Played in the GK outing with Itslikeimsayin, Sixpez & Toobaked. Our group played the blues (6739/73.1/140). POP was typical for a Sat. afternoon, around 5 hours. The weather was nice, low 80's with little wind. First time here for me, and overall it was fun even if I played poorly. Typical Pete Dye design, there are numerous mounds and bunkers complete with challenging sight lines on almost every hole. Even though the course is basically flat, you almost never have a level lie after your tee shot because of all the mounds/moguls. The tees were lush and well maintained, only some par 3's had a decent amount of divot damage. The fairways were lush, I loved the way the ball sat up. Few places with severe divots. The rough was mowed down and not overly penal. I could only imagine how ugly this course would be with deep rough, it would be almost unplayable for the average golfer. The plentiful sand traps were well maintained. There are many HUGE traps on this course, a few with 10' to 15' banks/lips to hit over. Avoiding some of the sand here is a MUCH higher priority than almost any other course I have ever played. Left of #16 green is a place where you may well be looking at a double digit score on that hole if your ball finds that bunker. 2 members of our group hit about 6 total shots before they got out. The average player just doesn't have a sand blast shot that they can hit 30' in the air to land soft on a hard green just over the face of a huge trap face where if you are barely short, the ball rolls right back to where you started. Negative design elements: There were a couple of times people in our group missed the green by 15 yards and thought they were relatively safe... only to go and find themselves in yet another deep bunker that was hidden from the fairway. It was almost unfair where some of the sand bunkers were located. Again, the normal golfer doesn't have the 20 yard sand shot over a deep, thick grass bunker to land softly onto a firm green where if you are barely long you go into yet another deep sand or grass bunker. TRUE up/downs (not where you were getting credit because you were putting from the fringe) are EARNED on this course! Positive design element: The fairways are ringed with a different kind of grass than the fairways and the main rough, so you have emerald greens rings about 10 yards wide around each fairway that looks really nice. The bermuda greens were visually unappealing. However, they putted better than they looked, medium fast, relatively smooth & firm. Almost too firm, not real receptive to holding irons and especially chips. Our group "missed" many greens with irons and chips where we landed well on the green then were putting back on the green from the fringe after it bounced and rolled & rolled. Overall, I enjoyed the challenging layout and the conditions were excellent. Probably not a course I would ever break 80 from the blues on my best day, but it was still fun even with my not breaking 90 today. The customer service was top notch. We had dinner afterward @ Ernie's, my food was good. I look forward to playing here again sometime.

Starter warned us they just aerated about 10 days ago. Greens were still healing so we did not get the optimal roll on our putts, which was kind of disappointing considering the caliber of the golf course.

Staff was excellent all though out the day, from starter, to guys at the cart barn. The snack bar was closed and we ordered food to go from Ernie's so we can get as much golf as possible and our food were packed and ready to go in 10 minutes.

Course was super tough if you don't hit fairways. Rough was super tough to get a decent contact.

Pace was decent. Finished a little over 4 1/2 hours. There was some waiting on some holes but it was moving along.

Overall, it was fun as always playing here. While the conditions are not perfect, we still enjoyed it and look forward to coming back.

Recommend to wait a few more weeks to get optimal conditions.

Round two out at PGA West today 28/28
Course is in great shape considering it is near the end of summer.
Tee boxes, fairways and rough very good and the greens are a little firmer than the Nick.
They still putted slow but I think that keeps them in good shape all summer.

Played TPC Stadium Course on 7/26 with the 20 Wolff Pack members and had a great time. I have played this course 12 +/- times and every time in the summer months which this time was the best summer conditions I have seen. There were few fairway bare spots (6"-12" x 3') here and there, but the grass around it was lush and the bare spot was moist not dry hard pan. We played the Nic Tourney in the PM and that course was about the same conditions. Can't wait to get back out there. Peace \000/

Didn't see any recent reviews before heading out there, so I was SHOCKED at the horrible playing condition. I'm not sure what is going on here. Tee boxes were decent, with bad damage on a few par3s. Didn't have a problem finding a good lie to tee off though. The fairways were in horrendous shape for a championship level course. Worst I've seen. Tons of bald spots, inconsistent thickness, and ground under repair areas galore. The same problems extend to the rough area. Balding and bad consistency all around the greens as well. The greens were decent. A few still showed recent aeration and were a bit bumpy. It was on the slow side for this course. Bunkers were also decent, with just a few that needed more sand. I still had a great time. I love the course layout and design. Lots of bunkers and lakes make the course extremely beautiful and I don't mind the challenge. Target your tee shots well or you might end up with the ball below or above your stance.

