Played on Monday, 12/6, in a charity scramble event. Staff was a well oiled machine, grabbing clubs and loading them on the carts. With the shotgun start, carts were staged and they were running a shuttle to the range across the street despite the easy walk. All grass range with plenty of stalls and a large putting green with some elevation changes.

Course was in incredible condition and what you would expect for a high-end private club. Tee boxes were level with little amount of damage. Fairways were lush, with some fairway edges in the runoff areas a little thin, but no bare areas. Rough was up and thick, and difficult to hit out. Bunkers were well groomed but did not hit one all day. Greens were smooth and fast, with lots of undulations and a bit hard to read.

If you ever have a chance at teeing it up at DragonRidge, absolutely jump on it. Just an experience from start to finish, a very fun course with the best views of the Vegas Valley, and a great vibe hanging out afterwards.

Overall, conditions here were very good. The fairways and rough were mostly green and quite wet. As such, there wasn't much roll out on any shot. I did notice that large sections of the rough had large patches of dead grass and also, particularly near the cart path, there were thin, deep grooves of mud that interrupted the normal grass (not wide enough to be cart damage), not sure if that's an intentional thing or not. The greens did look like they were still recovering from the summer and some aeration but rolled true. The bunkers were also very wet with harder sand in them.

Pace was not an issue, at a little over 3 hours, playing through 4 groups on the front nine. By the back nine, there was literally no one else on the course. It's hard to really comment much on the service as it was hands off after getting a cart (no starter, no one at cart return, etc.). The views and the layout are the strengths of the this course.

Last year, Famed02, John_T and I bought a 4some here at a charity auction and used it on Friday, April 19, joined by John's dad. The course is consistently rated 1 of the best in the state and has no public access (unless you know a member). We took full advantage of the "member for a day," arriving early and leaving late. Amenities: A full bar/grill with surprisingly low prices. We had lunch on the front patio with good service and great food. After the round, we enjoyed Happy Hour on the back patio overlooking the 18th green with half off drink specials (3 beers, 1 cocktail= $11). Carts have GPS with distance to the hole. There are coolers full of water stationed around the course, a drink cart that was around at least 4 times, and a snack shack between 9 and 10. Practice area: Full grass driving range, Callaway practice balls, chipping/bunker area, and 2 practice greens (1 by the clubhouse, and a smaller one next to the 1st tee) Course: Simply incredible. Tee boxes were spotless, but some were slightly not level. Fairways were lush and immaculate, almost to the point of apologizing for a taking a divot. Rough was up and somewhat gnarly, 2-3 inches. Bunkers were the best I've ever played in the Vegas area, no pebbles, whitish sand that was easy to hit through and get out. The greens were pretty nice. It appeared they had been aerated a few weeks ago, and had a light top dressing on them. They were smooth, with almost no ball marks, and medium speed. I would have loved to see them running fast (starter said they were running at a "10"). Design: a Jay Morrish design with some good risk/reward holes and a mix of short/long par 4s. An interesting mix of par 3s (3 downhill and 1 uphill). Mark calling #10 funky is an understatement, even with the GPS in the cart, I had no idea of where to go from the tee. There's a few holes where once you're on the green, you look back and see a different way to play it. Overall: with it's location in the hills of Henderson, the course has the best views of Vegas than any course in the area. From almost every hole, you can see the Strip and if not, you're in the lava rock canyons. I would easily jump at any chance to play here again.

Felt very fortunate to gain access to DragonRidge to begin a quick Vegas golf trip with sixpez on Sunday, 11/15. We had a noon tee time but got started early and played in around 3:00. I had somewhat lofty expectations for this course, and it far surpassed those! I absolutely loved it and feel it ranks among the upper tier of Vegas/Mesquite golf courses I've played (incl. Cascata, Southern Highlands, Wolf Creek, TPC Las Vegas, Coyote Springs, etc.).

It certainly didn't hurt that conditions were fantastic. The fairways were among the most lush I've ever played. Greens were very good; smooth, firm and medium fast. It was quite windy and stopping downwind shots was very difficult. Rough was very good. Bunkers were very nice. Tee boxes fantastic. All around one of the nicest conditioned courses I've ever played.

Layout-wise, I was extremely impressed. There are significant elevation changes throughout the course that constantly keep things interesting. The views of the Las Vegas Strip are phenomenal from many different holes. The 10th hole is very funky (with dramatic rock outcroppings that pack a powerful visual punch!) and it would have been helpful to have a caddy or be playing with someone who had played it before. The 13th hole immediately became one of the best holes I've ever played, a gorgeous par 4 that plays uphill toward the mountains and canyons, with the small, do-or-die green perched across a rocky divide. The split fairway 18th gives the player many options and is a great finisher to a fantastic course.

Played here today with Itslikeimsayin. Apparently they do allow some guest play at times, so we were able to get out with a noon tee time. $50 rate exceptional considering almost all the Vegas public courses cost more on a Sunday afternoon. We played through a foursome at the turn and let a couple singles play through, so we enjoyed our own relaxed pace. The course is nearly immaculate right now! Tee boxes excellent and fairways were some of the nicest I've ever played on. Looked like AstroTurf at times. Rough lush and just thick enough to make you work for a recovery. Sand traps good. Greens firm and very fast. Visually showed signs of aeration, but rolling smooth and pretty much fully healed. There were quite a few unrelated marks, which was unfortunate. Our best guess is that maintenance must go around and fix them so maybe the members don't bother to fix them? A bit odd on such a nice course and worth noting. This is a fun layout. It was crazy windy today and I think that made the course tougher than it is. Great variety of holes and designs. A few really tricky holes on the back nine. Incredible views of The Strip and cool rugged desert setting throughout the course. Lots of really nice homes and more under construction. Great staff and excellent experience on all levels today.

Played 8/24/06 on a hot, windy afternoon to get the summer twilight rate of $100. This club is going private in November 2006, and I wanted to play the course because I’ve seen many comments (on this site and others) on the great conditioning of the course and the great views of Vegas. The views are definitely there, and you’ll see huge big-$$ homes, but we played about two weeks ahead of their overseeding schedule, so the course was already very much dried out and the fairways were cut very short. And it didn’t help that I wasn’t hitting the ball very solidly! Greens were in very good condition and rolled well, but were very firm. I never did get a feel for how the greens would break against the hills. Many of the greens are elevated, making it hard to get anywhere near the hole with the very firm conditions. The front side was fairly open and relatively flat, but the back nine is mountain golf with very small hitting areas and plenty of trouble. A few holes were almost goofy golf – you basically must hit irons off the tee on both par-5s on the back, and there are several blind shots and forced carries where very small targets must be hit. This is definitely a course where playing several times will help with scoring. You must be able to hit the ball solidly and accurately within narrow distance parameters on many holes. The course would play more fairly with more receptive fairways and greens. No yardage book, but a good GPS system. Staff was friendly at check-in, but never saw a ranger during the round; however, the course was almost deserted. No cart girl. The course provides each player with two bottles of water, but no other drinking water on the course except a fountain after number 12. I wouldn’t play here again. Recommended only for very good players.
