Played Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale over the weekend. What an enjoyable round.
The practice area is fantastic and exactly what you'd expect from a venue that hosts a tour event. Large chipping and putting greens, and of course excellent grass on the practice range.

Although we did play from the blue tees and the greens were not rolling at tournament speed, the course itself is not overly hard. Medium to short par-4's abound, the the par-3's aren't punishing either. But very deep bunkers come into play on most holes and should be avoided. But when you're in them, the sand is definitely playable.

The tees were phenomenal and rough for the most part good. They warned us on the carts about "transitioning" course conditions, but nothing unexpected at the end of the good season. Greens were smooth and receptive with most clubs in the bag. They rolled a consistent 10-10.5 so not scary fast, but quick enough for us average players. The greens weren't designed with trickbag undulations or swales, but just subtle breaks and gradual tilts that made them a joy to putt on. Fairways were very good as well so overall, the course was in good shape.

It was really fun playing holes that I've seen on television numerous times, and most sure do look different in person than on TV, missing the grandstands like the ones surrounding #16.

The service overall was good with the highlights being the starter and outside supervisor. The snack girl and kids outside after the round needed some personality; they weren't rude, just a little dry.

I have to say the worst thing about the property is the golfers inability or unwillingness to take care of the course. I have never seen more unkept bunkers, to the point that it looked like guys were practicing in them and then leaving them without cleaning up. It really was embarrassing. And the greens were pelted with unrepaired ball marks which is a shame because the greens were in good shape. Can't fault the course for us golfers not taking care of the properties we play.

Go play TPC Scottsdale-you will enjoy the round for a lot of reasons. Just don't forget to rake your bunkers and repair those marks. Lol.

Finally – Got to play TPC Scottsdale Stadium course after seeing it on TV all these years. Have to say the course did not disappoint. Also have to say I’m glad I was NOT in front of thousands “chunking” my short iron on 16 – LOL. What a fun golf course. Especially the last 4 holes on the back nine. Super fun to play with GK’ers Isoceles and dcaochl too. Both of them helped me envision many holes regarding how many spectators are present and where they normally put the Sunday pins. The back left portion of the green is even more insane in person than on TV. I think if you are a fan of the Phoenix Open you owe it to yourself to play this course.

Rather then be totally redundant on these recent reviews, I agree completely with my fellow GK’ers regarding playing conditions and the high level of service TPC provided. Great seeing chilipalmer99, sr129, underway99 and rjmkk who were in the group in front of us and hanging out in the bar afterwards. BTW – you guys rock for picking up our drinks – Thanks!

TPC Scottsdale Stadium is a course I intended to play many times again.

Played 5/21 at the GK Plays outing. Johnny got us a discounted rate of $79 which included range balls. In the carts they provided yardage books. Over all the course was in great shape. Tee boxes were lush. Fairways were in good. There were a few hots spots in some areas but that's to be expected this time of year. It was very hot that day. (108) They did seem to be staying on top of it by watering those areas throughout the day. Rough was cut short so it gave you almost as good a lie as the fairway. Sand traps were in great condition. They had plenty of soft sand. The greens were great as well. They were firm but soft enough to hold good shots. They rolled smooth and true. I thought they were med-fast about a 10.5-11 on the stimp.

I like the layout of the course. The front nine is more of the typical desert style. Some forced carries off the tees, transition areas which cut across the front of greens. The back nine has a different feel with more water hazards in play. Water is in play on #11, #12, #13, #15, #17, and #18. The last four holes can make the tournament really exciting. #15 a reachable Par 5. #16 a short Par 3 enclosed with grandstands. #17 a drivable Par 4. #18 a right to left hole with a big lake down the left side.

I thought the service was outstanding. The guys at the bag drop were friendly and helpful. Saw the beverage cart at least 4 times. The ranger comes around and brings you a cold towel. The clubhouse is a great facility. It has lots of cool golf memorabilia. My only fault with the course was one of the water stations ran out of water. A few others were almost empty.

Yes, this course is a little more expensive then other high-end golf courses but it's worth it if you want a real PGA tour pro experience. Thanks Johnny for setting this up. It was great to meet some other local GKers. Photos submitted.

Played 5-21 with Johnny and 5 other GK'ERS and loved it. An all around 1st class experience.
Great staff from the guys who loaded your clubs, to the pro shop, to the people on the course who came by numerous times with ice cold scented towels(it was 106).
The range was it perfect shape. Lots of targets to work to.
We started on #10 and every part of the course was almost flawless.
There were a few burned out spots on the fairways but i guess that is to be expected with the summer heat coming on in full force.
The greens were some of the nicest I've ever played on! Smooth-quick and guess what? The players here fix ball marks! What a concept!
The bunkers have plenty of sand but you really need to try to avoid them. They are really
deep.
I will have a greater understanding of the challenges the pros face when I watch the tournament on tv next year. This place is challenging from where we played let alone the back tees.

I played TPC Stadium Course during a GK Play Day even on Monday May 21. The course was in GREAT shape, even though it was 106 outside. The practice facility is a little out of the way but is in pristine condition.

There were a number of fairways that had a lot of sand on them but it didn't impact play at all. The sand in the bunkers was outstanding, although most of the bunkers are very deep, so try to avoid them.

There is alot of water, more than you would expect in the middle of the desert, so make sure you know your yardage and control those shots. The greens were true and while the rough is thick, the desert gets you because there are a lot of trees.

The staff was outstanding. Cart girl came around 3 or 4 times during our round and the ranger was around with ice towels (did I mention it was 106) multiple times as well.

I strongly recommend this course to everyone!!!

Finally got my chance to play this course. 50 $ golf now. greens were a perfect 10. no ball marks, smooth, and fast (especially compared to other courses i played on my trip ex. raven south mountain, pga west norman course....) fairways were decent to above average. you can tell they are always doing maintenance year long to get them in great shape for the tourny. overall it is definitely one of my top golf experiences ever. great staff, fun memorable holes. will play again. tomorrow

Wow...What a course. This place is in great shape after re-opening. Fairways were lush, greens were perfect, putts rolled true and were very fast. The staff was very nice, very helpful, and completely top notch. This couse is very fun and not overly tough. If you can keep it in the fairway and putt decent you should be able to score pretty good.
I can't wait to come back.

The course was in good shape, although starting to get a little brown. Normal for this time of year. Overall, I like this course, especially the back nine. But there are better courses for less money. It is nice to once in awhile play a course you watch the pros play.
