this week, and finishing Goat Hill so quickly, decided to play Arrowood. What a total contrast to the Goat. I have always enjoyed playing here. This is a fun course which provides ample enough challenge, but still allows you opportunities to score.

Consistent with the last review, greens roll nicely, reasonable quick and receptive. Most of the fairways have good coverage, although there are "winter thin" portions, which is typical these days. Both bunkers I found had plenty of well manicured sand.

I've played here a number of times, so I know the course somewhat. There seems to be a number of very easy holes and a number of really tough holes, but not a whole lot of in between. ( seem to struggle on #4, #8, #16 & #17 )

Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Recommend this course, enjoyable without being a push-over.

I played Arrowood on 3/7/2020. Course is in good shape heading into maintenance on 3/31. Teed off around 10:30 and finished around 4:30 with some waiting on a few holes. This is pretty regular on a weekend round here. Took the cart but the course is totally walk-able. Fairways are in pretty good shape but this course overall does have what I would consider to be thin fairways. Greens were in good shape fairly receptive and quite fast. This course has made alot of improvements over the bunkers in the past year or so. The bunkers that I were in had some nice fluffy sand.

Course is constantly making changes. Months ago they removed the bunker in the middle of the fairway on hole 4. Recently it they have added a small bunker on the middle right side of the hole along the fence where the slope runs down.

I really enjoy the course and the shot making required. I would recommend this course.

3/2 using Palm card offered by the course 330 POP which would have been faster if not for trouble on 16 and 17 very much like playing an exclusive outing as there was no one in front nor behind. Had the pleasure of playing with Jay an enjoyable companion for the round and a golfer with a high playing IQ.
A little cool and breezy to start but heck this is winter. Fairways are dormant brown and thin for extra roll but soft enough to provide some cushion to mitigate bounce. Way too many unfilled divots(used 4 bottles of sand to help out). Rough along fairways is mostly cut rather short a little whispy and playable. Some areas on slopes under the trees and around the greens are much longer thicker and a times downright nasty. Tees are level mostly with good cover.
Bunkers have deep heavy sand most were recently groomed but unfortunately the machine left some deep furrows making difficult shots even more of a challenge. Also the fairway bunkers have the same sand so the ball is likely to sit down--myself prefer firmer surface so I guess if I don't like it don't go there.
Greens are mostly smooth medium fast and faster as they dried. Greens are large with some tiers and contour and with the 6 zone pin placements some locations near the perimeter demanded more precision than I have. Also had the perception that the holes might have needed more tamping down as putts appeared to break both ways away from the hole as they lost speed.
Customer service friendly and cheerful as usual.

2/19 8 am tee off paired with a fun couple leisurely 4 1/2 POP of our own making with no one pushing so fell into a no hurry mode. Nice welcoming check in with several friendly staff contacts from the cart attendant, front desk(nice to see Nikki again) and the starter, Good carts with interactive GPS and thankfully a windshield for the early chill.
Fairways are winter thin and brownish for the most part. The course has emphasized ball mark repair which is working as very few unrepaired were to be found. Next on the agenda get players to use the divot mix on the fairways. So even with the tight lies there was some cushion to make iron and hybrid shots playable. 3 metals were more challenging for me in particular. Apparently lot of over night watering as the fairways were pretty wet to start which carried over onto the greens as well. Rough along fairways seemed to be cut down in most areas with the dangerous angry stuff around the greens formed into some areas of clumpy tangled blades that extracted payment for trespassing there.
Bunkers looked to have been recently groomed and were well filled with heavy sand. Tees in good shape with good cover.
Greens as mentioned before started out a little wet and hence were rolling about medium speed which increase to medium fast as the day progress. Today was zone 6 and with the size of the greens and the abstract shape there were some tricky locations.
One comment that the par 3s are somewhat similar in distance with 8 and 11 quite similar in appearance and currently the zones on these 2 holes are almost identical. Other than that there is good variety and often a need to think before you hit on many holes.
Very enjoyable round on a quality layout.

