I have never played this course but heard from some buddies that this is a must play. So I made a tee time on a recent trip to Vegas and drove up to Mesquite. First of all the drive isn’t bad at all it’s a straight shot up 15. Driving in the parking lot didn’t look all impressive as by buddies said however I entered the huge golf shop with tons of cool stuff. Sure it was expensive but what top golf course offers a logo shirt for $50. I then saw a video of the course on a welcome area tv and got a glimpse of a hole from the restaurant. All of a sudden I couldn’t get to the first tee fast enough. Got to the first tee and stood 150ft over the first fairway - what a freaking view! I could comment on every hole but honestly you have to see it for yourself. Every hole was a blast to play. Elevations, canyons and did I mention unbelievable conditions. How do they keep this place so pristine? I saw some mowers permanently stationed on some tee boxes. I’ve played some of the most iconic private clubs in NY. The uniqueness and shear enjoyment of this place is second to none. I am not one to gloat but this place is just that cool. This club is all 10s. Will be back with at least 4 friends. I am sure they will buy me dinner after I introduce them to wolf creek.

Ahhh WOLF CREEK! The Disneyland of Golf. Such a wild ride, loving every minute of it!

Played on Saturday, 8/2 with a noon tee time. We were paired with a vacationing older player, who may not have liked our social interactions. He left after 16. We were behind a slow playing 4some, who discussed bets between every shot. It seemed like a long 4 1/2 hour round, especially in the 108 degree heat.

6th round here, and definitely not disappointed. I can't believe the conditions for the heat and humidity in this area this time of year. Great tee boxes. Super lush fairways, no thin or bare areas in sight, just incredible. Rough is variant depending on where you are, I found some short areas and some thick, gnarly areas. It's rough, it should be exciting. The bunkers have stand up since going to the beach like white sand, kinda light and thin, but easy to hit from. Greens were in great shape. Smooth but for a few ball marks, and medium pace. They have added giant fans on some of the greens to help air flow. They are also helpful when trying to cool off.

It's Wolf Creek, this course has never disappointed. Paid $65 for the noon Twilight rate. Resort quality service. An ice cooler full of clean towels at check in and before 10 to use to cool off, along with water every couple of holes. Can't have a drink cart on those paths but there's a drive through snack shack before 6 and 15, along with the grill at the turn. USB on the carts, but no GPS.

It's my favorite course in Nevada, so incredible what they did with it. If you're not impressed, nothing will impress you.

Played here for the first time in a couple years. Haven't been able to get out nearly as much in years past, but the annual trip to mesquite is one that I won't miss. This course has been my long time favorite of all the places I've ever played....but it might actually be dropping down the list after this last time.

Had an 0800 tee time on a Wednesday morning...should be no problem, right? Yea well that's where we were wrong...we got there early, checked in and told the guy we planned to play 36 that day. His response is what shook us..."you'll be right on the line if we can let you out again, our last tee time is at 1pm". We looked at each other in disbelief..."uhhhh what?" We play in 3 hours when it's just the two of us usually, so we have plenty of time to finish, go eat in the restaurant and get out again no problem. Not anymore. Apparently they had the USGA out here earlier this year and they set the pace of play at 5 hours & 10 minutes. And the pro shop is proud of that. People stopping, taking pictures all over the place...I get it. It's a beautiful course, but it's not a 5 hour round course. But....they were right. We were stuck behind a 4 some who wouldn't let us play through despite us asking a couple times, until we finally jumped them at number 10. We finished in 4.75 hours, but took 3 just to get through the front. Once we passed them on 10, we didn't catch another group until number 16 who immediately let us go through. Pace of play here gets a measly 3 out of 10. They need a marshal out here to keep things moving and making sure people are playing from the right tees. Some have some pretty long carries and playing from the wrong tees could make it very difficult to make it over.

The fairways were in great shape...as they almost always are. Would give these a 9 out of 10.

The tee boxes were pretty good...few patchy lies and a few which weren't quite flat. Would give these a 7 out of 10.

The rough was hit or miss...some holes it was lush and punishing, and some it was barely there. Would say this would be more of a 6 out of 10. I'm a fan of consistency on the course so it would have been great to see it thick and dark green throughout the whole course.

The greens were fantastic - as you'd expect. They were fast and rolled true. Would give these a 9 out of 10.

The bunkers are hit and miss...some are coarse white sand which looks and plays beautiful...some are darker with a bunch of rocks in them. Would give these a 6 out of 10.

Gas ?? Powered cart and a short driving range was first noticed on a gorgeous sunny warm day that got up to mid/high 90s. The big building was closed, the pro shop was modest but full of usable merchandise- all went well. Then the first hole ?? appeared before our eyes ?? probably the best looking par 5 I have ever seen in my life- it was framed like a picture but better than any picture I have seen of this course. The elevation drop was unreal and it seems like my drive would float forever in the air. Although you are personally there, your mind wanders and the imagination steals you away. Nonchalantly, I put my glove on not letting anyone notice, my heart was racing saying to myself, what have I done to deserve to be here. But I quietly said a prayer of thanks and help on my first drive on this beautiful monster of a course... and bam! Just like that a super tight draw from the right was turning back to right center of the fairway avoiding the first visible bunker on the right. What an amazing feeling was that!!! My heart was still racing but finally, it was my turn again and I went for it to the green and got into the right green side bunker with a bright light colored sand that looks larger than a fine beach sand and it immediately reminded me of the sand in the bunkers of Boulder Creek although those were even more coarse and I just knew it would be easy to get out of. Sure enough the ball lifted high with lots of spin leaving me a 15 footer that I’d miss for a tap in on their newly healed but a smooth green for a par.

The rest would be history as far as their conditions go along with their beautiful looks.