Finally, a return to the Stadium course. This was one of the first few courses I played out in the desert many years ago and it was interesting to return now that I've played so many other amazing courses out there. I was bummed I had to miss out on today's LAGG outing, but this was the last weekend I had to use up my free single "hot deal" reward round from GolfNow last year. When I booked this time, it was listed at $230(!!!), but I noticed the prices went down as far as $155 as the date approached. Still, it was a hell of a deal for FREE! I had booked a 12:09 tee time, but showed up early and it was pretty dead out there. The wind and dust blowing through all day scared a lot of players away. I ended up teeing off at 11:15 with a threesome, but a single caught up to us and I decided to join him on the 4th hole as he played through. We played through one foursome on the front and otherwise ran into nobody else in front of us, so it was a great overall pace. The course was in really good condition overall. The tee boxes are great. The fairways are absolutely perfect. All the bunkers I found had good sand. The rough played fine, but didn't look as nice visually. The bermuda is starting to come back to life heading into spring, so the nice aesthetic "framing" of the dormant winter bermuda isn't there. It's kind of a transitional look right now, but it's mostly well maintained. There are multiple cuts of rough here that weave in and around one another—seemingly without any rhyme or reason at times. This includes a thick nasty ribbon of lush rye that is like velcro. You'll be facing many different and difficult lies if you miss a fairway or green The greens were hard as rocks, having been blown so dry by the wind. There was barely ever more than just a tiny dent on the surface, so ball marks weren't an issue on putts. However, it was almost impossible to hold the greens, even on short shots. The problem is you can't really land your ball short on any holes here to try and run it up because it will just get caught in some thick rough, a bunker or, in some cases, a water hazard. The intimidating approach angles were made even more frightening by the this combination of conditions. Oh, and the 30-MPH wind gusts didn't help much either. Obviously, this is a tough course made even tougher today, so it was a beat-down for me. Still, there's a sadistic part of me that already wants another rematch. To me, this is a course that's worth visiting every few years just to put yourself to the test, but there are many others out in the desert I'd rather play on a regular basis. Last thing to note is that the staff was excellent today and all aspects of service were great despite a slow bad weather day for the resort.

Played yesterday afternoon as our group was first off for twilight. Great deal @ $75. Course is in fantastic shape. Could not imagine having to play this course from the back tees for 6 days to get through tour school. Club drop off service great; check in great; slow service in Ernies restaurant; starter spot on; on course marshal was lazy. Course conditions from tee to green were superb. Best greens I have putted on in S CA. This is just a wonderful golf course to play and test your game.

1st time on this course and I was impressed. Tough - you bet, but the conditioning is immaculate. Greens running well and true and around a 10. I shot 90 today and was thrilled. I lost one ball and had 2 three-putts, which felt like a real achievement. I was very lucky to get paired with a looper on his day off, so that definitely helped to keep the putt total down. His advice to the players...."It's a must play at least once, but make sure to pick the correct tee - it's not likely the same as your home course.". He has looped for a lot of "3 handicaps" who get their butt kicked, get frustrated, and call the course unfair. I stepped down one tee box at his advice and had a great time. I think he's right. A lot of very good golfers get humbled here, so don't be the guy that walks away frustrated and upset. It's a real gem when you're having fun.

Played 2 days ago with several buddies playing a scamble format. The course is in the best condition I've ever seen it, as the Web.com Q school is here next week. Tee boxes are immaculate and the fairways are smooth and lush. Overseeded rough is deep and thick. Adjacent to the primary rough is dormant bermuda, which is difficult to play out of. Greens are fast and smooth. Bunkers have thick, smooth sand. The layout is stupid difficult, but fun when playing a scramble. Water is in play everywhere. Highly recommended, but not for the faint of heart.