Played Sunday for a great $54 dollar rate. This course is great for $54 but for $80? Pace of play was good for being very busy, finished in about 4 hours. Tee Boxes are great, fairways tight and in great shape and the rough was penal in spots and overall very good.
Sand Traps had a lot of sand and were tough to get out of and easy to have a poor lie. They need a good rain to pack them down a little bit.
Greens were overall pretty smooth with a few that had some rough patches but they rolled fairly true and were fast today.
Great Customer service and had a great time.

1/15 off at 752 minimal waiting and a comfortable POP just under 4 joined by Kurt and Kits 2 fun characters and good golfers made for a nice outing on a pleasant SC winter am.
Tees had been overseeded and are lush level and large enough to rotate the markers to prevent excessive damage. Bunkers have rather heavy sand requiring a more shallow stroke and a couple were on the thin side.
Agree with Bob from Tues review fairways are not in quality shape right now, winter thin brownish and often still showing the furrows from de-thatching. Tight lies some with cushion some not and divots aplenty with about 1/3 sanded. Rough along fairways cut down to about 1 inch and about 2-3 in areas around and behind the greens. Greens are mostly surrounded by mounds and many are up-slope to the green and down slope from the sides and behind where the unruly tangled rough dwells.
Greens which were rated an 11 but early on were slower from the overnight damp and then lived up to their speed about an hour in. Pins again often in tough locations near the perimeter on many holes or bordering slopes or tiers. Also many of the greens slope away toward the back areas so an uphill approach putt can turn into a 6 foot come-backer quite quickly. Greens were mostly smooth but with too many un-repaired or poorly repaired ball marks. We did notice that on quite a few holes the ball broke both ways at the hole which may indicate the need for more attention to tamping down the hole after cutting and placing the cup.
Quality customer service very friendly and welcoming staff. Newer carts with GPS.

Played on Tuesday, 1/14 mid morning. Excellent customer service as usual. Excellent practice areas: driving range, chipping green with a sand trap and a large putting green. Greens: smooth, fast and soft to firm. Fairways: VERY, VERY firm and thin, many divots. Worst part of the course. Traps: ample sand and raked. Rough: 1-3" high, playable. POP: just over 4 1/2 hours. Nice GPS in the cars. Good food at the grill.

12/18 using the Palm card about $33 per round, joined by Bruce and Jeff, good players and enjoyable golfing companions. POP 415 having to wait the 1st 3 holes and fell into a rather deliberate pace which left us a good hole behind by the end of the day. Friendly check in. Good practice areas, chipping green with a bunker, range with cushy mats and a large putting green that was just a tad slower than course conditions. Newer carts with interactive GPS with yardage to the pin. Fairways are mostly thin giving more roll but tight lies. They are however surprisingly soft so ball first was the mantra and due to the softness it was easy to take a divot many of which had been left unfilled so I often carried the sand bottle and filled in along the way. The rough was the second primary line of defense generally 1-2 inches along the fairways and longer if there was any kind of slope then closer to the green 2-3 and along side and particularly behind the green 3 plus and juicy. Tees in good shape. Bunkers generally looked pretty good but some were on the wet side and varied as to depth and consistency of sand. OMG the greens--were posted at 10.5--which must have been tested at 1st light as they surely seemed faster. The greens here are large amoeba shaped with significant contours included. Course uses 6 zones. Today we learned about the #3. So with the size of the greens there is ample space within each zone for pin placement. Today proximity to the fringe and edge of elevation changes was featured. I think this also contributed to the deliberate nature of our round as there were NO EASY putts. Greens are planted with a fine thin bladed grass and being soft are prone to pitch marks but often neglected or poorly repair by the patrons. All in all glad to be playing!!!

Excellent practice facilities; driving range, mats only, chipping green with a sand trap and of course, a putting green. Greens: soft, smooth and fast. Fairways: VERY thin and soft and some muddy areas. 6-7 fairways cart path only. Worst shape I've ever seen. Need a couple of sunny weeks to dry them out. Rough: 1-3" high. around the fairways, and 3-5" around some of the greens. Looks like they haven't been cut because of the soft, wet conditions. Traps: OK condition. Very good GPS in the carts. POP: just over 4 hours.