After a couple of holes in awe of this amazing place, I did wake up and said to my self that, I’m gonna have to play!!

All services were good. The cart we had was low on brakes and that I didn’t like, but I didn’t mind the gas powered cart.

UP, its all out in the desert! 20-30 for most of the round wasn't fun but nature
has a way of sobering the best players. Club selection is absolutely critical!
"Clean club" dude at the 18 green was unnecessary. Give us the option at cart
turn in rather than mandating it. Some of us keep a tidy bag during course of play.
Limited warmup/practice facilities. Wolfpack ale is good...
Due to location, cell service is spotty and apps don't always operate properly.

I played Wolf Creek on 4-28-19. This was the highlight of my golf weekend with Bill, Kathy and Dixie. I had wanted to play here ever since I first saw a magazine photo of it over 10 years ago.

We were greeted in the parking lot and given our cart. After checking in and exploring the pro shop we had a quick breakfast and putted a few balls. The grass driving range was close by but there wasn’t time to warm up before heading out. The starter gave us a few hints and instructions and off we went.

The view from the first tee was just a small taste of the spectacular scenery that we would see throughout the day. So many times reality doesn’t meet the perfection of media photos, but in this case it exceeded it by a mile. The green turf and white sand contrasted against the red canyons was breathtaking. There was a lot of colorful desert flowers in bloom. From every direction, it was just gorgeous.

The conditions were just amazing. The fairways were lush with no flaws that I could see. The bunkers were a little thin but clean and groomed. The rough was consistent around the course and easy to hit from. The greens were firm and fast. There were a few unrepaired marks here and there but not enough to give a second thought to at the time. The tee boxes were all level with few divots.

I often marvel at how much work it must take to keep any golf course in good shape, but never as much as I did here. With the overall amount of space, all the elevation changes and areas of grass just tucked into little hidden curves, it’s just amazing. Huge kudos to the maintenance crew.

The course is tough, even from the very short red tees. Hole #4 with its bunker minefield was certainly interesting (I got caught in 3 of them). Although the forward tees often take out some of the challenge of forced carries, hole #7 still had all the thrill. I had a great drive right down to the creek and then made the very high uphill second shot over the canyon to the green. That hole was fun! Prior to playing I had seen a very intimidating photo of #14. Seeing it in person just got me so excited and determined to get it right!

The only thing I didn’t like was the carts. It was very hard to control the speed when going down the extremely steep hills. And there was no GPS. If there is ever a course where one would be helpful it’s Wolf Creek. There is no beverage cart on the course but the comfort station by holes 6 & 15 has a drive-thru window. I’d never seen that before.

Playing Wolf Creek was everything I’d hope it would be. Playing it was probably one of the most satisfying rounds I’ve had. It was totally worth the price and shooting 97 (!) was just the icing on the cake. I’m ready to play it again!

Played on Saturday, 11/24, with John, Matt, and Kevin. Course was in mostly excellent conditions. Fairways were lush, with full coverage. Rough was decent. Bunkers were a bit weird, new fluffy white beach like sand on the back 9, older heavier tan coarse sand on the front. Greens were great, firm, pretty fast (I can't imagine them faster), some of the front 9 holes showed signs of recent aeration, but nothing to affect putts. Tee boxes were the downside, some of the par 3s were almost all dirt, but it was more a visual downside and not a playability downside.

Side note: They started us on the back 9, with no one in front or behind, and told us to take at least 2:20 or we'll be waiting on 1. We took our time, throwing in some putting challenges, most from the back to the front of greens. So weird to see one person take a big curvy line and another go straight at it, and both end up 2 feet away. I also liked starting on the back, minus the fact you have to start on 10, which is a brutal start. #1 is my favorite opening hole in golf. The closing holes on the front (5-8) are so much better than the back, outside of 17.

My favorite course ever. So much fun and crazy visuals from almost every tee box. Worth a trip.

What can I say about Wolf Creek that hasn't already been said?? The place is just plain WOW factor x 10! Everything you've heard or seen in pictures is absolutely true. Played today with fellow GK'ers Matt, Rob, and John and we had so much fun. They use a split tee system here and we were the first group off #10 at 8:50am. Starter warned us that front 9 had tee times going off until around 11:00 so take our time so as not to get stuck at the turn. We played at a nice leisurely pace and never saw the group behind us all day! We got to the turn right at 11:00 and caught those groups for the entire back nine for a total POP around 4.5 hours. Not bad on a holiday weekend. Course conditions can pretty much be summed up like this. Everything was perfect or near perfect with the exception of the (White) tee boxes which were surprisingly poor on many holes for a course of this caliber. Either torn up or on sloped pretty bad. But if there is ever to be a weak spot on a course, I'd rather it be the tees than anywhere else. Greens were firm and at times scary fast if you were above the hole. They have some crazy undulations on them so we all did our best Bubba golf impersonations during the day just messing around. Fairways- PURE Rough- Lush in the areas surrounding the greens and starting to go dormant around the fairways. Bunkers- All new Augusta white sand and they have a coarser texture than most but they were great to play from. Service at all levels was excellent. No drink cart driving on the course but it was parked in the lot by the clubhouse. With all the stunning views and elevation changes this is definitely a bucket list course. Not for the faint of heart or those with vertigo issues though! ;)

Had a great time playing Wolf Creek. The most unique setting for golf that I have ever seen or played. The photos on the website dont do Wolf Creek justice. The elevation changes are massive. Their staff is all 10s. The only small detraction is the smaller driving range and no locker room. Neither of those took away from my day one bit. The conditioning of the course was amazing. How do they get grass to grow on that dirt? This golf experience will be among the most memorable rounds I will ever play. Yes it was bucket list for me. Enjoy!
